I would like to see something akin to the Technical Achievement Award from the Oscars. There is the chance that features like megatextures get picked, but I believe that any leap on technical development is worth being celebrated

There should be more awards to the programmers or to the people who optimize. It's a shame that the people who do the computer part of game development don't get recognized anymore and that's the brunt of the work
