I disagree.

New /v/ is indistinguishable from half /v/ and the low quality posting it is known for. The exodus brought the undesirables along with it.

As much as I'd like to see more posters here, advertising us will open the floodgates of /v/ and we would be in need of /v3/ as a result.

However, I do agree we are in need of more posters. Although the post quality is higher, the board is very lonesome and slow.

It is an unfortunate situation.

With stricter moderation policies, and the original 8/v/ still existing, it would probably be pretty easy to drive off shitposters. That said, blatent advertising would be seen as poor form.
