Figure you guys will appreciate this little story about how stupid some people are. It involves my mother, since I am living with the family at the moment so I can dedicated all my income to paying off school loans in record time. Mind you, we previously agreed that I would keep all my vape shit in the car, tank included, except for my battery, which obviously must be charged inside. She's already been one to say that thing will cause cancer to the whole family if I don't, so I just keep it in the car out of respect for her home, much like I do my weed. It's just courteous, even if she is a fucking loon.
>come home after being at vape shop/lounge
>mother comes up to me, noticeably upset
"Anon, I just saw on the news that those things explode all the time!!"
>"the fuck are you talking about ma"
"They said on the news that those things are wildly unstable and can catastrophically fail at any time! I don't want you charging the battery in the house anymore"
>"So you're telling me that you're afraid of a rechargeable battery because someone on the news said so
Literally tells me "Yes, they said it blows up, so now I'm concerned"
>"you know smartphone batteries explode all the time, I can even find articles entirely about iPhones blowing up and literally killing people"
"But it's not on the national news, is it anon?"
For about 10 minutes I listened to her frantically tell me that my battery will magically explode for the simple reason that it's used for vaping. I eventually ceded that mech mods can do crazy shit if you are an idiot with them, but she's so stupid that I think that may have hurt more than helped. She then threatened to literally kick me out if I charge the battery in the house. I'm just upset that toxic media/reporting has managed to make an adult this scared of a rechargeable battery.
