Explain vaporwave to me.

And I don't mean in the musical or visual sense; I understand those and they're very nice.

What I mean is how vapowave is supposed to be some sort of protest against consumerism or parody of 80s industrialist culture. I don't understand how it portrays that.

I'm not saying it isn't there, I'm saying I don't see it.

What is Vaporwave outside of the music? What is the Vaporwave lifestyle? I was thinking wearing tshirts with corporate logos like Coca Cola ironically, using outdated slang like radical and bogus in your everyday speech, neon clothing, velcro shoes that light up when you walk, using an old operating system like windows 95 with an old web browser like netscape, using the mouse as little as possible with as many keyboard shortcuts (shift+F10 instead of right click, using ctrl+F to find a link, press esc, then enter instead of left clicking, using tab and shift+tab, etc) as you can.

So what do you think /vapor/? What is it not only to listen to Vaporwave but to BE Vaporwave?

It's just a 2010's continuation of cyberpunk. But we've had no vapor movies yet and the whole corporate thing is toned down, while the theme is mostly nostalgia, instead of futurism. And we haven't had any vapor movies because the whole thing has a dash of surreal, which is great, I don't want my niche to be infested.

Anyone else cringe as much as I did? In an ironic sense, they're pretty much acting like like the lifeless capitalistic corporation that vaporwave usually tends to poke fun at only to appeal to a "wider audience". They're sinking down deeper into their own pile of shit by combining this "new look" with something fucking horrible such as Teen Moms for example. Sure it's not exactly vaporwave aesthetic (let alone music) but still.
