Board Owner Manifesto

I have an understanding that if you are using 8chan there is probably a good chance you are aware of the propaganda in our lives. However, even people in the know already can still fall prey to propaganda. It is in our cognitive bias behavior that we are left vulnerable to dismissing some things as being propaganda because it appeals to one or more of our belief structure(s). Then there are others that are able to see and understand when propaganda is being used in other parts of the world, like the always kek worthy N. Korean propaganda, but seem to have trouble spotting it in their own country. This isn't just a board about merely acknowledging that propaganda exists. It is also meant to encourage discussion of propaganda from around the world, and how it has affected the world. To encourage people to put forth what they think is propaganda to be examined. To encourage people to dissect potential propaganda for their real meaning, and expose the lies. I also encourage raiding for the cause. Coming up with places on the internet to call attention to it. I have been apathetic to the propaganda for a long time, could see it didn't care too much about trying to get others to see it either, but then I realized that is exactly what they want. I am not a fan of complying with someone's orders, whether they are direct or implied, and the order to do nothing about this has been implied for years. So I will be posting and making threads in here about propaganda, I will be posting any and all ideas I have about exposing propaganda to the masses, and I welcome anyone to join me in any part of this venture. Hey, if you don't want to do anything about it, or have serious discussion, then post and watch (and enjoy) video content. Like I said earlier North Korean propaganda, among others, have some pretty entertaining vidya.

>classical and operant conditioning

"Classical conditioning involves pairing a previously neutral stimulus (such as the sound of a bell) with an unconditioned stimulus (the taste of food). This unconditioned stimulus naturally and automatically triggers salivating as a response to the food, which is known as the unconditioned response. After associating the neutral stimulus and the unconditioned stimulus, the sound of the bell alone will start to evoke salivating as a response. The sound of the bell is now known as the conditioned stimulus and salivating in response to the bell is known as the conditioned response.

Operant conditioning focuses on using either reinforcement or punishment to increase or decrease a behavior. Through this process, an association is formed between the behavior and the consequences for that behavior. For example, imagine that a trainer is trying to teach a dog to fetch a ball. When the dog successful chases and picks up the ball, the dog receives praise as a reward. When the animal fails to retrieve the ball, the trainer withholds the praise. Eventually, the dog forms an association between his behavior of fetching the ball and receiving the desired reward."

This works along side herd behavior a lot of times. You condition a group to perform a certain behavior and the reward is further acceptance into that group.

Public Relations = Propaganda

The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country. …We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of. This is a logical result of the way in which our democratic society is organized. Vast numbers of human beings must cooperate in this manner if they are to live together as a smoothly functioning society. …In almost every act of our daily lives, whether in the sphere of politics or business, in our social conduct or our ethical thinking, we are dominated by the relatively small number of persons…who understand the mental processes and social patterns of the masses. It is they who pull the wires which control the public mind.”

― Edward L. Bernays, Propaganda

“Men (people) are rarely aware of the real reasons which motivate their actions.”

― Edward L. Bernays, Propaganda

“But being dependent, every day of the year and for year after year, upon certain politicians for news, the newspaper reporters are obliged to work in harmony with their news sources.”

This guy. So good at what he did he convinced americans that hazardous waste was not only safe to consume, but healthy to consume. aka flouride.

“This enthusiasm was not really surprising, considering Oscar Ewing's public relations strategist for the water fluoridation campaign was none other than Sigmund Freud's nephew Edward L. Bernays,"The Original Spin Doctor," as a Washington Post headline recently termed him. Bernays, also known as the "father of public relations," pioneered the application of his uncle's theories to advertising and government propaganda. The government's fluoridation campaign was one of his most stunning and enduring successes.”

> the newspaper reporters are obliged to work in harmony with their news sources.

Funny that gamgergate is all about this. What they didn't realize that this mentality is all encompassing in the news media, and so all attempts failed. Milo tried to be the only objective person to take on the story, but Wu denied him the interview.

As a management function, public relations also encompasses the following:

Anticipating, analyzing and interpreting public opinion, attitudes and issues that might impact, for good or ill, the operations and plans of the organization.

Counseling management at all levels in the organization with regard to policy decisions, courses of action and communication, taking into account their public ramifications and the organization’s social or citizenship responsibilities.

Researching, conducting and evaluating, on a continuing basis, programs of action and communication to achieve the informed public understanding necessary to the success of an organization’s aims. These may include marketing; financial; fund raising; employee, community or government relations; and other programs.

Planning and implementing the organization’s efforts to influence or change public policy. Setting objectives, planning, budgeting, recruiting and training staff, developing facilities — in short, managing the resources needed to perform all of the above.

Demonstrates the tactics used to crsystalize public opinion

Begin your day by brainstorming with the daily paper.

Get into the habit of reading your city paper with a notebook and pen in hand. Scan the headlines of each section and ask yourself, "What is in the news today that ties in with what I want to promote?"

Take advantage of media frenzy surrounding a juicy scandal.

Janet Jackson got millions of dollars of free publicity from her stunt during the super bowl. When a big scandal breaks, see if you can use it as a news hook for promoting your book.

Read financial indices daily.

Every single day, statistics change. Stocks go up or down. Interest rates fluctuate, or "threaten to fluctuate." Consider ways you can use this activity for a news hook.

Use surveys to craft solid story ideas

The media views quantitative data as newsworthy, accurate, and sidebar-friendly. Launch a survey, or piggyback on survey results that relate to your industry to create a strong story.

Listen to questions your clients and customers ask you

Are you suddenly hearing lots of people asking the same question? A trend may be starting that you can tie into.

Read trade publications to spot industry trends

What is the buzz in your trade publications? What are new developments in your field? Use your access to this information to shape a story.

Find story ideas in the course of your daily routine

Keep a notebook and pay attention to story-worthy events that pop up in the course of your day. You'll be surprised at how many arise.

Listen to comedians on cable and late night talk shows for inspiration

Here's a good conversation starter.

 No.10

Who said it and why they said it aside it is good to point out that Propaganda techniques are only teaching tools. You use repeated affirmations to learn times tables, you got conditioned by your parents to use the toilet, exc, exc.

So it can be used a force for good. The techniques themselves are not good nor bad they are neutral. It depends on how you use it

 No.12

>>10

Agreed, on them being teaching tools, and really that is what propaganda is the entire time. It teaches you how to think and/or feel about something. Whether they are herding you into thinking/feeling/believing in good or bad things / their agenda / is what is important.
