Bumping because I can't quite seem to win a skirmish with the enemy AI set above "easy".

What race do you guys play as? What's your play style?

I run Imperial Guard with UAM and I thank the Emperor for Earthshakers. If I am lucky enough to unlock them before the endless tide begins since the game believes I should always be allied to Necron.

Branch out and aggressively capture points before the enemy does, then fortify and defend.

Choke them before they have a chance.

I had never played this series before. Tried DoW2+Chaos Rising and liked it.

Now I'm playing through Retribution from time to time and enjoying it, yet I still think there's not much strategy involved. I know the previous games were very different but I'm can't play strategy games at all. This one plays more like an action RPG with light strategy involved.
