So, I'm having issues with the Korean version of Super Mario 64 DS. In DeSmuMe, it creates a save file a kilobyte larger than the entire game. In NO$GBA, it doesn't make a file. In both cases, there are no save files present in-game.

The guy running it said it wasn't ready and removed the public link.

I would avoid using the RetroArch executables built from there, I've heard those have some build issues and the dependency libs are statically linked, so the executable size is much larger. Cores are probably fine, though it lacks MAME and PPSSPP due to build issues.

 No.3960

Yeah, I noticed pretty quickly that the folder size was quite a bit larger than simply building from source.
I use it specifically for cores because I haven't been able to build them through msys2, and it's a lot faster than building them through mingw.

I'll put this here and see if anyone else experiences it:

Dolphin r3659 introduced a lot of slowdown for my computer. I used REmake as the test game as I know for a fact it ran just fine as in August I did a 100% of the game. Now I get framerate drops to 20fps with that revision, and I used the room where you reunite with Barry and Chris as the test room since I had a save right at the end of the game. This problem also happens in the latest revision.
Using r3657 the framerate drop never occurs.

So, does anyone else have worse performance after that revision? I'm on an i5 2500k @ 3.3 (overclocked to 4.0) and 560ti 2GB

 No.4390

I'm pretty new to emulation, but I have psx, gba, snes, and ds emulators and I am loving this shit.

The psx has been the most confusing for me though. I just installed it a couple days ago and got vagrant story running. My problem is as follows: Many of the zips I download contain multiple files. With vagrant story I got a .bin and .cue. I assumed I didn't need the .cue (don't ask me why) and just booted the .bin and everything works fine. Apparently sometimes I won't need the .cue. Now I have downloaded some other games to run on epsxe and for example BoF4 I got a .cue, .ccd, .img, and a .sub. Which ones do I need or not need? If this is just giving me options what would be best for running on a phone? I couldn't find much info on the wiki about handling downloaded roms and what to know/look for. Any tips, pointers, or a link to somewhere with an in depth guide for newfags would be greatly appreciated.

 No.4395

>>4390
Are you talking about the android version of epsxe or the windows version?

Because i have no idea how the android version works and unless you paid for it or really like it i would advise you to give retroarch a try as it seems to run better on lower end stuff and is totally free with no ads bullshit (or a standalone version of PCSX-ReARMed if that even exist)

If win then stick with it it's still the best option by far if you want up-rendering and don't have a powerful computer

in both case they should support everything except the .ecm shit from emuparadise which is a pain in the ass to deal with generally especially if you want something simple.

Personally i prefer .bin+.cue simply because the emulator i use doesn't support anything else and it doesn't mess up music like .iso can sometimes, it's also the format used in the redump set which probably means it's better

I just have a torrent of the redump set open all the time and i download what i want when i want it, it's much simpler and it stops me from having to deal with shit site, shit dumps and shit format altogether

>I got it for free
Never pay for emulator each and every one of them is either worse than free alternatives or is a straight copy of a free emulator (as in same source code with minor difference)
Free emulator with ads are also bullshit so avoid them as well.

Retroarch is good mainly because it supports a bunch of system out of the box and it's PSX emulation core is probably the best PSX emulator regardless of platform but if you don't want to change then don't epsxe is good enough but if you have any game that doesn't work give retroarch a try.
As for controller a DS3 with a clip is probably the best you can get.

 No.4412

>>4411
>never pay for an emulator
I only mentioned that it was free because it is supposed to be a "paid app." I have a number of "paid apps" emulators, or otherwise, that I didn't pay for. I refuse to pay for any simple program that would be free on pc. I just mentioned it so you are aware that, while I use a "paid emulator app," I'm not stupid enough to actually pay for it.

Thanks for the tips, anon. I looked up a couple reviews of the best android emulators for each console and was recommended epsxe over retroarch for psx emulation. I will certainly give it a try now though, due to the high popularity it seems to have with you anons.

The DS3 works well with retroarch? Do you use it as a bluetooth, or wired in, controller? Would I need to root my device to use it in either setup?

 No.4413

>>4412
I personally don't use a gamepad when i emulate on android so i'm not entirely sure how to do but i'm pretty sure rooting your device is needed since
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dancingpixelstudios.sixaxiscontroller&hl=en
exists and seems to be able to recognize both wired and bluetooth
Retroarch should recognize it by default but you might need to remap some stuff

 No.4418

I'm fiddling with retroarch for the first time on my android. You guys seem to like it over epsxe so I figured I'd give it a shot and let all my emulators be condensed down.

I'm having some trouble, though. I selected the option to have it look for bios files in a custom directory and put my psx bios file (which works like a charm in epsxe) in said directory. When I launch pcsxr it still says "no bios detected expect bugs" or something along those lines.

Wtf? This is how I am intended to setup the bios correct? What am I doing wrong?

No, it picked up in mid-September when RapeApe banned Gamergate discussion not just on /v/, but site-wide, then moot made a sticky confirming it. Large portions of both /v/ and /pol/ (the ones concerned with freedom of speech anyway) then moved over. Soon after, privacy concerned anons from /g/ came over and made /tech/ when 4chan implemented the new google captcha "I'm not a robot" thing (if you're signed into a google account when making a post, your post and image get saved to google's database entry on you).

/pol/ saw another huge increase in traffic (and decrease in board quality) in December when moot did /pol/harbor, and all the typical /pol/ shitposters came over. Loads more people came over again in January when the 2011-2015 janitor logs were leaked, with hard evidence that the 4chan janitors and mods 1. hated 4chan users and 2. were mostly ignorant of 4chan's various "cultures" and wanted it all gone 3. were very social justice inclined. /a/ has been having gradual increases because the mods on 4chan are cracking down on loli.

Hence one of them leaking the IRC logs. Shortly after that, moot stepped down from being admin (he still owns the site though) and left it to RapeApe and two other mods, and has stated in an interview that he was selling the site.

Meanwhile several thousand of us have been over here having a ball, while 4chan decays into a maddening combination of normalfaggotry and socjus, and the few decent anons remaining are left confused and wondering what the fuck has been going on over the last year or so.

In a good one, hopefully. This format is parsed by the BIOS itself so you basically just have to copy the file somewhere in memory and give the address to the BIOS's DoExecute command and it should Just Work.

i asked this on halfchan, but halfchan is still shit so i ask it here

trying PCSX2 here, question: is there a way to bind keyboard combinations for controls (in lilypad or any other plugin), i.e. shift + e = R1?

i want to use it to deal with pressure controls on keyboard

>inb4 buy dualshock 2/3, i don't have money for that

also, is there a way to quickly change between Pad 1 and Pad 2 (or 1A - 1B)? like if i press q for example it would change

 No.9286

>>9285

I don't understand what you're trying to do, what do keyboard combinations have to do with pressure sensitive controls?

 No.9287

>>9286

i basically want to do it like this (just an example)

LMB = O with 1.0 sensitivity

Shift + LMB = O with 0.5 sensitivity

and so on

 No.9289

>>9287

Ah I see. If it doesn't support it out of the box it doesn't sound too hard to implement, assuming you know a little programing. On linux you can easily do it outside of the application by having shift + LMB send a different keycode and bind it in the application but that's a bit hackish.

is there windows way to do it?

i love linux, but i'm too lazy to dualboot, and i need шіиdoшs for muh vidya

 No.9291

>>9287

You can assign multiple separate keys to each button, and change the sensitivity setting for each one, but as far as I'm aware I don't think Lilypad supports modifiers.

 No.9292

>>9290

I remember using some windows software to rebind the keys to play binding of isaac with my x360 pad but I don't remember the name of the software of it is supported modifiers… Super helpful I know.

Those didn't work, but i found the solution

This one is better than LilyPad for keyboard (for gamepad Pokopom is gud).

ok, now there's another question

you all know that in pcsx2 your fps = speed of game, and 60 is the normal one

but i usually have 40-50, so the game is slowwww for me (mgs3)

BUT, SOMEHOW once it worked like in normal pc game i had like 30 fps, but speed was still normal

but i don't know how to recreate it, because i changed something and i can't remember what

pls help

Something related to frameskip maybe? I'm not at all familiar with PCSX2 unfortunately.

If you're having trouble running at a stable 60fps maybe try the PAL version?

Not trolling, I think bottom right is fine. I only do 2x upscaling since anymore would introduce jitter and accentuate the difference in jpg backgrounds and characters; but nothing wrong with stretching 4:3 into 16:9 imo. Wide-screen hacks are glitchy, and I hate seeing 4:3 on a 16:9 tv. The stretched graphics don't look weird at all.

Ok so after using Linux today on my laptop I really want to switch my main PC to Linux as well. That being said are there any problems with the current version of PCSX 2 on Linux and what specs would you recommend for emulation these days? My main PC already has an R9 270 and I would think just swapping out my out dated Phenom II X6 would fix it's current state of being garbage at emulation. Would an AMD FX-8350 do the trick or will I need to get an Intel mobo and processor.

Is there a way to open multiple dat files at once in RomCenter? I also tried Romulus and ClrMame but they deleted all subfolders in my roms directory meaning i can no longer seed them so fuck them.

I just want a program that checks if directory has roms that are in dat files, and marks 'owned' if match is found WITHOUT corrupting existing files and folders.

More Type x woes. I tried to run SSFIV:AE with ttx_loader and then Launcher all games RH.exe (using right configs in ini). Both resulted in primary monitor losing signal after going fullscreen. ttx_loader says dll hooked (in portuguese). No compatibility settings help, and output log has many megabytes of CreateFile calls (tried running as admin too).

Maybe this is only for nvidia cards ?

Playing Peace Walker on PPSSPP, keep getting this weird graphical error which appears to be related to bloom. Pic related. Happens with both 1.0 and the latest version.

Any idea what to do? Really wanna finish Peace Walker before I jump into MGSV because I'm autistic like that
