You'd be surprised that the more you play thresh and the more you analyze player movements, the more you'll be able to predict them, even if they aren't following a pattern.

*Never going Coin on thresh as the Shield is always better.
*Abuse the shit out of your spike of damage, thanks to flay's passive.
*E->W->Q. Shield tends to be more useful when you're having a hard time or you're neck at neck.
*E->Q->W. A lower cooldown hook with more damage will help you if you're snowballing. But even then shield might just be better. It depends on your situation.
*If you hook someone, immediately throw out your lantern to the nearest teammate so that they can jump on them too. (Unless they're close enough to initiate.)
*Boots of Mobility are a HUGE early purchase for Thresh. If you managed to get the second shield and don't need a sightstone (Vision Ward in the river with no ganks/dewarding), you can outright steamroll the lane because it lets you get into position so well.

AD reds, armor/health yellows, flat CDR blues, flat CDR quints. If up against magic damage, consider MR blues
Max W for burst or E for survivability. Stack AD in builds, don't build AS or crit. Sheen items are bad. Brutalizer Ionians LW is your core. Your 6 item should look like Black Cleaver, Ionians, BT, LW, Maw, and GA.
To harass, E in and auto-W-auto, then use Q to get away. Q's damage is not that strong until it's rank 5 with lots of AD, so don't feel bad about only using it for mobility until later. E's duration is rather short so if it gets baited, you are very vulnerable.
If your opponent is overextended, feel free to all-in. Your level 1-3 all-in is very strong. After that, wait until 6 to all-in.
With your runes and masteries and the cdr from brut and ionians, you should be maxed on cdr, which makes your E very very potent at soaking damage once you have a lot of AD. This makes you deceptively tough considering you usually won't build any health. Regardless, if you get cc'd down you will die very quickly. As such, Riven is better at cleaning up fights than she is at starting them. She is not an initiator; don't be tempted to flash-stun a whole enemy team as the stun duration is very short and you'll die right after.

First, be aware that he is getting nerfed next patch. You might wanna invest into something that will remain strong, like Sivir or Lucian [Lucian is like a worse version of Graves at the moment, for soloq]
Secondly, Graves is a very straightforward champ. You need to be aware that you want to start trades once your passive stacks are up past 7 and you want to play around his low range by walking up before attacking every single attack.
Use his Q to keep the wave anywhere you want it to be.
Use AA -> Q every time, because the Q cancels the attack animation and allows you to get one extra attack. Use this simple combo for harassing your opponents.
