Ripping off 4Chans OP edition.
If you are new to Space Engineers we please ask that you carefully review the OP so we don't have repeated questions
Space Engineers is a sandbox game about engineering, construction and maintenance of space works. Players build space ships and space stations of various sizes and utilization (civil and military), pilot ships and perform asteroid mining. Space Engineers utilizes a realistic volumetric-based physics engine: all objects can be assembled, disassembled, damaged and destroyed. The game comes with two game modes: creative and survival.

So it's minecraft in space, basically.

>>1454Not really. Minecraft in space would be StarMade.

And it runs like shit on my PC.
Kinda regret buying it… Guess I'll save up some money.

So is NEETFleet officially inter-chan?

/sed/ also exists.
The game is like minecraft in that you build on a 3d grid system, but that's about it. Things are capable of rotating, free flight in spess is cool, so is shooting at things.
You need a powerful computer to run it at the moment.

Why?
Can't we just have a feature that says "auto-eject stone"?

>>3607well starmade came in after corneroids, starmade was pretty shitty in my opinion BUT perhaps eventually space engineers will be dethroned too? Corneroids general>Starmade/space voxel gamesgeneral>space engineers general. I feel it should be space voxel games though because since moving to superiorchan it's even slower than it used to be.

Reviving ded thread.
So, programming blocks: Yes.
C#: Noooooo.
I dunno, is there something I'm missing? C++ seems like it would've been oddles simpler. Easier to detonate your programming block, sure, but simpler.

how come there's no decent vanilla server? all servers have retarded settings and mods.
And the vanilla ones reset daily or have a generally retarded problem

slow welding/grinding speed. That's how you make a decent server

>>940I caved in and bought the game 40% off the moment I saw the programmable blocks.
Working on an automated ship fabricator, I want to fit one into a ship.
Took a while to figure out the API but It's not that complicated once you get the hang of it.
All I need is a bunch of pistons with welders tacked on, a timer block and 2 terminals. You can daisy chain as many as you want and put them into groups so long as the group name matches with the script and you are golden.
I split the factory into two sections, each section is effectively the same. The reason for doing that is so I can tweak the piston Limits in the script to calibrate the factory such that you don't need symmetrical placement.
The timer is configured in the script to trigger the moment the piston reaches its configured limit. Even if you change the velocity of the piston or max and min limits it will scale with it.
I use the timer block to know when the piston reached the end since there is no effective waiting function that doesn't hit the instruction limit of the game causing an exception to trigger stopping the script.
Oh and everything except the terminals and timer blocks for now are set to shut down to conserve energy.
Now I need to automate breaking the ship off with a grinder and move it out to a dock somehow.

>>5455Yeah I'm more acquainted with C++ but I've done some Java in a course before so C# was not completely alien to me.
It does the job fuck it, perhaps someone might later mod in different languages to use.

Working on an aircraft carrier using the same system. It's looking good slowly getting there.
Just need to add a stop button for the elevating platform so I can adjust the height of the ship I'd be repairing.
Already tested it building small ships from a projection like the default mining ship.
Thinking of making a remote controlled Missile that is launched from a Hatch that would be cool.
It'd be even better If I can automate building them using welders and projectors.
Tricky part is figuring out how to launch them from my ship's control panel.
