Sure if you're into dull perestroika kino with no english subtitles.

I've translated the summary:

Soviet Border Guard receives information that a large drug contraband is about to be smuggled aboard an American ship in the far east. At the same time, a group of highly dangerous criminals stage a prison break. Trying to lose the Border Guard, prisoners take hostage an American seiner. To destroy the bandits, soviet Border Guard allies with US Coast Guard and begins their battle against the criminals.

Generals was supposed to be CnC3 before EA changed it to a modern setting at a whim to exploit the Afghanistan invasion and the starting Iraq War to attract a bigger audience, right before Generals releases EA effectively kills Westwood, names it EA Los Angeles, half the team leave the company for good, the other half is moved from Las Vegas to Los Angeles to consolidate the merger.

Make the team work on 3 different games before they cancel most of them, wasting 4 year of development in retarded endeavours that pressured the devs for no reason other than to milk the franchise.

Company finally releases an ok but dissapointing game on an already outdated engine after 4 fucking years of releasing nothing.

I don't think you understand just how incompetent EA management is to this day.

Long story short

>Westwood makes C&C95 and RA1, which become big hits

>Put up for sale because their publisher is going bankrupt

>EA notices their potential and buys them out

>EA gives Westwood a brand new development studio the size of a fucking football field in Las Vegas as a welcome gift and lets them do whatever the fuck they wanted as long as it made money

>Cue Sole Survivor development

>Westwood basically invents Battle Royale with it

>It fails miserably

>Cue Tiberian Sun development

>A massive programming trainwreck that takes way too long to be finished, so much so that EA actually delays the release date like twice so Westwood will have time to finish it

>Almost a year overdue, TS launches, as a half-broken buggy mess of gigantic proportions

>It's so broken in fact that Westwood rushed straight back into the office to make Firestorm and pack it up with bugfixes

>It almost fails and crashes the studio with bankruptcy but turns out to sell decently due to Westwood's fame

>Cue Red Alert 2 development

>A bit of a mess in the beginning but turns out okay for what it was, after Westwood learned from their fuckups with TS

>Turned out rather generic and not much different than previous installments because they didn't innovate

>Cue Renegade development

>Westwood gets adventurous and decides to make an FPS due to the genre's popularity

>It fails miserably as an FPS, with a rather novel multiplayer that lost its magic quickly, and doesn't even pay for its own development in sales

>Turns out to be so mediocre that EA cancels the sequel (which nobody really wanted)

>Cue C&C 3 Tiberian Incursion's development

>Westwood puts it on hold on their own volition early on to gamble their chances in developing an MMO, C&C Continuum, because they got adventurous again

>Except their forgot that they had another team of theirs working on an MMO already, Earth And Beyond

>Westwood puts Continuum on hold along with C&C 3 to work on Earth And Beyond

>Earth And Beyond fails miserably, servers are shut down two years after launch

>EA gets fed up with Westwood, cancels all their projects and axes the company

>Part of Westwood stays and becomes EALA, the other half leaves and becomes Petroglyph

Westwood is more of a creative team than a technical one. They were creative, but they squandered said creativity on anything but C&C. All they had to do was innovate RTS, but they got bored of it. EA axed them because they were making a big-ass hole of deficit, but they mostly brought it upon themselves. Then again EA made shit like RA3 and C&C 4 so it got worse. At least C&C 3 was a good last hurrah.

>Can I get a quick rundown on the Cossacks games?

RTS game with really large battles and focus around 17th/18th century gunpowder warfare in Europe that put more focus on realism in Cossacks 2 (less to no basebuilding and more focus on small squad battles on a risk style campaign map) and American Conquest (which moves the theatre of war from Europe to New World colonization or American Civil War with the Divided Nation expansion)

>never actually talked much about it

Because it kinda flopped outside Europe, is quite old (Cossacks 2 expansion was released in 2006 before Cossacks 3 was made)

>doesn't seem to cater too much to building and development, but still seems to be an integral part of the game

Everything you harvest is needed to maintain large armies (food for obvious reasons, stone and wood for construction, gold for recruitment, upkeep and upgrades and coal and iron so your units can actually shoot) and building extra recruitment facilities and town halls not only allows for faster research and recruitment but also increases your pop limit which results in an endgame where you have 4+ 18th century barracks pumping out musketeers while your town centres build peasants for the ever increasing need of resources that are needed to build more structures and fill the fields, forests, stone quarries and upgraded mines (which can fit IIRC up to 100 peasants when fully upgraded)

>If you don't mind me asking, what mod are you playing?

looks like wars of liberty

>Also yes, card system was bullshit. Shipments completely broke AOE III

I thought it was a neat feature, but it wasn't something i expected in an AoE game. Still i don't think it was the final straw that broke the camels back

Personally I felt the unlimited resources aspect was more game breaking, I mean nearly every faction had a way of getting resources endlessly except the natives, but they were broken in other ways

I felt this made the game too causal, albeit comfy in some aspects

It begins like AoE2 does, but when you get into a late post imperial age game its more along the lines of either having better units than the enemy via factional differences or ageing up faster than them because the late age units were almost always better than early age trash that also cost wood.

Still thats providing you reach the late game, because its pretty easy to crush someone before fourth age

Factional Differences were the main game breaking thing in my opinion, as some factions got single units that trumped entire factions, for example, anything anti infantry or anti-cavalry against the natives is pretty much a go to

The western factions were pretty good altogether, but when versing the natives they ended up stomping them Except Iroquois who had cheap >1000 hp ranged infantry that cost 1 pop

Asian teams were actually the strongest, except for India and sometimes China

Japan was basically a faction that had no weak units, whereas the European factions had at least some weaknesses

China was actually absurdly strong if you could get the right shipments, otherwise absolutely awful if you have no idea how to play them, their inability to build units singular is a major turn off for most players.

India had good units, but was crippled by requiring so much wood, which is generally the hardest resource to get. This made them particularly hard to age up with early game making them easily rushed not to mention useless in maps with low wood

Still they were countered by the strongest European teams, like ottoman, France and Portuguese

Ottoman with absurd artillery meant only very few strategies can stop them steamrolling your base

France had extra resources from workers as well as not bad cavalry unit

Portuguese had those shitty Organ guns, which countered all melee infantry

Apart from all this the game was pretty good, I mean you could counter anything unless you were natives

An for the most part it played like an AoE game, at least at the start

I liked it and i preferred it over C&C3 so its worth a play if you haven't

Also the building destruction was pretty neat

>Wars of Liberty

Its not all bad, but its got problems

The factions are a bit too specialized (except for one whose entire specialization was no specialization), several of them were unfinished and some factions are based almost entirely about rushing while others are defending, if you're wondering how that works, it doesn't

My biggest pet peeve is the balkan nations and how they gain resources with different crops and shit. It very uncomfy. Also for some reason most of the starter nations have been nerfed or crippled.

Lets take Germany for example, It gained these artillery factories that could automatically build artillery, however at the rate they pushed out artillery they were almost useless. It doesnt help that you could only build 1 and that there was a bug(?) that let you build 2 and they were still useless

They also nerfed the fuck out of the Uhlans, my favourite german unit they got rid of the horse wagons and gave the Doppelsoldniers to Habsburg.

The worst part is that the changed the model of the uhlan and the doppelsoldnier to look like shit, which i don't understand, if you were going to give habsburg doppelsoldnier why not let Germany keep the old doppelsoldniers? I mean Habsburg already has units that other factions have, why take a way Germany's?

Also Habsburg, despite being one of the best teams has its own problems.

All their units take up absurd amounts of pop, and they all cost gold. This makes them absurdly rushable

However late game they have walls with absurd HP and extremely strong units, however because of the absurd pop use, its almost impossible to fight more than 1 faction at a time which means they're only really good for either team play or 1v1 not rush factions

And don't get me started on Russia,

Spend an entire day leveling up until i could get the giant cannon at lvl 40, put it out and find out its just a one use, i thought it might upgrade the factory cannons

Instead its a one use shipment and brings in a cannon almost equivalent toe the heavy cannon you already get out of factories. It does twice as much damage but as half damage multipliers making it useless

The funniest bug I've found so far is that some of the units in some factions have no image box, meaning that you can never tell if the unit is there or not unless you click on the black squares

Also the game will instantly quit if you use the wrong computer AI

So I've got Cossacks 3 Gog version, managed to install it under wine and seems to be working reasonably well

however got a weird issue where models show black, like untextured

besides that the game seems to be working reasonably, good framerate, proper menu, audio and all

when looking for this issue I've managed to find pic related which apparently is from the linux "native" version of the game, no wonder

but anyway, haven't been able to pirate that linux version, anyone got any hint where to find it?

not entirely sure, I think it was spess, like it was devoid of atmosphere, so being underwater is a possibility

to be honest I really remember very little of this, I think it was some time after Starcraft indeed and it was reasonably newer game my toaster could barely run

the game itself I played very little, probably was one of those demo that came with magazines cds

to be fair this actually seems to be pretty close to it, but still doesn't quite ring that bell

it had an actual power grid, in a sense that you had to resource manage and connect things somewhat similar to surviving mars

>>99902

thanks anon, I've each one of those

>You´re not making this easy

I can understand that, but really isn't that hard, I think you got that time frame pretty close 2002~2006 ish

by devoid of atmosphere I didn't mean actual spess either, just a barren world (though its something to be amazed at the amount of rts that came from that time)

I also remember it had nice graphics, though it doesn't tell much from that time what we would think is actually nice,

but it could a 2d perspective type of game, and it did kind resemble the feel of a Protoss base, if you know what I mean

Assuming they're just copy&paste of the original European Wars campaings, much like how the game is in skirmish except for some balance changes, they should be pretty damn good.

Sure, some of the missions force you into trial'n'error bullshit like the fucking French campaing or Ukraine's independence campaing, but they were absolutely brimming with charm and were quite difficult even if you knew exactly what to do. I don't think there's an RTS that captures exactly what it was to be an English privateer/pirate captain, pillaging Spanish colonies during the Golden Age of Sail, as well as Cossacks 1 does, the atmosphere is just simply amazing and the gameplay utilizes this to its full extent as well.

By the way, Cossacks 3 music sux. I highly recommend using the original game's music over it, or at least, American Conquest music.

Thanks, guys. It's a shame they didn't implement any new campaign mechanics for Cossacks 3. If at least they implemented some sort of a risk-style map where you'd move your forces around and build up your bases in individual provinces then there would be any reason in getting it. Otherwise I might as well play the original.

I believe Cossacks 3 is still worth it, if just for the new command & control features, the streamlining of a ton of functions like production, graphics, the actually-working multiplayer lobby that isn't filled with hackers and has a rather caring community at that. And, last but not least, the balance changes that are a whole lot more forgiving for new players in terms of resources required and build orders for a whole lot of things.

Plus, you can actually zoom in-out in Cossacks 3 at will, something you can't even dream of doing in Cossacks EW/AoW/BtW. It helps a LOT because of the absolutely gigantic scale of battles. I'd consider it the only good Remake of a game on this day and age, despite being a brand new entry to the series.

Like the other anon said, Cossacks 3 is a fucking good remake just for the QoL stuff that got added and the ability to now zoom in and out dynamically instead of the fixed two modes of the previous games (that had their shortcut placed directly next to the surrender shortcut) and is worth the money

Just modding is kinda dead since there are only 2 mods worth mentioning that actually add/change things that are not related to music and/or sound effects (State vs Country and Realism di Francesco Cavalli which is"locked" behind steam workshop)

>Risk-style map

Cossacks 2 might be more up your alley then

You dont actually build bases in Cossacks 2 though since building up sectors only increases the amount of units stationed there and increases the amount of resources it supplies each turn

I kinda have a feeling that this question was already asked

Anyways, it didn´t offer enough innovation from the older games, nor did it bring back features like morale, special formation animations, reload animations etc. and is extremely lacking on the sound- and music front

However it offers a good amount of QoL stuff like better pathfinding, an actual adjustable camera (not just the two modes the previous games had), better AI and has really good looking 3D visuals

It is still worth the money since its IMO one of the better remakes made these last couple of years

I played it a bit and it was very boring after a while. Matches sorta dissolve into the same basic formula since there are only five units per faction and very specific counters. The lack of QOL features meant every action that I could do and then forget about in another rts had to be micromanaged in ancestors legacy. The campaign was the most enjoyable thing because it kept missions fresh and didn't have a lot of downtime which is another one of the game's core flaws. Since you have no control over units once they engage in combat it becomes a bit of a waiting game every time you battle an enemy unless you reach the point where you control six or more squads and try to flank the enemy or manage multiple areas on the map. Even then combat itself is rather unengaging minus a few active abilities and the lack of units continues to rear its ugly head there. Another thing that wastes time is buildings being created from the town center means they're all qued up one after the other which is rather annoying, really lessens the usefulness of some buildings like the religious places and well. Game suffers from the problem of being slow where it shouldn't be and fast where it doesn't have to.

Some positives though as I've said are the campaign as they provide unique objectives and situations that make up for the repetitiveness elsewhere. Many of the mechanics outside combat itself are very interesting and certainly make the game more enjoyable like ambushes, traps, the night lowering vision, being able to decide what resources a capture point provides. The different faction aesthetics, really the art in general is fantastic if we're getting into technical aspects oh and the music is great too although I'm not sure how varied it is since I've heard quite a few repeats when I played.

Really the game is best before combat actually starts, afterwards it's just managing actives and deciding when to retreat. However with a lack of unit variety and overall repetitiveness even the strategy portion of the game starts being monotonous. The game just needs more options, more options when fighting, more building outside fighting, more traps(there are only 2), more units. The game just needs more before I can give it a recommend.

Oh i almost forgot

>is poland good

There's around 4 kind of mayor factions in Cossacks.

There's European nations, which account for about 70% of the playable countries and all play the fucking same with some slight advantages or a certain unique unit.

There's the Eastern factions, which are undoubtly either fucking overpowered as shit, like Ukraine in general after they get a diplomatic center for roundshielders, or they're so incredibly bad the only reason they don't outright die is because they have super strong bonuses in certain ways, like Russia with their incredibly fast buildrates and pikeman conscription. Highly depends on the situation

Then there's the Arabic/Muslim factions, which are stupid strong in the early stages of 17c pikeman combat because of sheer numbers advantage, but get creamed by the millions the instant an 18c army with cannons takes a foothold anywhere on the map. They just win by rushing.

And then there's Switzerland.

They get towers, a lot of them.

You don't fuck with Switzerland.

Anyways, Poland is, i believe, a bogstandard European nation with its main advantages being that it has three unique units: Unarmored but faster-building Pikes, Light Rider Cavalry which is the fastest producing non-mercenary Cavalry in the game and Hussar Cavalry which are the heaviest fast cavalry in the game and can seriously wreck some shit in enemy formations.

Money goes to the middlemen reselling dead games from companies that have long since disbanded, companies that don't have any of the original devs of the game working for them anymore or companies that actively shit on the old games for profit. Don't fool yourself thinking that they give a shit.

If you want to truly pay the devs, send postal cards to the names you see rolling on a game's credits, like people do nowadays to the Two Johns after pirating doom for decades. Don't be a lazy piece of shit if you're looking for higher standards and don't even think you're helping, when you're fueling what is basically a broken system where only the opportunistic and the jewish profit from the people's goodwill and their ignorance of the situation.

New RTS game by Petroglyph

Conan flavored, what's interesting about it is that dead bodies create disease and you have to dispose of them and there's necromancy in which you can revive dead bodies into zombies.

I'm not optimistic but it looks like it has some neat mechanics

speaking of humor and comedy based rts.

1) CnC Generals Shockwave Chaos - very meta-humor, basically generals that mocking it's own gameplay features, multiplayer strategies and narrative. Very good production value.

2) CnC Retarded, for Generals, RA3 and CnC3. Mod name gives it all, very stupid yet fun mod, with stupid music and none less stupid gameplay mechanics and units. Poor in production, mostly reused original assets. Surprisingly well balanced by using broken against broken.

Anyone know more like humorous mods/games like these?

AS LONG AS YOU MAKE IT OPTIONAL!

There was always an argument to be had that RA really did need a rebalance But not in the OpenRA devs did it

Sort of like AOE. The more I watch you play Cossacks III the more jealous I get honestly. I've got discs for American Conquest and Cossacks II staring at me on the shelf at this moment but I don't want to start another game in addition to the other games I am playing.

The problem with OpenRA is that they didn't bothered adding a option for a OG balance and don't have any plans to do it either, so from what I could observe from this KKnD goy he doesn't has such plans either unless something got changed recently. It still annoys me that they think gibing the Hind to the Allies is a good idea at all, it is like as if the Soviets can build the M60A1 Patton because reasons.

Don't tell that to Wargaming :^)

The Hind also while retarded, isn't the worst offender for OpenRA. If I am honest I would have given the Soviets the Light Tank or at least an equivalent myself as they badly need it. Although in such a case it kind of makes sense if you think about it that was Soviet doctrine before WW2 happened, Heavy Breakthrough Tanks flanked with Light Tanks

The real issue is how warped their balance ideas are that don't bring any real balance to the game in the end.

Land battles in EAW can be fixed if you essentially script it heavily and rework a lot of the game, but overall you

a) Have to make a huge map

b) Said map takes a fuckton of time to make and not really suitable for Galactic Conquest or Skirmish outside of special missions

c) Try and find a way to fix unit pathfinding and make infantry not suck

That's before you go into all the cut features from EAW like having spaceships in ground battles although that made Empire insanely OP cause of spam of pic related

It's entirely possible to add spaceships to land battles in EAW although they tend to be rather silly and some work in a weird way it's also possible to add infantry into space but lets not go there Some mods at this.

It was a feature teased early in development but cut because the ships were kind of OP and also took up a good chunk of the map.

If you haven't noticed but in some maps they add wrecks of spaceships as part of the environment and some as static objects.

LATEST EA FROM REDDIT

>Fellow Command & Conquer fans,

>It’s been a little over a month since we announced details about Command & Conquer Remastered, and we continue to be humbled by the excitement from the community. To provide a quick update on our development timeline, I’m excited to share that Petroglyph officially started development in December and are well underway with their pre-production items. Lemon Sky is equally hard at work, and already generating some of our first pieces of concept art. We can’t wait to begin sharing more about the development, and discussing many of your suggestions in the feedback thus far.

>Speaking of which, the team at Petroglyph, Lemon Sky, and myself have been actively reading your questions and comments here on Reddit. I wanted to acknowledge some of the top questions we’re hearing:

>What is the difference between a Remaster and a Remake?

>What visual approach are you taking – 2D or 3D?

>Do you have the original source code?

>What technology / engine are you using for the game?

>What is going to happen with the FMVs?

>What quality of life improvements are you considering?

>While we’re not ready to answer all of these questions just yet, they are top of mind as we continue our pre-production work. In the meantime, I would like to address one of the more popular questions: Is this a remaster or a remake?

>This is a remaster. Our intention is to keep the story, script, and content as authentic as possible to the original games, while providing much higher fidelity with modern quality of life improvements. As Joe stated in his initial post, the Command & Conquer look and feel is incredibly important to us, and will be one of the benchmarks we judge every decision against.

J>ust as important, we want to deliver on our commitment to ensure the community has a strong voice in how we remaster C&C. As a first step in this goal, I’m eager to announce we have officially formed the Command & Conquer Remastered Community Council. The Community Council is a group of 13 of the most dedicated C&C Community leaders, ranging from key mod developers, to streamers, and web admins. This group will have a direct line of access to myself and the Petroglyph dev team, and will be a critical sounding board for design discussions and artistic feedback. They will also act as a voice for the community, advocating for what all of you feel are the most important topics to consider.

>Keep in mind that because of the depth of their involvement, they are all under NDA and will be limited in what they can discuss publicly. Please respect their adherence to this NDA to ensure we can continue this initiative going forward. We’ve already had our first call between Petroglyph and the Community Council, and expect many more positive conversations over the upcoming months. If there are topics you wish for us to discuss with the Council, please continue to post them here on Reddit or social channels.

>Thanks again for your ongoing support, and we’re looking forward to providing another update in the New Year.

>Happy holidays!

There are some RTS games like Blitzkrieg 2 that have some Pacific themed missions, but nothing that completely centers around the Pacific theatre as a whole (Battlestations Midway comes close but it isnt strictly RTS)

A Wargame set in/around the Pacific theatre would be amazing

Anon C&C has always been cool factor, not so much practical hard science. I mean you're talking about a setting where a handful of mutant faggots had man-portable railguns the size of rifles while the biggest military organization on Earth could only put them in slow and clunky AT-AT ripoffs, and spider cyborgs that literally throw web at infantry to immobilize them and not have any anti-infantry weapons to attack them with, other than some shitty rockets which are easily outclassed by a couple of rocket soldiers anyway. Don't be overly dramatic.

Frankly Confessors are an upgrade to the rather pathetic Elite Cadres and Zone Troopers are pretty much the direction (((GDI))) was going towards with their anti-tiberium effort either way. They were fine in TibWars.

You're not getting it, Anon. Jump Jets are terrible on their own already, and without the jump jets due to ion storms, they're basically useless. They cost like 5 riflemen, take forever to move, are countered by moving away from them, and have less hitpoints. Not to mention how out of place they are because no sane person would employ jump jet infantry during a war where flying things are the most susceptible to being fucked up with all the anti-air TS had.

>what is realistic within its universe

Certainly not jump jets. What is realistic for (((GDI))) is to develop tiberium-resistant suits of armor to combat it more efficiently and generally not have their soldiers die and become visceroids.

>how do we reduce surface volume of our main line tanks

>give them giant legs

Giving them giant legs would increase the surface volume, not reduce it. Instead of a box rolling on the ground, you now have a house-sized silhouette on legs to shoot at. It's a terrible idea even for its own universe where even all yellow/red zones are ravaged battlegrounds full of bumps, craters and debris, but mechs are cool, so they get a pass. Even C&C 3 addressed this with Titans that have flatter turrets instead of a giant square on legs.

>what is renegade

A mediocre shooter that took place before Tiberian Sun, but for some reason all the advanced weapons it had didn't show up in Tiberian Sun.

>>108344

That's just Nod standard infantry. Cadres look like one of those early sea diving suits with the round helmets.

>Elite Cadres are the same kinda position Confessor Cabals have within the black hand.

They're trained by Confessors and are the closest to them in terms of overall capabilities. They didn't stand up to snuff though and were relegated to guard duty.

>>108345

I think he's talking surface area exposed to contact with tiberium rather than surface area overall. If tiberium starts converting the bottom of your tank, you need a whole new one, whereas with walkers you just need to replace the feet and maybe legs. The effect only gets more pronounced the larger your vehicles get. A mammoth walker has a far lower surface area exposure as opposed to the baneblade MARV.

I didn't judge them based on their in game merits you literal spastic, me judgement was centered around the opinion that the designers of tib war cared nothing about how the Tiberium world is but rather to insert as much recognizable shit as he could.

>oh dude lets take certain shit from the other games and make it work.

>the fans like renegade even though it sold like shit so lets just sprinkle that in.

>oh dawn yeah I loved that game dude. hey. lets just put a mammoth tank in lol. that tots fits GDIs development over the years.

>furiously masturbating to this massive unit

<dude just like invent a materiel that resists this hyper invasive tiberium tbh tots EZ my dude and tots doesn't take into account replacement costs of the diminishing natural resources we're slowly loosing access to thanks to tiberium my dudes.

>Giving them giant legs would increase the surface volume, not reduce it

>Instead of a box rolling on the ground, you now have a house-sized silhouette on legs to shoot at.

did you not understand that I meant in relation to proximity to tiberium and nothing to do with combat. so what if you're a giant target? it's better then not turning up to the bloody fire fight at all because your entire body is covered in growth rather then just the feet. and this isn't getting into fucking hover mlr.

>A mediocre shooter that took place before Tiberian Sun, but for some reason all the advanced weapons it had didn't show up in Tiberian Sun.

so it's ok for Tib war to take from it but not sun for some reason.

>That's just Nod standard infantry

the wiki states that image is a Elite Cadres. so take that up with them.

>They're trained by Confessors and are the closest to them in terms of overall capabilities. They didn't stand up to snuff though and were relegated to guard duty.

Vehicles have always been immune to Tiberium in C&C games though? This is inconsequential to the lore.

>>108350

You're coming off as a fanboy over this.

>insert as much recognizable shit as he could

The fuck are you talking about? Why wouldn't they put recognizable C&C units in a fucking C&C game? Are you dumb?

>fits GDIs development over the years.

It does because they realized mechs don't work from a logistic perspective, and thus went back to the tried and tested tank formula. This is in the lore itself as well. Are you going to dismiss it just because it's lore from C&C 3? Besides I'd rather have a Mammoth Tank than a Mammoth Mk. II. It was C&C 4 that shoehorned both of them in.

>not touching Tiberium is more realistic then touching Tiberium

Yes, you fucking dingleberry. GDI's main goal is to contain Tiberium and reclaim Earth. Why the fuck wouldn't they design Tiberium-proof suits? Do you think people clean up radioactive spills without NBC equipment of any sort? Hell, the Mobius Suit you posted even proves that point, and it was a Westwood decision.

<Guys Tiberium is literally a plague for all carbon-based life, we can't get near it

<Let's not develop ways not to have our soldiers be killed by it, that's logical

>I meant in relation to proximity to tiberium and nothing to do with combat

As I said, Tiberium does not affect vehicles, they're sealed. It grows on organic matter. They don't punch through inorganic shit, except when its deprecated, at which point it grows through cracks and such, like tree roots do. Even if you strawman that Harvesters could ride on Tiberium because they had some sort of alloy or sacrificial layer on their hulls that made them impervious to it, who's to say it's not present in all vehicles? Might as well.

>Hover MRLS

Hovertech was used to make MRLS vehicles faster and also able to go over things like Veins and water, not to keep it away from Tib. These things were expensive to build and maintain, and also became useless when ion storms struck. This is Firestorm lore.

>so it's ok for Tib war to take from it but not sun for some reason.

Westwood had all the time and resources in the world to put them into TS before making Renegade, but they didn't for some reason. They chose to be inconsistent.

>the wiki states that image is a Elite Cadres

Don't tell me you thought Tiberium consumed vehicles. If it did, Westwood would've made a very big point about it, just like they did with carbon-based organic matter. It sucks up nutrients and minerals in their raw form from the ground to make crystals which are harvested to make into metals and alloys. Hell, if it did consume vehicles, everybody would be spending all resources on aerial vehicles almost exclusively instead of making mammoth tanks and shit. Maybe not even that since most of the Earth's air is polluted with Tiberium too. Tiberium gases though do harm vehicles though, since it's corrosive.

And walkers were made specifically to be all-terrain vehicles, not to "stay away" from Tiberium.

mah nigger.

So, here's what I've got in shortform:

Setting: Dead-as-fuck earth. Nothing "post" about it; this is the apocalypse. Moon's broken into several fragments from a pre-apocalyse experimental defense system.

Factions:

Blacksoul Corporates (placeholder name): Speedy assholes that take some of their aesthetic and gameplay from Nod. They're actually the closest thing to protaganists in this whole mess, though each and every last one of them is practically insane. Sleek frames, very TRIBES-esque in it's behavior. Tanks can rocket-jump like the infantry and/or assume diffrent configurations. No treads; all land vehicles hover.

Illathquar Substrate: A gaggle of superheavy cyborgs mixed with whatever peices of long-extinct animals they could find or had on handy. VERY Strogg-esque including stroggification, with bits of Cybran mixed in. Plays like (((GDI))) and the Hierarchy. Lots of gun hoses and smoke

(the) Talon (of G'Jralkav) : Psychotic evolutionary cultists that had some end in bringing about the apocalypse. Their leader was long ago part of the Philadelphia experiment and therefore chrono-displaced- often appearing relatively glitchy. Hellbent on Ontological annihilation of ALL realities.

Post-Release Factions:

Unnamed Crystals: Weird purple crystaline entities from the moon, using physics-based attacks- much like one would expect out of Garry's Mod physgun.

Urobyde: Typical terrifying flesh-monster things based off of magnified deep-sea creatures and insects, like the angler fish, bobbet worm, and so forth.

Aesthetic/Artstyle:

Somewhat similar to Madness Combat mixed with a bit of Nuclear Throne and given a bit more grit to it's paint job so that everything looks a bit more coherant to the setting. Night-time is densely lit with lights from various units. Daytime is dense with dust storms and the like.

Also the apocalypse was caused by WWIII; which was initiated via infighting over humanity's state in the universe: "Are we alone, and if we are or are not, what does that mean?" People thought the goverments were lying about the results (there was absolutely no feedback so they declared us alone), and so the resulting wars were out of a mix of panic and distrust? 3791a6  No.108804

>>108354

>Vehicles have always been immune to tiberium

Mostly because of the speed of conflicts and maybe engine limitations can't set specific vehicles to take damage from tib, can't set infantry to be immune, only for tib to deal negative damage thus heal the unit and later on taken for granted as a feature/balance issue in later games.

The fact of the matter is that, with the exception being of Hover units, due to obvious reasons, Harvesters and the Mammoth Tank due to Titanium alloy plating; Any vehicle coming in contact with tiberium would have its tracks or wheels corroded and melted by the end of the day, with complete vehicular wreckages happening in the case of flimsier things like Nod Scout Bikes. The substance is stupidly invasive and will eat through mineral rock with ease unless it's hardened to the core and insulated against tiberium in the first place.

Like, in gameplay terms, this means absolutely nothing because an entire base will be depleted or destroyed in the span of 2 to 3 few hours, maybe less. Given the operation times in the scale of the conflict that C&C represents, tiberium doesn't work that fast unless it already has it's roots in place to spread itself, so a tank can "safely" pass over the field and have no noticeable mechanical impediments that would reduce its combat effectiveness and hence no hitpoints loss.

In reality, those 20 Light tanks you sent through a tib field to bypass the enemy defenses would be mobility killed by sundown, and entirely unusable and abandoned to be consumed by tiberium after 3 or 4 days, if not sent to a repairpad right afterwards to replace the tracks and wash down the bottom side where it's likely some crystal got stuck down there.

Tiberian Sun (((GDI))) vehicles were better shielded against tiberium, but suffered by their combat effectiveness and their rather steep costs afterwards. Despite this, (((GDI))) Titans are the best unit per cost and utility in the entire game. Mainly because Tick Tanks cost exactly the same and are patently worse, which i'm still assuming was a Gigantic fuckup by westwood that wasn't even fixed by the Firestorm expansion.

Nod also lost a fuckton of their tech by the time of Sun because of infighting and the events that unfolded in Renegade, which is why you don't see their infantry squadrons with all of them sporting Laser Rifles and Chainguns or what have you, despite canonically being the Black Hand forces the ones you play as. C&C 3 actually makes less continual sense for Nod tank and infantry development after Firestorm despite CABAL's incident.

I'm fairly sure Tick Tanks is how it is because of engine limitations too. like if we're looking at this from a "Nod forces were designed around a defensive war in Sun". I think it was supposed to be something more like the Strv 103 but Due everything that happened during development the quicker option was to make it as it turned out, absolutely retarded.
