What 4x (Explore, Expand,Exploit, Exterminate) games have you been playing?
Right now I'm into Distant Worlds, a space 4x while playing Civ 5 on the side. Thinking about getting Endless Legend the next time it's on sale. That game looks like a way better version of Civ 5.

Anyone else here super dissapointed in Firaxis and how they handled Beyond Earth?
There are so many things wrong with it.
>despite being a reskin of Civ 5, tons of features were removed
>Factions were incredibly pointless since the gameplay differences were just mild generic bonus points, no unique units or buildings, no unique architecture or flavor
>Writing is just boring, factions based on geographic region instead of ideology like Alpha Centauri
>Alien designs are boring, plays like reskinned barbarians
>No point in lategame
Hated it, glad I didn't waste money for something that user made mods have done better (like that fantasy mod for civ 4)

>>296Hearts of Iron III is a war game, DH is more politically inclined. There are many more mods for DH compared to HoI3 anyway, so once you get bored of the vanilla scenarios you could just install some more interesting ones. Hearts of Iron III has... less than five large ones.

Alpha Centauri is one of the best, along with Masters of Orion 2. It's too bad the multiplayer for both is basically dead.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/259060/Turn-based fantasy game, you recruit your army, give it basic orders and battle formations but you do not control it during a battle, you just watch. Since you create your own god, pick your nation's settings and can give commanders armor/items there is a ridiculous amount of customization and strategies possible.
Nearly every mythical civilization is covered, games begin as fairly basic medieval warfare but can become riddled with summoned creatures and crazy magic spells as the game progresses. It has some of the best necromancy and undead gameplay I've seen. It's also incredibly comfy to relax with after a day of work. MP community could always use more people though.
