So apparently valve is making the next OpenGL, called GLnext. This is supposed to make openGL easier to develop on, so we might see more games made on it, and perhaps more cross platform games for PC.

Sounds interesting. I do like the idea, however, the only way this can succeed is if it's open source/doesn't require Steam, is free to use by any developer, and if it actually outperforms OpenGL.

I really dislike Valve, but the contribution they've made towards gaming on linux is undeniable. For fucks sake don't let this be tied down by steam...
