actually The Talos Principle was quite decent, you should try it if you haven't

Fuck's sake, guy, it's only been two years since SS3.
The last thing the series needs is Madden of Duty "annual updates".

>>395(´;ω;`) I just want more Serious Sam in my life.
I've been filling the gap with Painkiller though. What a great game, I can't believe I missed it when it came out...

>>399Okay, I recently just got Painkiller Black edition, and I'm pretty disappointed with it. The first level was very linear and they threw hoards of the same easily killable enemies at me, making the game repetitive and boring. Does the game get any better? Are the other ones better and I just happened to play the only bad one? The only reason I play Serious Sam and Painkiller is for that Doom-esque experience. It's like crack man, I just need it.
22b1c1 No.404
>>403Painkiller is very linear, but there's a shitton of stage variety, and they rarely repeat enemy types. it picks up a bit as more weapons and enemies start showing up.
painkiller in a nutshell:
>walk into a room>kill everything>move into the next roomalso the sequels aren't as good as the original though.

>>407https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dnot4IAwkNUhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48GlqcTDqzcFound a tech demo for it. Looks like they spent a lot of time and effort into gore and realistic blood pools, like killing floor 2. The actual gameplay looks very DOOM inspired, but a bit bland. I guess it lacks the frantic clusterfuck atmosphere of DOOM.

I can't get into Serious Sam. Painkiller just strikes me as more well-designed. The levels may be linear but at least they're not massive empty open areas like in SS.
What do you think about Hard Reset (basically cyber PK) and Bulletstorm?
e543aa No.551
>>548>Hard Resetfun but a bit clunky. It's not very fast.
>BulletstormI thought it'd be a piece of shit when I picked it out of a bargain bin sale, but I played through the whole thing without being bored. I just wish there was more variety with weapons and enemy types, but it's a very pretty game.
5ce963 No.589
>>551To me Bulletstorm is a bit tragic because if you took away the scripted bullshit and the game was just a straight score'em up the end product would have been far more engaging. As it is the game is fun but it feels like a missed opportunity.
Who's played Wrack, or the Rise of the Triad remake?
Also Strafe has a playable pre-alpha out if anybody wants to try it:

>>589It's not very fun right now. The gun isn't very good and feels like a peashooter. I hope they improve that.

There's also Retro Blazer which has been in-development for a while and recently got greenlit. Think a faster, meaner Wolfenstein 3D with dashing. The pre-alpha build that was publicly released even had Mega Man Zero sound effects, although they're removing them to avoid copyright concerns. Just to give you an idea of what the game's going for.
Unfortunately there was a Kickstarter to secure funding for the game but it looks like it was never going to receive as much as the devs were asking for, which sucks because it looks promising.
