Haven't finished it but here are my impressions so far.

It's good, but the cutscenes suck. Last game had some interesting cutscenes so I rarely skipped them, but this time I skipped every cutscene except the movie shooting and the 4 guys with the hippy van. It's hard to get invested when you're constantly switching characters.

I'd say the gameplay is slightly worse then the first game, due to the aforementioned character switching. With each character switch comes different masks you're forced to use, so you can't use your favorite mask in every level, at least through the first playthrough. Some stages are interesting and feel unique because of this, and some stages just feel like Hotline Miami 1 but dumbed down because of this. I think the developer did this to make game balancing easier, and the game feels worse off because of it.

I gave into the pressure and pre-ordered 2, something I don't normally do. I was expecting the level editor to already be in the game. I don't know if they ever said that the level editor would come after the game, but I was disappointed to learn it comes out this spring instead of on release. I'm not gonna be pre-ordering again for long time (hopefully never).

Overall this is a really great game, and a must play if you liked the original Hotline Miami. It's more of the same (which is good thing in this case) and level editor is going to add a ton of replayability. I would recommend a newcomer to play the first Hotline before this one. 8/10, I'd say it's worth the price.

Just finished it, I was really impressed

Great mechanics, solid fun, and a challenging puzzle at times

The story is really hard to follow but it's worth watching the cutscenes to understand some of what's going on, as the actual missions provide zero context and are just puzzles essentially (imagine what portal 2 would be like if you didn't pay attention to the dialogue)

It's basically just the first game with more stuff, can't go wrong with that. I fully recommend playing it

It's pretty good. Expanding the story was nice, and the character arcs are interesting, even if most of them are 2 or 3 levels and a few cutscenes.
The gameplay is still good, and the new masks/skills are interesting, but there are so many levels that feel like Hot & Heavy, which is annoying. I'm excited for the level editor, especially since Jacket and Biker are returning.
I'd give the game a 9/10, it's definitely better then HM1, but there are some flaws, and it's a lot more glitchier.

I'm giving it a solid 8 if not just for the 10/10 soundtrack
