>Developer Reload Studios, made up of former Infinity Ward employees, creators of the mighty Call of Duty franchise, has shared details of its plans to produce a VR focussed first person shooter targeting VR headsets such as the Oculus Rift.

>In an interview with Gamespot, CEO and Founder of fledgling game studio Reload, has detailed his team’s plans to make their first game a virtual reality first person, arena based multiplayer shooter. The title is as of yet unnamed.

>James Chung says that the team is targeting VR as the primary platform for their new project, acknowledging the challenges specific to VR development.

>“Trying a shooter in VR is actually difficult because nobody has a solution on how to make the experience compelling, especially on the controls issue. A lot of people have a lot of points on what not to do, but not a lot of people are coming up with what to do. And that’s the side that we’re trying to resolve,” Chung told Gamespot.

People who played this said it's good. Haven't played it and I don't see the appeal to it, but I'm going to post this anyway since someone might enjoy it.

Not a game, but it allows you to play some 'old' games.
VorpX is now build on SDK 0.4.4, meaning it adds positional tracking to games now. The new games added to work with VR are Far Cry 4, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and F1 2014.

I haven't tried it and don't know if Oculus's complaints about it still apply since I haven't been following VorpX updates and changes, but for me it isn't worth buying even if it worked perfectly. Spend 40$ to play games not made for VR and aren't 75fps or higher? Not acceptable.

SNOW is a freeroam winter sports experience which is intended to be authentic and to give a realistic depiction of skiing. The title will feature a mode in which the player can compete by scoring points and completing events. Another feature is character customisation, as you can dress your avatar in real life skiing brands. When exploring the open-world environment, there are several places which the player is able to discover, like a crashed aircraft. Poppermost Production’s plan to add in more features to the game like snowboarding, purchasable content and multiplayer.

Those who have already purchased the Early Access will get to play the BETA 2 weeks earlier on the 10th March but those who haven’t will have to wait until the 28th March.

http://vrfocus.com/archives/10634/motorsport-revolution-gets-full-release/

Independent virtual reality (VR) game developer Ghost Machine has released its new VR racing title Motorsport Revolution via Steam. The title comes with compatibility for Oculus Rift’s development kit 2 (DK2) although, you can play the game without any VR head-mounted displays (HMDs).

Motorsport Revolution has been available for people to get a glimpse on Early Access for a couple of months now. The full release version comes complete with a career mode in which players have to race on different tracks from around the world. This title features 20 different vehicles to race with including F1 cars to the Bugatti Super Sport. These will all have their own performance styles. Those who don’t have a lot of experience with racing games have access to the driving line which will show the player the fastest route around the track. This title’s AI is also intended to adapt to the players driving style by predicting weaknesses and overtaking at key track positions.

Ghost Machine states on its Steam page (http://store.steampowered.com/app/317080/) that the dream is to create an immersive racing experience, reminiscent of classic racing games. What inspired Motorsport Revolution is the Le Mans, as it is considered to be the most challenging racing class.

Tried this, really does feel amazing, it's the first game I make my friends try after demos. However it's really repetitive, and the lack of walls and real obstacles make it less of a game and more of an interactive demo. Imagine Wipeout's time trial with unlimited laps and no walls, jumps or obstacles.

This is barely in alpha and works with the DK1 right now, they're working on a much more advanced (and complicated) version right now.
I think this'll be a huge example for the feeling of multiplayer on VR.

http://vrfocus.com/archives/10762/pneuma-breath-life-launches-greenlight-campaign/

Pneuma: Breath Of Life is a new first person virtual reality (VR) puzzle solving
videogame developed by Deco Digital Workshop. The title has recently opened it’s Steam Greenlight campaign in the hope to get enough yes votes and become available via Steam on release. This videogame is aimed to release with support from Oculus Rift’s head-mounted display (HMD) the second development kit (DK2).

Pneuma: Breath of Life puts players into a unique world with many puzzles. The title will not be about how good the user is with a controller, but comes down to observational and lateral thinking skills. It is the job of the player to solve these puzzles in different ways using manipulation, perception and observation of small details.

While the player solves puzzles the character will narrate the interior struggle. The character the user plays as is Pneuma, a god who is voiced by the award winning voice actor Jay Britton. Described as being self-obsessed and comical, the character struggles to journey through the puzzling world. The videogame is intended so that the player witnesses the ‘genesis of the universe’ as the god wrestles with the nature of reality. As stated on the Steam page, Deco Digital Workshop want people to experience looking at objects and manipulating them through the eyes of a god, something they can only do with VR HMDs.

Pneuma: Breath of Life is due to release early 2015.

Looks very pretty.

The Hum: Abductions is currently in development using Unreal Engine 4 and will launch on both PlayStation 4 and PC. The trailer includes an Oculus logo, suggesting that the videogame will be compatible with the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD), however no mention of Project Morpheus has yet been present.

The Hum is about alien horror shit, Abductions is a companion game for the first The Hum that you can find on steam greenlight. Both games will have Oculus support.

http://vrfocus.com/archives/10882/mojang-2-minecraft-hololens-titles-one-toy-one-close-game/

Microsoft wasn’t afraid to talk about potential videogame applications for its Windows Holographic technology and the HoloLens head-mounted display (HMD) at a reveal event earlier today. In fact the company even teased a new version of the ever-popular Minecraft series, which it acquired for $2.5 billion USD back in 2014, would be coming to the platform. Surprisingly, it appears that there isn’t just one Minecraft HoloLens project in development however; there are in fact two that are apparently very different.

That is according to developer Mojang’s Jens Bergensten, who revealed as much following the reveal event. “I’ve tried 2 Minecraft projects on #HoloLens,” Bergensten wrote on Twitter. “One is a toy, one is closer to the game, both are awesome! Very much wip [work in progress], but definitely real.” His comments seem to suggest that Mojan itself might be developing these project.

It could be that both of these versions were on display in the reveal trailer for HoloLens. Minecraft was shown in two instances. One saw a player bring the series’ iconic blocky landscape into the middle of a living room while the other had a player tap some explosives appearing on a wall, creating a crack through which the world of Minecraft could be seen. It’s more than possible that this was an early glimpse at two different Minecraft experiences.

http://vrfocus.com/archives/10937/vector36-launches-playable-demo/

The demo offers players a taste of Vector 36‘s racing mechanics. It is compatible with the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD), although the developer warns that players should learn how to control their ‘complicated’ vehicle before adding VR into the mix. Even then, the team suggests careful use so as to avoid simulation sickness. The demo also features some known glitches, which the developer advises using a ‘Full Reset’ option in the title’s menu to remedy. All that said, the studio signed off noting: “Make Vector36 happen. It’s only going to get better from here.”

Vector36 brings a unique brand of first-person racing to the surface of Mars. Players are able to build and then customise their very own vehicles with great detail, then rolling them out onto the track to take part in the Vector Series Races. Vehicles are driven purely by physics and dynamics, only responding to the player’s tuning and inputs. Races will see a range of unpredictable events take place such as weather effects and environmental hazards. As players climb the series ranks they will gather and be able to buy new parts.

http://vrfocus.com/archives/9879/slight-mad-studios-getting-project-morpheus-running-relatively-painless/

The development team behind the forthcoming Project CARS committed to bringing the title to Project Morpheus on PlayStation 4 last year and have even gone so far as to allow media representatives to get hands-on with the Oculus Rift edition of the videogame. However, talking with VRFocus, Slightly Mad Studios has also confirmed that a Project Morpheus build exists and, in fact, wasn’t too great an ordeal to develop.

“Sony’s dev tools are really strong and we’ve got a great working relationship with them,” states Pete Morrish, Lead Producer at Slightly Mad Studios, in an interview with VRFocus. “So getting Project Morpheus up-and-running was relatively painless. Not easy as that would be doing our tech team a disservice, but relatively painless.”

When questioned about the eventual support for VR with the final Project CARS release, Morrish stated: “Certainly for Project Morpheus it’ll probably be patched in at a later date. For Oculus our pipeline and our tech is relatively mature so it may have… the builds that we’re putting out to the community at the moment are Oculus ready, so people who are WMD members that are playing the game that have Oculus can play it in VR.”

Project CARS is currently in development for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Wii U and PC and is set to launch next month.

The sprite graphics were perfect for the shit resolution of the DK1 and the forward scrolling plus lack of required head movement kept pixel smear to a minimum. Actually one of the best demos I tried on DK1 since it works around those limitations.
