 No.871

http://www.twitch.tv/oculus

Friendly reminder that it starts in 1:30 hours. Let us see what bombshells will be dropped.

Also does anyone know how to embed twitch?

 No.872

>Xbox one controller

Well… that was unexpected.

 No.874

With all their Microsoft involvement all of a sudden their decision to drop Linux and Mac support starts to make a lot more sense.

 No.875

Wait what? 2 Input devices?

 No.876

Gee Oculus, how come your developers let you have TWO input devices?

 No.877

now at this point and what has been shown already are there really any noticeable differences between the lighthouse controllers and the oculus touch controllers

 No.878

>>877

Lighthouse basically just tracks you and your hands, Oculus Touch has buttons. Now I don't know about the rest of you, but having buttons with current games which are centered towards having buttons to press makes Oculus Touch a better input device.

 No.879

>>878

>your hands

umm…more like you and the vive controllers

but if the oculus touch is as low latency and as responsive as the vive controllers they're practically identical at this point

 No.886

>>879

Oh yeah, I forgot that the Vive had those huge joystick controllers, honestly compared to them the Touch looks more high tech.

 No.887

>>886

yea i'm definitely more drawn to the oculus touch controllers, but my current issue with them is i'm currious how they'll handle occlusion and whether or

not it'll ship with the hmd

now if the oculus touch controllers dont ship with the hmd, then that could perhaps lead to fragmentation

 No.888

>>887

It won't ship with the CV1, it'll ship in the first half of 2016, but not with the HMD. They will probably include Oculus Touch as a standard in CV2, but for now we will have to make due with K&M and the controllers if we have to.

 No.889

>>888

>K&M

what's this

 No.890

>>889

Keyboard and mouse I'm guessing.

Input methods are one of the least important aspects of VR right now. Without eye tracking even being mentioned there's a massive part of input that is missing which makes any discussion on it meaningless. I'm sure that 10 years from now people will read these threads and laugh at the idea that people thought VR would be navigated and interacted with by using their hands.
