Hey /vn/, how about we play a small game? We post OPs of VNs, and others who haven't read it describe what they imagine the game is about. I'll start with two famous titles:

Baldr Sky:
A vn about mechs.
I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say that it is more competitive than survival (ie. some mech competition rather than a kill or be killed situation.)

MC somehow is a neutral party; picking a team/faction to align with.

This VN is wider than it is deep. Although there is a main route, it is not a "true" route.

Aiyoku no Eustia:
There is a good amount of emphasis on the girl with wings. I would normally see this as a symbolic thing, but given the medium, I will assume that it is a literal interpretation.
The same is true about the crumbling city.

Connecting these two, I would say that the story is about a religious empire that is somehow flawed and/or corrupt.
MC must choose whether or not to align with the rebels or the empire.

There was something about a princess, so I would guess that you would end up taking her route if you side with the empire.

I just finished this the other day. I think it is impossible to guess what it is about just by looking at the OP

The sunflowers make it look like a small town, and I assume the crotchety old guy is like the mayor or something and he's probably the bad guy.

The part where brown hair girl is getting interrogated makes me think that she's either central to the plot or she is close to the protagonist and he's like some anti-government guy who hates the old man. She might be a childhood friend or a member of the same group as suitcase boy.

The other chicks are what I assume to be other routes, and it's probably some political intrigue VN that bombards you with themes about shit like "Who gets to wield power?" and "If you save the town, will you become like old guy man?". Since the red-haired chick is in what I think is a mine, old man probably wants some gold or something that's in there that was left by Red-hair girls Dad or something.
Also blue-hair chick look like she has the best route. Love me some blue-hair.
How close was I?

The OP doesn't give too much away.

So who is the old guy actually and why does he look like a concerned turtle?

Also Haruka for 600.

All of the girls are ghosts and there's musical/miracle reasons that help the ghosts pass on. The rain is either part of them being dead (if they drowned or a general 'town is haunted and sad' stuff) - in the end it gets sunny. All of the girls play instruments (maybe one song writer) and you need to do musical stories/stuff to exorcise them.

One has dead parents (from the letter) and wants to go to wherever they died (calender had the same drawing) - probably Europe. One of the pianos is a memento. One has possessed a doll.
MC is a conductor then you set up a ghost idol group and win the band battle. It looked like there was a concert at the end, so that does all of them at once - but you need to convince them all to go.

The related videos had rhythm games in the thumbnails. I'm assuming it's all classical and one use of Tubular Bells.

Your speculations are pretty spot on

The story revolves around a society that abolished prison in favor of punishments suited to the crime that the offender committed.
Ex: One of the girls gambles herself into debt and is forced to limit herself to a 12 hour day as a way for her to learn to appreciate time and money.

The old man is a very powerful government official. His main duty is to rehabilitate criminals and to train the up and coming government officials (MC.)
