Alright /vn/, I got a question.
How do I translate a VN?
I don't mean learning moon or anything. What I want is to be able to patch PC, PSP, and PS2 games so I and other fans of those VNs can play them.
Is there a process or a guide out there somewhere on how to do it?

Found a couple of sources for ya. I worked on VNs in the past (Editing) but I never talked with the hacker about his work so I can't help you much there.
http://vn.i-forge.net/tools/ http://proger.i-forge.net/Stage_Once_-_a_Visual_Novel_hacking_tutorial/IPD http://lolex.org/lightpath/lp-2/ Good luck, you have my full support. We always need more fan translated VNs

>>652No clue how to go about doing that. Your best bet is to contact other PSP VN translation teams and ask them how. So ask the team that is translating the Oreimo games and the team that translated Toradora and so on, and so forth.

I know this thread is old as fuck but anyway: different games utilise different 'copy protection' measures and thus you probably don't find general purpose noob guide for it. You could look at docs in romhacking.net

I need to extract scenario texts from *.dpm file. Game is made with v3.3 Hot Soup Processor. exdpmx extracts text files but they are encrypted, HSPdeco also says in japanese that "all files are encrypted". I suspect this these tools can't handle v3.3 so any other options?

What would it take to change font in https://vndb.org/v14913 ? I've found a way to modify images and scripts but non-japanese characters have space between each one of them, this is due to script files being SHIFT-JIS and game crashes if you don't input letters as multibyte characters (or for some other reason).
