I've started a VN General on /v/ that's really getting popular, second thread in, to try and raise some interest in your board. I really wanna see this place grow.

>>679

I told you I'd try.

And if you're here from /v/, welcome to a growing empire!

 No.696

Who wouldn't want to share a space with the high quality posters that /v/ attracts?

I thought I noticed something different about the quality of some of the new posts here.

Let's not turn away our new brothers, anons. If quality is an issue, then that's what mods are for.

If you want me to stop promoting your board though… I mean… Why would you want me to stop?

The VN community is about as populated as death valley at the moment, and I for one welcome anyone who isn't already in the otome OELVN crowd. We could use more anons for VNs.

For those of you afraid of losing quality due to having /v/ in here, do recall that exclusionary elitism will just make you more like /jp/ instead. I for one would rather share this space with the idorts than with the flanflys and bottle-pissers.

Promoting the board is fine anon I appreciate it, I'm not really too fussed if some posters from /v/ come here.

Not all of them are drooling mongoloid's.

At least if it's them coming over to visit we can be sure they've actually read the VN for something other moeshit weeb bait like /a/ would've done.

Also, I'm not saying everyone on /a/ is autistic either, it's the majority of them.

Hell I'm pretty sure there are autists on this board right now, but they're being cool so it's all good.

You can like the moeshit weeb bait aspects of VN's all you like, that's fine.

But when that's the only reason you like it and go full autist defending the VN to the death?

You can go to hell you useless double nigger.

tl;dr

Keep doing what you're doing, it's appreciated.

Just be wary of attracting elitist /a/utists.

Read it all and thanks. Unfortunately, looks like VN general came to a screaching halt close to 300 posts In the second thread.

To blame that on attention deficit disorder or not is questionable, because it just got autosaged and wasn't on the front page anymore.

But, that won't stop me from posting. I'll just settle for doing

>VN Thread! So-and-so just got translated, blah blah blah

every once in a while, and also giving a friendly nod to /vn/. Of course I'll post here too and make it quality every time.

I found a home. I want to decorate it with many, many, quality posts from my peers.

You're more than welcome to call this home. I look forward to reading your posts in the future m8.

What did I spend all that time learning this damn language for if not elitism?

I don't think anybody really minds if you don't lord it over the plebs or try to do /jp/-level acts of autism like calling for the banning of any discussion involving VNs that have received english translation patches.

If you have a solid handle on both of the languages, I'm sure anons would be enormously appreciative if you were to join a translation team and help build an english patch for a VN that hasn't had a complete one yet.

May I ask how you guys became fluent in Japanese? Honestly its something I never thought of doing, but I'm a guy with a lot of time.

>inb4 Rosetta stone?

Rosetta stone only teaches tourist-level speech. And it's quite overpriced for that.

I've heard good things about Pimsleur, but I can't verify it myself.

>then that's what mods are for.

Mods can't enforce quality, they'll just turn a board into an overmoderated shithole. It's up to the people to make quality threads and posts.

>>701

I like /jp/, but I agree that more people is better. If you're reading visual novels, you probably aren't a bottom of the barrel pleb in any case.

>>706

heh

>>708

I learned with time, dedication, chiitrans and any visual novel I could get my hands on. That's really all it takes; I tried going to Anki/textbook route and just wasted time. Immersion/reading is the best way to learn any language, really. Visual novels are perfect for this because they include text, sound and a rough visual representation of whatever is going on.

Flashcards aren't for everybody. I found them really useful as an additional aid to memorising words.

 No.713

Gentlemen, we must flood them until they accept us.
