My understanding, could be wrong:
>the /vp/ board
>Original Board owner goes awol
>New board owner comes around and claims it
>Seems chill at first, made some necessary changes and all was well for a good while
>However, started to get more and more into talks of "merging" various 8ch porn boards for a more general, active board, despite the idea being shot down before
>A lot of anons didn't want to migrate, since they were fine with a vidya only board, and other boards like rule34 had more general content that they weren't too thrilled of (like a lot of western art, etc)
>Creates a strawpoll (kek) asking if there should be a migratio to rule34, the Yes option won out only by a little bit
>Migration happens, it's forced because the New Board Owner locks every thread in the catalog, in hopes of people migrating
>/vp/ is dead because all the topics are locked, and yet many didn't actually migrate, so we thought it was the end
>A new Board Owner (I'm assuming the old one) came back, reversed the faggotry, and business was up and running again
Honestly, I understand and sympathize the desire of a more active porn board and not be splintered into various micro groups.
But honestly? I really enjoy boards having a specific purpose. Rule34 is a fine board but for me it's way too general and a lot will get lost in the sea of other crap.
Quality over quantity sort of thing, I guess. I hang around /vp/ and /ara/, too boards with a very specific purpose (video games and milfs), so I have little interest in a mixmash of a little bit of "everything" and be flooded with other stuff just for "more activity". Yeah, it would be nice if /vp/ was more active but I'm not sure if I would sacrifice it's identity as the place for Video Game porn to do that.
But that's just me.
