General /meta/ thread to put all board operation, concerns, and discussion into

Reminder to use constructive responses when replying or discussing ITT

 No.615

File: 1448361735354.jpg (26.43 KB, 600x862, 300:431, CQwzSKqWgAIOuji.jpg)

I started this thread now because I have a concern for the traffic, activeness, and what do about it.

The board does not have very many active members. If all the people who posted in the initial introduction thread posted more often and made new threads the board would be in good shape but unfortunately a lot of them posted once or twice

I urge the anons lurking more than posting to increase activity and for active members to start threads of your own whenever you think of something that would make a good thread.

Furthermore, what course of action should we take to increase our number of members.

As it stands /mai/ hasn't added us into the blotter as of yet and I don't think it will be at least until the 8chan being broke situation comes and goes which also brings up the fact we may move to infinitynext when 8chan starts implementing it but for now we can still build a userbase

If after that we get featured in the blotter there we will also feature /mai/ in ours. I will talk to the board owner over there soon about that

So, what courses of actions should we take to expand our numbers? I wanted the communities answers before making any move on this subject.

Recruiting people or whatnot can be a big issue. But we can take risks, can't we? If someone ends up being a bad seed or a bad apple we can just ban them and it's done and over with so I think we should "advertise" on waifu threads that are serious. Like even /v/ waifu threads or /a/ waifu threads. We could pick up some good people from there and throw out the trash that comes from there.

 No.619

>>617

Why not /co/? There should be at least a few decent people, I refuse to believe they are all bad.

 No.621

I figured it was mostly a case of 8chan messing up for a lot of people.

I'd just slowly recruit from all over the place but you're right we should make more threads and we're all a bit guilty there. All lurkers and no posters makes the board stagnate.

 No.623

>>619

I never made the implication they were.

 No.624

Since we're in a /meta/ thread, might as well ask this and make it incredibly obvious who's behind this post. I propose we create a Daughteru General Thread. I know that /waifu/ is centered around waifus and I'm not trying to change that. What I would argue, though, is that most waifufags are people that either have a daughteru already or are bound to get one eventually. If we kept it all in one general thread, it would still allow the board to remain waifu-centered while still allowing a place to talk about your daughteru. Yay or nay? Is this something you think we can have or should all daughteru talk be relagated to /mai/? This will also be the last time I bring this up, I swear

>>615

I say we should wait until the infinitynext move and only have the advertisement on the /mai/ blotter. If that doesn't happen then maybe we could consider encouraging waifufag friends we know well that are serious to come here. Otherwise, I'd want to be careful with too much advertising. One of the main reasons I stopped using /mai/ is because it had too much traffic to keep up with. Walls of text. Walls of text EVERYWHERE I can live with the traffic levels now, assuming they stay constant, but I think it would be just about perfect if it had a traffic level somewhere on the level that /mai/ had during the Foxworth era. I would rather see a small amount of thought out threads with decent subject matters than a mountain of shitpost-tier threads created haphazardly just for the sake of having more threads. Personally, I don't feel the need to talk about my waifu multiple times every single day of the week and would rather have /waifu/ be something I check occasionally throughout the day instead of something I feel the need to refresh every 30 minutes. Then again, I am biased because every board I visit is either

a) "slow" by /mai/, /v/ or /pol/ standards,

or

b) set up in a way where threads I'm not interested in are clearly defined "general" threads.

>>617

The thing you have to be careful with is making sure that an undesirable new type of poster (shitposters, wizchanners, etc.) don't come over in such massive droves that they become the majority and take over like what happened to Wizardchan. In that regard, we should do as another anon suggested ITT and do our recruitment slowly instead of shilling 24/7, if that's the route we decide to go.

 No.629

>>624

I think wizchan is a bad example considering there's like 8 or 9 waifufags on the entire website (it would be a waste of time trying to recruit there in the first place). The ones who want to post here already do and the rest stay to themselves.

 No.630

>>619

Spel if that is you I will tell you only one time to fuck off.

If its not I will direct you to the reason we will not being advertsing on /co/ will be for the reason of Spel and others like him. I don't have a problem with western characters here but have time and time again have seen the worst type of person comes from /co/

>>621

Absolutely

We could also make the point of spreading it via person to person say through chats with other waifufags and what not. Its not like we can't talk about this place anywhere else.

>>624

While I'm not opposed to daughteru's being here and do like the idea of having a general for them so long as it doesn't stem into the more esoteric anime relationships that I've seen tossed around by usually only 1 person I do have to agree with the side of the argument that says that it would take more reason to crosspost on /mai/.

I do however acknowledge that some people may have daughteru's that simply don't want to post on /mai/ at all and I can't force them too so its really a judgement call as I'm pulled 50/50 between both sides. I think if more of a demand for it here arises we could try a general for it.

As for your concerns regarding board speed I do agree I don't want it to become too fast but enough to keep it self sustaining rather than chugging along like it is now. Like I said, if the people who posted in the introduction thread remained active we will be at a pretty sweet spot and I'd be welcome to some flow of new people but not a crazy amount but I do want to say that our strict ruleset and guidelines may already act as a drainfilter that could stop a ton of people from being interested in this place

>b) set up in a way where threads I'm not interested in are clearly defined "general" threads.

Someone already took care of that concern I think for the most part with the small questions general. I do like the idea so long as the questions that do have good thread potential don't get mixed into it often.

>The thing you have to be careful with is making sure that an undesirable new type of poster (shitposters, wizchanners, etc.) don't come over in such massive droves that they become the majority and take over like what happened to Wizardchan. My experience with wizchanners for the most part has been a pleasant one. I spent some time over in their waifu threads and everyone was friendly and hospitable. The admins not so much but the people were good. Also as I am aware there are already two crossposters from there amongst us who also have my regards of being enjoyable company and I welcome them here. I do understand the concern however with a certain type of them coming over and becoming the majority but if it is a trouble group they won't have a landing zone here. I will not tolerate shit stirring behavior.

stickied due to active and current discussion

The reason I personally have been posting less which I'm sure is true for others is because of all of 8chans recent bugs with displaying updated threads.

 No.648

>>640

I think that luckily the bugs have totally missed /waifu/ altogether

Which is good

 No.674

>>640

Yep, this is why I'm not posting. The less I post here, even if it's just one person, the less 8ch will act up probably.

 No.694

I think the explanation of rule 7 should be changed to any positive, rhetorical, or drama-inciting based mentionings. On another waifu community there was a discussion on someone asking for advice on dealing with/stopping their own unpleasant tastes, and I don't think someone should be perma-banned if one of our members goes through that and needs advice on overcoming such things.

 No.696

>>694

I think it's fine to mention overcoming them. Just involving your waifu in them is disallowed.

I agree though, overcoming sexual disfunction is really difficult especially with all the "just love urself!" bullshit. Clarification would be nice.

>>696

Said, but at that point you aren't talking about your waifu, so I don't think that'd be allowed on the board. I'm sure there are places to help get over sexual things or something.

 No.699

>>694

As much as it would be great to get advice for such a thing there really are other places for that and definitely better PROFESSIONAL help you can get for it.

It just generally doesn't belong on a waifu board

I'm gonna be setting up some hangouts for the board that will run themselves that people can join anytime they wish using a separate computer to keep them up 24/7 as tomorrows projects.

The ones planned are a video/movie streaming hangout and a music streaming one.

I'd like for this place to be well structured and organized be it on board or extra-board activities.

/waifu/ will be set up on infinity in a couple hours and we should migrate there as nothing posted here will be kept once the port of it is finished.

I will post again once it is ready

New posts here aren't being added when the switch to next happens and the posts after January second didn't make it there

I have since ported those posts myself and strongly recommend you to start posting here

https://beta.8ch.net/waifu/

Images are currently broken so carry on if you insist

But I will not be porting any more posts over so they will be lost when the switch happens permanently

There is curiously one person that posted there that isn't here

Please don't update to infinity, the layout is garbage and I can't post any images on boards that have updated, I stopped using /mai/ at least until this gets somehow fixed so that I can actually use the fucking board.
