Ulduar is and always has been my all-time favourite raid. I was in my guild's raiding group when it was progression, and it was the first raid I ever really took seriously. I run it all the time for t8, which is a great set for most classes.

But the Burning Legion annoys me massively. They were mad in WC3, but then THEY'RE BACK in TBC. And now - guess what - THEY'RE BACK in Legion.

This is one of the core problems with WoW lore. You have to beat everyone or else it's unsatisfying, but then once you've beaten them they have to come back so you can kill them again. I killed Anub'arak twice in the same expansion!

I don't know them but I was never that competitive. I was just tight with my guild and had some RL friends in it. The guild used to be well known in vanilla and even BC days so some of them were hardcore, guild was Just Bring It, on Frostmourne.

I quit after WotLK because I couldn't deal with all my progress basically getting made irrelevant upon the release of Cata (I hadn't been so hardcore in vanilla or TBC), and because I wanted to focus on uni as I was about to enter my first year. I missed all of Cata, but rejoined for Panda which was actually pretty good tbh. I quit after a few months though, but rejoined in Draenor. It was terrible so I quit after only the first month I'd paid for, but I restarted soon after they released the WoW tokens and now I just do nothing with WoW except log in twice a day to do garrison missions to pay for more WoW tokens :/

I had a short break during vanilla when I was younger. I was convinced it was going to be permanent so I sent all my shit to my m8. I even sold the clothes on my main's back (thankfully I didn't play very hard back in vanilla).

And yeah, the garrison is mostly for gold, though you can get exp if you're 90-99, archaeology fragments, apexis crystals (elite gear currency), honour, and other miscellaneous shit.

The amount of apexis and exp is pretty low. The amount of gold is also reasonably but you can game the system by getting followers with the Treasure Hunter trait. For every follower with that trait, you double the amount of gold the mission offers. A 500g mission becomes a 2k mission.

As for gear, the best way to gear up is PvP. It takes a few hours to get full 700ilvl, and you can pretty easily get 710-716 ilvl if you work at it for a bit. That's better gear than in the top tier raid (HFC) unless you do it on Heroic.

Yeah, when my first Draenor toon hit 100 I spammed heroics and then LFR and then pugs. My second toon is traditionally a PvP char and so I did PvP when he hit 100, and I found he was a higher ilvl than my raiding character. Fucking cancer tbh.
