/wh40k/ is for the discussion of the Warhammer 40,000 Universe and IP, this includes all games, music, books and background lore relating to Warhammer 40,000.Spess Mehreen Supremacy Complex
After reading through the majority of the Horus Heresy novels, I've been thinking about a particular point in regards to (almost) all Space Marines, and, by extension, the Chapters they belong to.
What I want to know is: Why are Space Marines such assholes to baseline humans? Even before the Heresy begins, they're pretty dickish to everyone who isn't also a Space Marine - The worst offenders being the Dark Angels and the Iron Hands in particular.

I got nothing else, so here's a small attempt at kicking some life into this place: Dredged up an IG Regiment generator from /tg/'s past.Handy Probability Calculator
I have developed an android app (free) that can allow you to calculate the probability of successfully rolling a number of wounds (to hit, to wound and armor saves)
Here is a link to the app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nagastudioprojects.victor.diceomnibus&hl=en)
The app is designed to be able to work with any game or dice rolling formula.
for wh40k you will want to set the success dice to the following settings:
Die Type - 6
Target - 4
Twinner - 7
Twinner - 0
Negator - 0
Reroll - 0
Reroll Limit - 1
And then un-check the Reroll - Or Higher checkbox
For an example lets say that you have a unit with 10 attacks that hit on 4+, wound on 3+ and are firing at a unit with a 3+ armor save.
You would put the following formula into the roller:
10sst3st2oL
You do this by pressing the following buttons: 1, 0, (S)uccess, (T)arget, Complex, (S)uccess, (T)arget, 3, Complex, (S)uccess, (T)arget, 2, Or L(O)wer
That formula will roll 10 dice with a target number of 4 or higher (to hit), and then roll that many dice with a target of 3 or higher (to wound) , and then roll that many dice for the armor save (3+ armor, you want to roll 2 or lower for the counted wound).
Once that is input you press the ? button to calculate the probability. Lets say you need 3 hits to kill off the unit, you then input 3 and press 'Or Higher' and it will give you the approximate chance that you will roll 3 sticking wounds or higher ( in this case ~9.2%)
Please let me know what you think, also if you have specific examples that you want to know how to input please let me know, because the app is an omnibus for nearly all integer based rolling systems working it out for wh40k takes just a slight amount of familiarization.

So I recently came across this, which is a standalone game as you only need Source Multiplayer 2013 to play it.
It is essentially Space Marines Vs Tyrannids, with both of you trying to advance and capture objectives while defending your own.
Several playable classes, including Terminators, Lictors, Carnifexs.
Plays rather well, probably the best source engine fps game I've seen actually.
Newbie advice.
Hey all, I'm just starting to get into 40K, and decided on what type of army I want to run. I'm aiming to go for a primarily Krieg army, with a balance of infantry and artillery.
I'm just wondering if anyone has some suggestions, or any advice regarding the Krieg, or if they're even relevant in the seventh edition.
Did anyone ever have some ideas for new armies? I had loads but I'm too lazy and not talented enough to sketch them out, plus they never accept designs from fans anyway I don't think.
Anyway the main idea I have right now is a small human faction that rebels against the Imperium. The basic feel for them is like The Resistance in Terminator in the future, basically ragtag as fuck. They use some Imperial guard eqpt, some SM eqpt, and they're also allied to either the Tau or Eldar, which is why they survive at all. The fluff can have them being wiped out after just a few millenia.
There's also an asian theme, units would be like the Vietcong, Taliban/ ISIS type units with suicide bombers (call them Kamikazes), Japanese WW2 units, Samurai, Ninjas, and Shaolin type monks.
Starting, need help
Hi /Wh40k/
I played VERY little Warhammer 40k as a kid 5-6 years ago and want to play again for some reason.
I used to play space marines idk why they looked cool I guess, and ended up with a lot of marines, 2 squads of terminators, 1 commander, 1 squad of snipers, a dreadnought, 2 predators and 1 land raider crusader. Safe to say I sucked at the game.
Now I want to return and is struggling to pick an army, Blood angles, Grey knights or Space Wolves.
So which one should I pick and if so what should I buy and what of my previous army can I transfer over?

ITT: Personal Favorite CommissarWarlord Titan
Towering at 57.15 centimetres, Forgeworld's most expensive model yet, costing a grand sum of £1240.00 the Mars Pattern Warlord Titan is surely a sight to behold but here's the thing.
Considering that it's worth so much and that it's huge compared to most other wh40k miniatures, what's the actual chances of seeing this thing in person or playing against it?
Have any of you Warhams seen one in person or know someone who forked out that much to get one?
Board activity.
Why is it this place can hardly survive 2 weeks of constant activity, I normally check back every few days to find this place has ground to a halt.Malal Compilation
I've been troving around the net looking for Malal and anti-chaos related subject, hoping to one day write up a codex of sorts for him. Here is what I've found, please add anything you know of that fits the bill.
Also fuck you board owner, switch it to more than one pic a post, and change the post length limit. Have to cut this way up now.
"…and he that went before now came last, and that which was white and black and all direction was thrown against itself. Grown mightily indignant at the words of the Gods, Malal did turn his heart against them and flee into the chambers of space . . . And no man looked to Malal then, save those that serve that which they hate, who smile upon their misfortune, and who bear no love save for the damned. At such times as a warrior's heart turns to Malal, all Gods of Chaos grow fearful, and the laughter of the Outcast God fills the tomb of space . . ." – from black pages of the Great Book of Despair.
Take the rot, to make it flesh.
Take the skull, the soul to rest.
Take their mind and give them peace.
Take their will. Sensations cease.
We shall deny Nurgle their flesh to fester and rot
We shall deny Khorne their blood and skulls
We shall deny Tzeentch their destinies and fates
We shall deny Slaanesh their pleasure and pain
Death to the Dark Gods

The Renegade God, The Renegade Power The Outcast Power, Hierarch of Anarchy and Terror, Malice, and The Lost Power.
His followers are known as the Doomed Ones, the Sons of Malice. The leader of the Sons of Malice is known as the Anarch. The term Doomed Ones also go along with Malal, although there is uncertainty how exactly. Doomed Ones are often thought to be the chosen human champions of Malal, however in the old Realm of Chaos Slaves to Darkness rulebook the Doomed Ones were the daemonic entities of Malal and are described as bipedal lizard daemons that stand almost a head taller than a human and had soulblades which were forged from the soul of burning hatred taken from a Witchhunter that died fighting a Daemon.
The fate of Kaleb Daark, who failed to retrieve the keys to the crystal coffin of the trapped god of order:
At Caer Deral, among the burial mounds of long-dead kings, he fought against the followers of the renegade god Malal. Beneath the eyes of a huge stone head he slew the enemy leader, a man whose face was white as milk and whose eyes were red as blood. He tore the albino's heart out with his bare hands and raised it still pulsing as an offering to the Blood God.
Malal is usually depicted as a towering humanoid with wolf like and crocodilian features. His hands have six fingers apiece. Three eyes look out from his head. Hordes of teeth, Lion-like, Shark-like, Cow-like, and Rat-like, jut from his jaws. The symbol of Malal is a skull, bisected down the middle, one half white, and the other black. This can vary from very stylised, to very naturalistic or even bestial. His followers favour black and white, especially bisected patterning.
Notable short Greentexts
I'm looking for a specific 40k greentext I read on /tg/ way back that I remember seeing a couple of screencaps of.
The story was about kids playing on a fallen titan that'd been overgrown with moss and stuff. The titan reawakens, sees the kids around it, and concludes that the fighting it did in the great crusade has finally brought about the peace it wanted. It then deactivates forever, content in the belief that it has done it's job.
Other than this, any other greentexts of 40k that unexpectedly turn out to be noblebright or heartwarming are very welcome. The longer form stories are pretty well documented over on 1d4chan wiki, so just a quick mention and a link are probably enough there.

Hey everyone, I am getting into Tau and for my models I want to give some of them a force field bubble of sorts on the models to make them look really cool. Do any of you have any tips or tricks as how I could go about doing this? A guy at my hobby store said he used model water effects but that seems rather difficult. Thanks guys!
