Thoughts?

I'm waiting for more info before I just in myself third person instead of first has me worried.

I'm cautiously optimistic because the devs do seem to want to do a good job. Although I doubt there will really be anything of a wow factor.

F2P can only be orks, I didn't know that.

That is such a fucking good idea. I knew the tyranid's were gonna be some sort of cpu factor to control the populations, but even then the smurfs were gonna outpop everything.

So I'm guessing it'll be like Planetside? Not much room for in-game RP, unless you're able to walk around and do stuff in the cities of conquered areas or something like that.

You can't play as Imperial Guard, let alone a citizen. It's all about the fighting. You might be able to roleplay within a clan but that's about as far as it goes.

 No.194

Was really hyped. Then the founders exclusives came and people somehow started defending this decision. Then people said it was fixed when there was no change to the policy.
Now I hear they got 5 million dollars extra funding.

I've been lurking their community forum and my god is it cancer incarnate. You've got the LORD OF Posts going around practically every thread boasting about his post count he got from Roleplaying on the forum, You've got a massive thread in offtopic that is unmoderated for whatever reason that is 10235 pages long with a population of 6 people with a guy who thinks he was Robot Jones in a previous life and a resident angsty teenage emo lolcow who keeps going on about how he tried to have sex with an underage girl and it was the parents fault for getting BTFO'd. It's like a cesspool of spam, autism and drama. I thought I was on Tumblr.

Founders forum is full of diehard fanatics that try to censor criticism and white knight the game so hard. this has all put me off the game to be honest, I've also wanted to be part of a warhammer 40,000 MMORPG since I first started playing in 5th edition (read books and stuff long before that) but just even a few weeks looking at the community and how they act has put me off the game. I don't want to make the mistake of getting overhyped or exicted like I did with Space Marine. I believe that Eternal Crusade can be some great which I've waited for years to be part of, but the U-turns, the delays and the toxic community.

Just spent about 15 minutes going through that Uriel1339's post, (the lord of posts) and they all seem to be from shitty roleplaying games he has devoted his life to on the forum.

Why does Eternal crusade even have an RP forum? Shouldn't those who're interested in wh40k RP just go to like a dedicated wh40k site like Warseer or B&C?

As for the game, currently I'm still on edge about it failing, don't get me wrong I love 40k but it reeks of WAR and Space Marine, with maybe just a sprinkling of DMO.

 No.281

To have white knights on a founder's forum pre-release defending the devs decisions and actions is nothing unfamiliar, it happens with a lot of games, like Star Citizen. Thing is the Devs offer you something shiny or something that no other normal member can have for a price and with it they buy your loyalty, you're inducted into a special club (or in EC's case a sub-forum) where you're surrounded with people who all have the same opinions as you and over time you sort of see these opinions as the norm of the community, you then leave your special club to find other people have differen't opinions or criticisms of the game and they seem entirely wrong and alien to you.

You also have stuff on the founder's forum that falls under a ridiculous form, but still existent of elitism. Discussions, polls and talk with the Devs go in within the forum that shape the game, it's a platform that the standard users don't have due to either financial difficulties, concern for the success for the game or just in outright protest. Why there are 5th chapter polls and gameplay and lore discussions in the founder's forum instead of General or gameplay discussion is part of the problem of ostracising the typical basic member.

I must admit, the Eternal Crusade forums are starting to sound like the cluster fuck that was the Space Marine forums. A lot of the problems and attitudes which have been described here sound eerily similar, although that forum had a massive rabid Brony forum if memory serves, they isolated themselves in a single thread in offtopic with an extra ordinary high post count and then organised thread hijacks and raids on the other sub-forums. None of them got banned for destroying half the forum which was weird.

As for the shitposting I'd refrain from going into the realms of harassment or needless drama making, even though this guy/girl (Eldar avatar) sounds like his ego needs to be brought back down to Earth.

So back on the topic of Eternal Crusade. Who do you guys want the fifth sub-factions to be? I personally want the Imperial Fist's to be the fifth sub-faction and for them to have a doctrine of strong defensive abilities like Tarantula turrets and buildable cover (maybe things like communication relays and orbital beacons whilst having access to siege weaponry like vindicators.

 No.324

>>323

Not even sure if they are planning to implement doctrines at this stage. Any sub-faction seems to appear as a unitskin and honestly until I hear and see more about all FOUR factions I could not care less about a fifth sub-faction.

For most of it they seemed to be reacting to Miquel like some awe struck teenage girl, so they didn't seem to ask him anything interesting. Although Miquel did go on about their plans for their servers to be hosted on the cloud?

Now would any of you gents be kind enough to explain to me how that would work technically? Cause I have never heard a developer claim to host on "the cloud" before.

Just watched yesterday's Eternal Crusade Twitch. Nothing new was showcased apart from which Craftworlds are going to be viable for the Eldar 5th sub-faction vote. You have a choice of Mymeara, Altansar and Yme-Loc. Note: Voting for Mymeara isn't going to get you Shadow Spectres at release or guarantee their going to be included in Eternal Crusade.

Apart from that, certain sections of Outpost walls will be destructible to allow attackers another entry point along with tunnels and 'sewer' systems possibly located beneath the outposts.

Also, which ever faction controls these outposts will have their own banners and turrets etc. Nothing was said on fortresses yet and I'm wondering if they're to still be included.

The Eldar subfaction vote will be on the 11th of March, no time or method has been given on how the vote is going to be conducted.

Every founder will be allowed to vote for one subfaction per faction.

You'd think it wouldn't be difficult…if GW advanced the damned lore they could make enough money to get serious talent on-board and make a AAA game that would BTFO the entire industry.

>start game as scout - stealth missions, upgrade your equipment and make decisions that affect later level-up tree like choosing shotguns vs snipers more often to get XP (translate later to melee vs ranged weapon affinity)

>upgrade to devastator squad, but maybe just have one level of that because it's limited equipment-wise
>Assault squad. Like SM, but in an actual battle situation where you had to charge into an enemy flank and fuck shit up close combat as your brothers storm through. Upgrade from chainswords to power swords/fists, etc.
>tactical squad, do awesome SM shit fighting Orks, Eldar, maybe Tau. Acquire accolades and shiny armor bits.
>Veteran, get DeathWatch or other Inquisition recruited to fight 'nids or what have you.
>TERMINATOR HONORS - space hulk raids, chaos daemons alongside grey knights etc. Black Crusade 14, teleport into the heart of a massive fucking battle and take the fight to failbaddon himself.
>With your dying breath, Thunder Hammer smashes his fucking head in, banishing him back to the warp yet again.
>Credits roll
>Epic fucking speech declaring your honors and accomplishments, the more you did, the greater the speech is.

I would pay several hundred dollars to play such a game.

Most threads revolving around their false promises such as One big server at launch, their PvE coop dungeon mode to get rewards, Guild and player owned customisable Strke-cruisers will active a hive of shill and fanboys that'll instead of arguing or trying to prove their point will just insult you as the useless biased mods just sit back, doing nothing, only opposing negative feedback.

I don't, when I found out that they had basically backtracked on the whole pioneer pack being Founders they had already edited the FAQ to remove the trace. If you look through some old Threads Miguel keeps mentioning that it is an actual founders pack.

A few people did cry out it was false advertising, basically people responded with

They've been lied to, falsely promised and falsely advertised stuff like Non-Founders founder packs and they're completely okay with this. Still defending Behavior and rabidly attacking anything in their eyes deemed negative.

This is basically a beacon to every developer and publisher out there that yes you can screw us over, you can turn your backs on your promises and we'll be okay with it, completely complacent with it and happy to defend you for it.

The Warhammer 40,000 fanbase will become brainwashed yes men who'll be seen as something to be milked for cash

I'm pretty sure he was one of those members who if could not convince people they were wrong to criticise or mistrust the Devs he'd turn to petty insults and become incredibly passive aggressive to the point of the threads getting locked.

"The cloud" is a marketing term. It's usually used in the context of off-site storage - for example, a company may choose to forgo on-site data backups and instead upload their backups to "the cloud", which is really just a third party storage server

Saying that they want to do servers to be "hosted on the cloud" doesn't really make a whole lot of sense. The only way one could interpret this is that they are intending to outsource server management to 3rd party hosting companies.

The sad truth is that BEhaviour is the first and only studio produceing a Wh40k game that's had this level of drama, U-turns, False advertisements and Unprofessional staff threatening to ban people for asking questions and criticising the game.

Relic and THQ never did this, Space Marine was the only game where they didn't fufil several goals because THQ was going bankrupt.

But this is actually horrifying, this showcases that with an influential PR manager and enough fanboy elitism and fanaticism the devs can get away with lying to us and scummy marketing tactics.

A man who pretends to be your friend to sell you a car, is not your friend. It's worrying because other studios and publishers may choose to use this as a guide in future Wh40k gaming projects.

http://forum.eternalcrusade.com/threads/would-you-pay-to-be-a-founder-if-this-game-wasnt-set-in-the-warhammer-40k-universe.45994/

People are only buying this game because it is a part of the Warhammer 40,000 IP. People wouldn't buy into this if it was their own IP or Sci-fi universe, they wouldn't buy it for the mechanics, the features, goals or merits that it could become a good game, and this is every where

People would rather talk about the skins or ask for shiny trinkets like Terminators and Titans instead engage about balancing, about the worth of the cosmetics and the pricing, about how they're going to continually update the world and stop it from getting stale, explanations as to why several deadlines were missed, without answers like "It was a dream, I destroyed it, herpadurpaderpa I'm dick don't criticise me.

If people don't wise up to the fact that supporting this exploitation of people is actively hurting wh40k, we could see more Devs for wh40k following this path in the future

They're right about one thing though, I used to lurk on the DoW forums, this shit didn't happen, Relic announced what was implemented *in* the game and when release came everyone was fine because they hadn't been lied/ falsely advertised/ intentionally hyping stuff not in the game etc.

bEhaviour on the other hand, has. bEhavior listed features and core gameplay mechanics to be set for released that they didn't know if they could do, for example.

They told people numerous that the game was going to be one massive persistent world with more players than fighting over it than Planetside 2, Miguel went on to say they were looking at 500 vs 500, 4 factions and more being added.

Only to be told three years later that the technology to make that game isn't available.

Surely they should have researched the technology availible to them before going around for three years saying this was all on track.

I'm quite surprised that the forums didn't just explode, I mean, total waves of people getting refunds and boycotting the game… I'm surprised that so called "Video game journalists" didn't have a field day with it.

This one time nathan(lead) said there will be terminators at launch only to de-confirm it on the forums a short while later as just a wrongly spoken word in an interview.

But in short what I know:

the people who left are:

Michael Chan - 01/09/2014 - Systems Designer

Miguel Caron - 31/01/2015 - Lead / Senior Producer

Patrick Balthazar - 25/03/2015 - Lead Programmer

Steven Lumpkin - 04/04/2015 - Lead Level Designer

Ivan Mulkeen - 23/05/2015 - Lead Narrative Designer

Out of them:

Michael Chan returned last month.

Terminators, mega nobz, wraithguards are not to be present on release.

No open world.

Nothing on eldar or orks so far.

Fighting is instanced and fights are 1 race vs 1 race. No big fights with 3 or 4 races.

Number of players supported is absolutely unclear

>early access in Fall 2015

So we can see what it will be like then.

>We’re currently working on short, horde-style firefights as our main PVE content for launch.

So tyranids are probably some horde mode and not some dungeon exploring like I believed it would be initially. Though this is still vague as fuck.

>Similar horde mode game types can be found in Space Marine and Mass Effect 3.

So yeah horde mode is ebin trash.

Unreal Engine 4 is being used to develop the game.

They did some work on the sorcerer and apothecary. The apo has heal and poison + easier ressing.

This apparently gave Vigilia Mortis a head star on advertising them and convincing people to vote for them as well as making posters and signatures for them.

I'm wondering if Ivan's contract was not renewed because of this, he seemed to get pretty defensive after someone gave him links to the so called comments, seems pretty unprofessional to me.

Founders lounge? I can't access it.

I have been following this game for a while now and nothing but disappointment around every bend. The one thought that kept popping into my head was "Why the fuck did they add the eldars?" A race that is few and far between and dont overly go into landgrabs that would result in these matches happening. Then you got the slinky marine fanboys fighting amongst themselves over what decal is applied to the shoulders that they are bribing with money. The devs are fighting amongst themselves and who ever wants to stick to the original plan is getting fired. The best part of all of this is the Tau would of made a better choice instead of the god damn eldar.

They probably put the Eldar in the game because of their popularity and easiness of writing. Don't know about Tau seeing as they could have put the planetary setting in the Eastern Fringe.

EC confirmed not to be open world, but rather Heroes and Generals matchmaking based around capturing territories.

It's to fight ISIS though. Which is a bit crazy but nowhere near as bad as joining ISIS

 No.749

>>734

In most countries though it's illegal to go to Syria or Iraq and start killing shit, some countries have actually taken away citizenship from fighters who have travelled there of their own means.

He joined the Kurds to fight against ISIS, but the thing about Kurds is that they are also in constant war with Turkey which is a country funny enough in NATO. Now I'm not sure if you fella's are familar with article 5, but it essentially states that an attack against one member state is considered an attack against all. In otherwords they are promoting a guy who is not only fighting against ISIS, but every country in NATO.

That is why that post is so retarded.

The Kurds are Marxist-Leninist cock-suckers who call every patch of land they come through "Kurdistan". I can't wait until the Kurd minority in Germany and France decides the time is right for a Kurdistan in Europe, just so people could see their true colours.

This scum bombs people in Turkey, runs human smuggling and extortion rings in parts of Europe that have loads of migrants like Calais. The only good Kurds are the ones that co-operate with Assad's forces and the Iraqi government.

 No.773

So they're now going to be using the Unreal 4 engine, which is at least going to hopefully stop the game looking from as shit as it currently does.

 No.774

>>773

I wouldn't count on it.

Also noted that they said they'd show Eldar 2 weeks ago then decided not to. Space Marine 2.0 confirmed?

 No.776

>>774

Yeah, I know what you mean. I really want this game to actually be good and blow us all away and give us a great 40k experience but it's just so unlikely.

Isn't that the guy who rigged the polls on founder items to make 2 out of 3 choices pro-stat-cosmetics one year or more ago ?

A faggot by all means , yet still a major player there.

Nah mine, thought it was a friend who posted it here but that isn't the image I screencapped for them cause I thought it would be deleted. So far it is still up.

The moderation on that forum is retarded as fuck. Once posted porn on there and nothing happened so I suppose I was worried over nothing. Though I did once post this image and people lost their shit.

So this was in the news? Think someone should post this in that thread where the guy has gone off to join the Kurds?

Also in minor news 14th September Eternal Crusade Early Access.

Yay we can finally see space marine in multiplayer.

Seriously they need to add more shit before it becomes interesting at all.

 No.794

Apparently invites are already flying out and there is drama in the founder's loung.

I cannot access it though.

 No.795

>>794

Invites are based on how much money you have spent and not first come first served as what I believe was originally said. There are also people complaining about gameplay and balance issues.

tl;dr people are having a bitch fit cause of way keys are handled and gameplay is probably shit.

Oh and some guy spent over $1k on Eternal Crusade.

 No.797

>>795

So is the early access bound to a non-disclosure policy ?

We aren't allowed to get any videos ?

So much for *transparency*.

 No.798

If you didn't make it into the Closed Alpha, here is a Teamspeak with some people who did. If you want to ask a player anything about the game this is a good way to do it.

Password for the Eternal Crusade 1 channel is Crusade

I'm in the alpha. It's….OK. Could be better. Their servers and hit boxes are SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT

>It's a basic vaccum heal like in any game ever.

Who the fuck came up with this shit ?

 No.916

The fact that it's still literally Space Marine MP after all this dev time doesn't give me much hope.

 No.917

>>916

I still feel like tanks are complete trash in this game.

They better increase the number of players to at least 40vs40 or this games will sink fast.

 No.921

>founders pack getting removed

>game moving into early access

>has 2 maps and 2 factions

So the founders pack was advanced cancer as expected and now we are back to normal cancer while they do ugly, shitty mocap of eldar and some even claim the early access will cost 60$.

This is fucking retarded.

 No.925

The question is would it be worth it more to buy the founders pack or wait until the early access goes on sale during the summer or christmas sale.
