he a p cool guy. runs and doesn't afraid of anything.

no but srsly CC was the first warhammer series I read (I had a passive interest in the table top) and solidified my love for the whole universe. I now like it more than I like the actual table top, been playing a lot of Rouge trader and Dark heresy.

I'm rather fond of his first escape in the original short story. It was short and unremarkable, but his cowardice was so very humorous.

Not to say I don't like the character development, I just appreciate our lovable commissar's antics.

you know I think you're right. I don't have it but there's another one with him fighting nids with his buff arms exposed, shooting a bolter in one hand and chainswording with the other.

think it's the play with the whole propaganda gimmick, he's the post boy for the imperial guard heroics, a bolter wielding soldier is pretty godly.

I think it actually mentions this in one of the books, since he in fact uses a laspistol. It shows the bolt pistol among his possessions, and he remarks he just uses it for propaganda shoots. The more you know.

Also, on the miniature of CC that Black Library made, there are even steps going up to the pile of bodies he's standing on, like he's on a film set.

Ciaphas Cain is the only human Commissar I know of that died of old age.

It's a meta joke.

In the books, Cain is hailed as a hero and Imperial propaganda always portrays him in amazing exaggerated displays.

Therefore them replacing his las pistol with something more manly like a boltgun and standing atop his fallen enemies.

When in truth he's anything but that and complains about it constantly.
