I know nothing about Warhammer 40k and would like to know more, where should I go to find out more about the lore and universe?

1d4chan, lexicanum, the vaults of terra series, or If the Emperor had a Text to Speech Device series.

Or just sorta absorb it like a spongr on /tg/.

 No.691

Find a book series you are interested in and read.

Eldar books , SM books , CSM books , .

For more specific stuff look up new and older codexes online.

Will do, thanks.

 No.693

I recommend just reading the Horus Heresy series and going from there. Then maybe play Dawn of War. When you read about something you dont understand, check the wiki.

shouldnt he start with something lighter than the most important shitstorm in the history of the imperium?

gaunt's ghosts its perfect for begginers

I'd suggest the Space Wolf omnibus, since it first takes place when Ragnar is a tribesman and doesn't really understand how the universe works and the book gradually teaches him/you about the universe and stuff.

My warham buddies call me a walking 40k encyclopedia, I started my knowledge off with reading all the codexes. Then built on it with various omnibuses and books.

Try your local bookstore, it be best if it was a 2nd head because 40k books in general are expensive!

Don't limit your self to one faction though, Indulge in some chaos maybe dabble with Xeno Filth. Find what you like and build on that.

Last thing, find out if there is a nearby Games Workshop store. Its a wonderful place to go to!

Good luck and have fun

srsly "meh" at best

terrible writing mistakes, like explaining how something looks through the visor of his helmet, and then 2 seconds later he explains how his hair is all wavy in battle and never mentions "oh, he took off his helmet"

then even more later, he magically has his helmet back on all of a sudden

I would recommend anything written by Dan Abnett, because not only is he a WH40K writer, but an actual author of a large variety of really good books and marvel comics.

If you want to know about the Guard, pick up the Ciaphas Cain and/or Gaunt's Ghosts books. One's essentially Blackadder/Flashman in SPACE, the other is Sharpe IN SPACE.

 No.818

I only got into WH40K about 4 months ago. I did not know where to start, so I asked a buddy of mine whom directed me towards the Horus Heresy series. I've finished the book "Mechanicum" and have started on "Tales of Heresy", I'm about 7 novels and 2 short stories in. Shit's good, I've learned a lot about the various legions, factions and races.

 No.824

Dawn of War is a good start. Plus it's a fun RTS.

Read the first one or two Horus Heresy books. Read some articles on Lexicanum. And just go from there.

I sort of like audio-dramas.

It gives you fuck all of information about 40k universe. What the fuck are Space Hulks? Where the fuck did Chaos Space Marines come from? Why the fuck are we even fighting these other Space Marines?
