When i bought it, i was told by the ffl holder than the previous owner had attempted to refinish the stock. I assume this is why the tallies are the way they are.
At first i thought they were a fuck up in shipping, like it had laid on a spring or something, but my based Vietnam-vet dad took one look at it and said "oh my sweet baby jebus, thems head count," as they vary in length and spacing. I sure hope they are, cause that's cool as fuck, but if someone can give me reason as to why they wouldn't be tallies, i'd probably go by that from then on.
