Think about how fucking huge Jupiter is for a bit.

Now imagine living on one Jupiter's moons. Or imagine standing on a hydrogen refinery floating among its clouds. Imagine falling off.

Billions of civilizations might be contained in this image. Some just emerging, others dying, some discovering electricity, the atom bomb, fusion. An unfathomable number of sentient beings living, suffering, and dying.

Or maybe we're completely alone in the silence.

Either aliens are real or we're completely alone in this endless universe.

Both are equally terrifying.

>Now imagine living on one Jupiter's moons. Or imagine standing on a hydrogen refinery floating among its clouds. Imagine falling off.

There used to be a space sim for Unix with buggy gravity that you could thankfully turn on or off. I parked on one of Jupiter's moons, turned gravity back on, and the gravity sucked me from the moon's surface into Jupiter.

Right here's my thoughts.. Maybe there is some et life somewhere among the sixtillion (10^21) galaxies but I don't believe there's any within the range of our little planets

 No.17879

>>17139

No it isn't. If there are aliens, there's nothing to suggest they're either intent on harm or help, or even neutrality, and as such are a complete anomaly, calling that terrifying is like someone being scared of the sun before being told what it is.

And if we're alone, it's exactly the same as we've been living for the past however long Humans have been alive, and we've all been fine.

So what are you talking about?

Well… yeah. Imagine you've never heard of the sun before. You step out of your cave for the first time and there's some sort of giant ball of fire hurtling through the air? You'd shit your loincloth.

People fear the unknown, m8, and for good reason.

If ghosts are non-corporeal but not affected by gravity, we are leaving a ring of ghosts around the sun similar to the debris around Saturn
