If the whole universe is ending that is covered too. The hindu scriptures talk about the day and night of Brahma. At the end of the cycle the entire universe is reabsorbed, recycled and recreated. Meanwhile the souls are held in status for when the planets are ready. And thus everything comes into being again.

If you assume there is some kind of intelligence behind this thing, then it would only make sense that you, when appropriate, reincarnate at only higher levels, or at worse, the same.

The whole deal is about learning, in situations of ever-increasing complexity (or else you don't learn). Reincarnating into an animal would not do this as it is a backward-step.

when we die , we reincarnate to something we longed for when we were alive. Nature doesn't know what is good and what is bad. For the nature , a pig and a rich man is the same coz both of them are life.

Say if you are a sort of person who crave for food ( you are a foody) you have a longing for food so the chances are you will be born as a pig. If you were a serial killer and loved killing people ( like a psycho ) chances are you will be born as a tiger , lion or any other predator. nature seem to understand the longing of every soul and fills the soul accordingly to the different roles like this.

There are no real hell and heaven. Hell and heaven are no physical places . Let me prove that. You have brain to limit yourself on your thought. When you feel sad your make your brain to think something which makes you happy. Brain gives and limits every kind of feelings in you. Brain is a part of your body but what happens when you die ? There is no brain. When you die of sadness or fear ( like if someone killed you ) your feeeling of fear gets multiplied to infinity and that is hell ( coz there is no brain to limit it ) , I hope you are following me? I am poor at english but I hope I am able to explain it well.

When you die of old age with peace in your mind , your conciousness will be full on peace and that is heaven. That is when we say you are in heaven.

When you die of accident , your conciousness is full of fear and after you die your brain is no more there to limit your fear so you are in hell.

last but not hte least. Peaceful death gives you a quick reincarnation and painful death

will take a long time for you to reincarnate coz it have to wait to lower the intensity of your fear and pain for you to reincarnate.

how to escape from reincarnation and all its suffering? well its very easy. Meditate and realize that you are not different from anything in this world. All are the part of the nature. Once you attain this enlightment your entire senses will burst with ecstasy and if you continue to feel this ecstasy you will become samadhi and will get dissolved with nature escaping from the cycle of birth.
