This topic really needs to be addressed if MAPs want to achieve any of their goals. I think that the anger here might just be part of chan culture, or it could be from self-haters and antis too.

The best thing to do would be to stop responding to those who engage in this behavior.

It's because some people come in here and think they are talking about pedophilia. While what they are really talking about is their high opinions of themselves.

You try to get rid of them, because they are uniteresting to talk and listen to. But it has sometimes opposite effect.

It's a desperate situation. Because no matter what themes, you will listen to those who are intelligent. They are here but they are buried by fools and their uninteresting opinions.

I don't need help from a mod, and I've never been "called out." I've only been on this board for three days now and noticed there seemed to be a lot of anger spewed forth instead of intelligent replies to someone's post.

It's probably ones of the few places we can vent frustration. Also, on the whole, it doesn't seem like pedos really like each other that much. Gays have to like each other, because they fuck each other, thus have a reason to play nice together, but we don't, so there is little interest in keeping in each others good graces. Also, what else is there to talk about?

Also, namefags like yourself tend to collect hate, since people will remember everything you say and when a thread inevitably veers into a moral debate, everything will be blown back in your face. Every post I've made here since I first posted as Zed has had the name Zed on it except for 1 because I was trying out using Tor browser and using a name or a tripcode would have defeated the purpose of using Tor in the first place.

It does seem that when a person starts losing an debate they tend to get defensive and start calling people names.

I'm like you, I use a name not to "get attention" but to let people know this is my stance on a subject and I'm secure enough to back it up without hiding.

We used to get a lot of people like that on a couple boards I helped run as a mod and we found the best way to weed them out was to ignore them completely and they soon got bored (or pissed at the fact no one took them seriously enough to reply to them) and they'd go away.

Oh well, it is what it is and will probably never change. I just think it makes people sound immature and shows a lack of social skills. It's like you said, when a person is losing a debate they resort to name calling.

I agree. I don't think debates can be won or lost. People have their beliefs and in general stick to them even in the face of indisputable evidence. That doesn't justify resorting to name calling when someone doesn't agree with you though.

No one will ever have the answer, especially in regards to pedophilia. There is no black and white. What some children may be able to handle at a certain age doesn't mean all children of that age could handle it (either physically or emotionally). Hell, that applies to adults as well.

I think hostility is just a deep seated circumstance of the internet, and even more so on places with anonymity, and then add to that that we're discussing something very controversial and it becomes unavoidable. The only winning move is not to play.

lurker, not a pedo but it seems to have been a product of *chan culture, mainly the radicalization which brought about gamergate and the strong /pol/ influence which was brought to 8chan.

Remembering how 12chan was (yes I used to post on there when it was a clearnet site) that site was much nicer, but I remember in 07-08 the uh zeitgeist of *chan culture was different (i.e. you had edgelords who stayed on /b/ largelt but no fascists from /pol/)
