Hey can anyone tell me how to remove exif/identifying data from camera picture files so I can upload my own photos to some of these threads? I don't know anything about that kind of stuff, so some help would be great so I can contribute. I heard Imgur removes it, is that true? If that's the case can I just upload to Imgur, save, and then upload the saved files here? Does Imgur have a size/resolution cap?

Thanks! Here's a hot Bully dog :)

There's a command line app called exiftool, among others: http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/

Just guessing you're running windows:

>ii) Stand-alone version in the Windows GUI:

>Double-click on "exiftool(-k).exe" to read the application documentation, or drag-and-drop files and folders to run exiftool on the selected files.

If you only have a few pics, you can open the file in an image editor, create a new empty canvas alongside, copy and paste the image contents, and save the new file, but jpg to jpg may cause quality loss.

Wait I think this was the command I used last time:

http://www.linux-magazine.com/Online/Blogs/Productivity-Sauce/Remove-EXIF-Metadata-from-Photos-with-exiftool

Sometimes, it is a good idea to scrub EXIF metadata from photos before sharing them, and there is no better tool for the job than exiftool. The command below nukes all EXIF metadata in a photo in one fell swoop (replace foo.jpg with the actual file name):

>exiftool -all= foo.jpg

This command removes EXIF metadata from the specified photo, but what if you need to process multiple photos? Then you can use the following command which cleans all the photos in the current directory:

>for i in *.jpg; do echo "Processing $i"; exiftool -all= "$i"; done

Instead of purging all EXIF metadata from a photo, you can also remove individual fields. For example, the following command can come in handy when you need to remove geographical coordinates embedded in the photo:

>exiftool -geotag= foo.jpg

And the command below can help you to remove geotags from multiple photos in one go:

>for i in *.jpg; do echo "Processing $i"; exiftool -geotag= "$i"; done

A really easy way is to open the picture in something like GIMP and save it as a PNG. Close the program, open it again, and save the picture as a JPG again.

That is, by far, the easiest way to remove EXIF data from images.
