I'm of two minds on this. On the one hand, this dude saying it's overblown or anthropomorphization, he's got a point. I mean, look at OP's pic. The dog is closing his eyes. That's RETARDED. The whole eye-closing thing is a social affectation that comes from all the weird, complicated bullshit that other animals don't have. That's half of why we like them, and I think we make ourselves look really goddamn stupid when we forget that. Compared to us, dog emotional states and relationships are simple, in a way that feels better and wiser than the various layered anxieties that make up a human superego.
On the other hand, that doesn't necessarily make them any less passionate. If you're just fucking your dog, if you don't feel a deeper connection, that's your own inability. They care about us, just as we care about them. And the fact is, they understand us alot more than we understand them. They've evolved specifically to do so.
