As far as I could tell it's not like they were adding insidious shit like reddit threads and stupid forum features (correct me if I'm wrong, cause if they did that might change my opinion).
I don't know what the fuck is wrong with the current software. They just said they can't integrate it with caching and scaling for whatever reason, and obviously the front page caching is all fucked up.
Keeping it simple is overwhelmingly the way to go (and not only for chans), and one of the reasons is it's supposed to be easier to implement and maintain. So I don't get what road you have to take to get it this fucked up. Sure there's scaling but nobody mistakes 8chan for twitter.
