We need to take steps to ensure our privacy. Do not let them pull the "if you've got nothing to hide" card; that's like saying we don't need freedom of speech because "I have nothing to say." I have nothing to hide. I am not a terrorist nor am I interested in helping terrorists, but my emails and such are mine and I refuse to lay down and let the government walk all over my freedoms. So, if they want to exploit me, I'll make them work for it. So should you.

Useful Links

If you'd like to suggest links or tips for this sticky, be sure to let me know!

http://sunnah.com/ - The Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه و سلم)

http://quran.com/ - Read and listen to Qur'an online.

http://www.inter-islam.org/Seerah/ - Biography of the Prophet Muhammad( عليه السلام‎)

Useful Tips

Obviously from time to time someone will come to this board and they wish to discuss a portion of Qur'an or the life of the Prophet(عليه السلام) or the tribal practices of certain people(s). There is nothing wrong with questioning and questions should never be shunned. All answers lay within Qur'an.

Taqiyya (تقية) is the Shi'a practice of concealing one's religion when in a life threatening situation and is unheard of in Sunni fiqh. It is NOT a license to spread misinformation or lie about Islam to non-Believers. Anyone who believes everything you say, regardless of how well sourced, is a lie, then there is nothing you can do. Don't argue with them. Just smile and walk away. They will claim it is taqiyya, even though you did not make it up.

Do not mix truth with falsehood and do not deliberately hide the truth Qur'an 2:42

Note that all Believers - Shi'a, Sunni, Ibadi, Sufi, Druze, Salafi, regardless of masjid affiliation - are welcome on this board. However, Qur'anists (those who reject hadith) and Jihadis (radical Islamists) can go to their respective boards: >>>/modernislam/ and >>>/islamicstate/. They are not considered Muslims and can take it up with Allah.

c66797 No.11500[Reply]

Hello people,

First of all, I hope you are all doing well, for you are all my brothers and sisters, muslim or not.

For a while I have thought of becoming muslim. And with a while, I mean around three-four years. I have thought of becoming an Orthodox christian too, but after following a year of theology classes I have come to the conclusion that Islam is, theologically speaking, more reasonable (to me).

Now, the problem that I have is that I am not accustomed to Islamic rituals whatsoever. I have no muslims in my family nor do I have an Arabic background (I'm western European). Yes, I believe in God and the oneness of God.

But I do not know how to pray. I got some muslim friends but I am afraid to tell them that I want to become muslim, because then there is no way back. I am quite a person with quickly changing thoughts, hence my question here. Yesterday I layed in my bed, and as a flash, I felt the urge that I NEED to pray, in order to come in Heaven (or Jannah, whatever you prefer). Plus, my parents are very hostile to Islam.

All in all, sorry for this chaotic post, but I have no idea what I should do.

57939c No.11501

>>11500

> I am not accustomed to Islamic rituals

Well, you're in luck! You've thought about becoming Orthodox Christian, yes? Well, compared to O.C., Islam is practically devoid of ritual.

A few very simple prayer positions and, since you'll be surrounded on all sides by brothers in Islam, then you can easily watch and follow their lead.

Muslims are very, very welcoming of new people. Just go to the mosque and say, "I'm new." and they will instruct you and show you the ropes. There will even be a brother who becomes sort of an instructor who will personally take it upon himself to guide you.

>there is no way back

Well, yes, you can always renounce Islam; but why would you want to join something with the thought of wanting a way out?

>parents hostile to Islam

Part of Jihad is the struggle against what others may think of you.

8eedd2 No.11480[Reply]

Salaam Brothers. I am a 19 year old white male from the united states. For the longest time I have struggled with religion. I have read alot about Islam. For some reason I feel like I'm being pulled to Allah. I don't know how to explain it but I feel it.

For the longest time I have been involved in many activities that are forbidden in Islam. I really enjoy them but they are haram. I fap alot to furry stuff, eat non halal, I drink, I smoke Marijuana and I'm not circumcised. I don't know how to get away from these things that are haram.

I have in the past when I misunderstood islam, I mocked Islam. I know Allah forgives and I want to get closer to him.

I have some questions too.

1. What is Jannah like?

2. Will the things I said I did like drinking, eating non halal, etc will these always be haram? Even in Jannah and after judgement?

It has been said you can have anything you want in Jannah, what if the thing you desire is haram? And with me fapping to furries is that haram? Is that haram to have in Jannah?

3. Do I need to be circumsised?

4. What are the differences between Sunni, shiite, Ibadi, etc and which is right for me? Does Allah condem other sects?

5. What do you think of the "Children of the book" idea? I am currently a non practicing catholic. Does Allah condem the jews and Christians even though they stil worship Allah (swt)

6. What does (swt) in reference to Allah and what is (صلى الله عليه و سلم) in reference to the prophet Muhammed?

7. Do I need to marry?

8. Will Palestine ever be free again?

And finally if god created everything, why did he let other cultures that do not worship Allah (swt) to exsist? Thousands of years of history and culture yet is is false? It just sePost too long. Click here to view the full text.

Many things which are not pure which you may desire here you won't desire in Jannah. You'll definitely forget about wanting furry stuff when there are the hoor al ayn.

Also the worship which the Christians practice is pretty shirky and the Jews innovate a lot about Allah too. So it's obviously up to Allah alone who gets to Jannah or not.

Palestine will also be liberated eventually, because the believers will always win in the end even if things look bad currently.

Lastly Allah has sent a prophet to every culture/people. But if they're indeed ignorant of Allah they will be judged accordingly.

They are not but [mere] names you have named them - you and your forefathers - for which Allah has sent down no authority. >they are not in the wrong for taking slaves

I have to say that is at least half wrong. Islam treats slavery like a social illness, and some social illnesses can't be abolished outright. Take slavery here in America as an example, when it was suddenly abolished it caused social issues and resentment that still exist today (and I'm not saying slavery should still exist here in america, it never should have existed in the first place, raiding the coast of africa for slaves would have not been permissible under Islam.) Islam sought to fix the problem of slavery gradually so it imposed several restrictions on taking new slaves and gave out several opportunities and rewards for releasing slaves, along with rules and regulations on owning and taking care of slaves. I think it is safe to say that Islam recognized slavery as a bad thing and sought ways to get rid of it gradually.

3272ce No.11494

>>11493

I do agree it's better to release a slave there are many rewards for that in the afterlife, but you can also see how slavery if practiced properly can allow for the opportunity to learn about and embrace Islam. If you look through history you can see how slaves who were captured in war by Muslims, turned around and became some of the biggest supporters of Islam. Such as the Mamluks who started as kaffir slaves from Turkic and Slavic tribes but then became Muslim and saved the Muslim world from the Mongol invasion.

There were some benefits long ago, and that is why I don't think it was abolished outright like alcohol eventually was, but I don't think it applies today's world and society.

I do think there is a degree of arrogance in a man that desires to own another human being, especially when it is no longer common place. And as good Muslims we should avoid arrogant acts.

Oh I see you banned him (a little harsh of a reaction, but you do your thing because I get you can see stuff we can't, such as past posts)

=BUT=

I was all ready for his response though, he was going to say something like drawing images is haram and I was going to say it's okay (at least from my understanding and research) that cartoons are fine because they are not meant to depict real people and the more abstract the cartoon is the more okay it is. The only thing I found that might count as haram is wasting your time with cartoons/anime when you could be more productive, or that some cartoons/anime that depict haram things or behavior.

We could also turn this thread into a discussion about why certain drawing are okay, cartoons and nature drawings, and certain drawing are bad, real life people and animals. From what I understood it was trying to copy the image something that had a soul? (I could be wrong about that). Or the more realistic it is the more it's trying to copy the actual creation of God.

It's interesting to note that Islam allows toys and dolls and statues of trees but not real life statues of people. There was a hadeith that talked about the angel Gabriel coming to Muhammad and telling him he was not allowed to visit with him when he was around a statue of a person and if he removed the head of the statue it could be counted as a statue of a tree (thus making it abstract) and he could visit him in that place again.

Modesty requirements are for both men and women. Because of culture and politics requirements tend to be strictly enforced for women but loosely for men but this is culture not religion. In truth both men and women must dress modestly but full coverings like the burka or niqab are completely unnecessary. Men's clothing must be loose and while most say that it must only cover from knees to naval but unless you are laboring outside I would argue true modesty would entail covering the legs down to the ankles the full torso with long sleeves and preferably a hat or other head covering so basically the same requirements for women. But I am not a scholar that is just my opinion.

As for most other issues women do have many rights under Islam virtually all gender discrimination in "Muslim" countries is culture and politics separate from or even directly opposed to Islam. In fact there are some areas where women are meant to have more rights than men. Women are allowed to keep the money they earn separate but men are required to use their money to support their family.

a3fca6 No.11023[Reply]

Greetings, i want your advice. This will be a bit long but i need to explain my whole situation.

I am a ethnic (white) Swede with no family connection to Islam or the Middle East whatsoever. Or to religion at all, for that matter, all my relatives and most others around seem to think religion is stupid, more or less.

Since my early teens i have been interested in Islam, along with a passing interest in other religions, but i always felt that Islam was something for me, but i could never find a way to get into it. There are a lot of Muslim immigrants around here now, and there are actually several mosques in this city, but they are all very "ethnic"-one Kurdish, one Iranian, one Somali, and they don't advertise in Swedish or welcome Swedes in any way, as most of them probably can't speak it at all.

So i always felt that there was no clear way to become a Muslim if you weren't born into it, and judging by all the signs there are very few actual ethnic Swedes who have done so. Curiously, i had some Middle Eastern friends who were all pretty negative towards it, some even became irreligious Christians just to distance themselves from their upbringing, so they have been of no help.

I have checked all over the Web, of course, but everything related to "Swedish Muslims" seems to be all about immigrants and not aimed at ethnic Swedes at all. The websites of the mosques and organizations here are mostly written in Arabic or some other language, or in such bad Swedish it doesn't make any sense at all, further showing they have few if any ethnic Swedish participants, and don't care to get any either.

So what do you suggest i do in this situation? Moving is out of the question, and i wouldn't even know to where.

OP Bro don't be an idiot. This is a bad time for muslims. According to hadith prophecy millions of muslims will be killed by people of other faith. This was foretold and there is nothing that can stop this. Just be who you are, be safe and help muslims(if you want).

But Saudis give quran translation for free. Send a letter to saudi embassy in your country, you'll get one.

Translation is not forbidden. You just need to acknowledge it would never as good as understanding it in arabic.

It's sad to hear that many ethnicities isolate themselves like that. If you live in a big enough town there should be a more cosmopolitan islamic centre.

I'm starting to realize that anyone who uses the term "Wahabbi" doesn't care about facts or reality. It is a scapegoat for people who follow innovations and secular ideologies.

I used to use the term "Wahabbist" to refer to Salafi Jihadists, but this board actually taught me that Wahab was a scholar and teacher, not a movement.

Alhamdulillah, I am glad you understand now. We all mistakes, myself especially.

That is part of the problem too. This term is so actively used now, people associate it to a certain group not even knowing what it means. I have read blogs from Muslims using this term and I am shocked at how strong their opinions are with how little they know.

How has Islam helped you? Is the cost worth the benefit?

What can Allah do for me if I subscribe to his religion?

I don't think there is a person here that believes you are a real Muslim (unless they are new to Islam or a non-Muslim visitor).

And I'm pretty sure when you change your IP to something different we will still be able to spot you.

And just to let you know if you decide to say or do anything illegal, proxies won't help you, the FBI caught Joshua Goldberg and he supposedly hid behind 7 proxies.

He could be what we call a "cultural muslim". Someone raised in Islamic traditions, though without the benefit of a Muslim education.

A lot of Pakistani Shi'a and Indian Sunni are like that. Muslim in name only.

Who is this Joshua Goldberg?

FBI will arrest you for being a terrorist recruiter. I hope they do. No offense. Why do they give visas to terrorists like you?

Nobody here is a terrorist recruiter.

Someone else who thought it would be funny to pretend to be Muslim. It didn't turn out too well for him in the end, thanks to the FBI.

>>11386

He uses the word "infidel" (along with other things only people pretending to be Muslims would say) he is definitely not any kind of Muslim. And it's pretty easy to change your IP so you can get a different country's flag on here, I've seen it done on other boards, in fact I saw someone go through all of Africa's flags in one thread and it was clearly the same guy because of what his posts had in them.

>What am I supposed to answer if a non-muslim asked me this?

Nothing. We don't worry about what non-Muslims think. Allah will steer who He wills, not us.

Its clear from your other posts on this board you are a non-muslim and are just pretending to be Muslim because you are pathetic and have nothing better to do. We've dealt with posters like you before and are used to it.

Pot calling kettle black. May Allah restore your dead braincells.

We were having nice conversation and you just had to jump in and ruin it! Not nice. I will never forgive you and keep you from entering jannah.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't work like that.

>I will never forgive you

Your forgiveness is neither asked for, nor required, by anyone.

>keep you from entering jannah

That's a power you'll never have.
