Title.

First question, what rifle round could punch through soft body armor, pass through a body, and then out the other side?

Would steel-core 7.62tok be able to do this? I've heard it's notorious for over-penetration on unarmored target, and that even with lead-core bullets it could easily penetrate body armor that most pistol rounds couldn't.

bc309c No.332276[Reply]

G'day /k/

There's a pro-firearms group in Straya called Firearm Owners United (check them out on fb) that's run by a group of extremely motivated /k/ommandos and shooters, It's been quickly gaining headway within the firearms community and been the bane of the anti-gun media over the past couple of years, to the point where these guys are now getting invited to the unveiling of new Australian-made guns.

Inspired by the great successes of burgerland over the past 30 years for self defence and derestricting guns in general, they're currently having a donation drive to put up pro-fun billboards all across Australia for the purpose of defending gun rights and getting salt on a grand scale, the biggest yet in fact.

The pro-gun movements in Australia have been picking up some real steam now that the #Chan-raised youngbloods are displacing the old fudds of the previous "pro gun" organisations.

Even with the anniversary of the port arthur massacre coming up shortly, we've never been stronger, well organised or as well funded overall, and frankly it's because we've seen you guys do it and we want to emulate that.

But we're still small, and still a bit short on cash for getting real world stuff done in a timely manner.

I am not apart of the guys organising this, but it is something I really want to happen and hope that I can convince some of you to help chip in to make this a reality.

The exchange rate between USD and AUD is 1.34 at the moment, and the buying power per dollar is about the same. So any dollar you guys can spare is multiplied by an extra third in real terms.

Thanks /k/unts.

>And it's the right thing to do.

No it isn't.

>If your statistic is omitting some information, it's worth jack shit.

Yeah which is why I suggested a "damaged" category.

German data suffers from not enough info and Soviet data suffers from blatantly wrong data. A tank that gets towed out of mud is not destroyed.

>On the flipside, if you record every incident of tank getting penetrated, stuck, internal failures, etc., you get good breakdown about possible problems with it, you have something to work with in terms of improving the machine.

Sure, but classifying them as destroyed is not correct.

I hope you're not implying that the Germans didn't keep any records on tank maintenance.

>Part of the reason Germans did so poorly in WW2 is dishonest statistics reporting, they deluded themselves into thinking they're some unstoppable war machine.

No, it wasn't that fact that Germany was up against an alliance with multiple times the industrial capacity, it must be that Germans are all delusional liars!

Come on now.

e1b37e No.335406

Well if you read the papers they exceedingly rarely write "destroyed", they write them as "put out of service". It's a grand total of all tanks that were put out of service for any reason. There's separate statistics for different reasons why they were put out.

So just count the unrecoverable losses when comparing to German data.

Problem solved, much ado about nothing.

To be honest, someone should probably write a book analyzing WW2 losses and statistics, maybe even include the primary sources, there would certainly be enough material to go on.

But it is made operationally unusable.

If you start with 1000 tanks and 100 get stuck in mud before reaching target, the politicians have to know about it if they're going to make policy changes or approve a new variant.

Would you vote for me? my stance on gun rights:

repeal the 1934 NFA. nobody cares if your rifle is 15.9999 inches, you have a silencer or a machine gun.

repeal the 1968 GCA. let's import guns again. and if you're out of jail, you've done your debt to society. you shouldn't be branded for life. (repeat felons is more of a criminal justice problem which is a whole other story)

repeal hughes amendment. let the free market prohibit machine guns to undesirables (I can imagine a full auto gun selling for no less than $3000 today)

if a gun is used in a crime, make the punishment much more severe.

Like I seriously don't get this argument. Its typically done by gender specials or those that support them so why use it as a means of insult? These are typically the same people that say having a boy wear a dress is fine/toxic masculinity is bad/objects can and cannot be gendered/etc. Can you not own a gun and be a transfaggot to these people or something?

They claim to believe that gender roles are bad/are social constructs yet will then try to shame those who disagree with them by saying they have small dicks/are compensating. Which is also something that runs counter to their views. I thought you didn't need a to have a dick to be a man, and that these gender stereotypes are false or don't exist?

This isn't even getting into the whole dildo edits thing. Which considering how sex/gender obsessed these people tend to be, why is having a dildo an insult? Couldn't it be seen as kink shaming or homophobic from their view? Since they are saying guns=dildos and guns=bad, therefore dildos=bad?

I am seriously trying to figure out all this shit.

Also pics/edits to fuck with this line of reasoning if you got any.

I'm not saying it's true or not, I don't know. But if the races vary, even in gestation, and even r-selected humans are more K than almost any other species, then I bet there are variances between liberals and conservatives. Which one, for instance, is more likely to spend more time interacting with kids and teaching them?

>Which one, for instance, is more likely to spend more time interacting with kids and teaching them?

Probably the parents who buy parenting books and read parenting magazines, i.e., liberal parents. Which is the other problem with this theory–it implies that SWPL liberal parents should be pumping out kids and leaving them to more or less fend for themselves, and that's almost the exact opposite of how they behave. Small families, exceptionally high parental investment.

>>334793

>But allot of the other features are observable in populations living in a glut.

Meaningless piffle. Lots of features of both r- and K-selected species are visible in times of resource abundance and scarcity both, because lots of species have r-selected mating strategies, lots of species have K-selected mating strategies, and there are lots of times when resources are either abundant or scarce. r- vs K-selection as applied to culture wars consists of saying, "hey, liberals are androgynous and have high time preference, like rabbits, therefore liberals are r-selected." First, this ignores the issue of reproductive adaptations, litter size and so on. Second, it conflates the behavior of SWPL ideological liberals with the welfare-receiving Dem-voting mostly black US underclass. The two groups are very different and neither one is a good match for the Stephen Molyneux picture of r/K selection.

In the absence of birth control/abortions I'm not sure that would apply. And all the liberal women I knew worked or had others raise their kids, the conservatives I've known usually spent more time with kids. Anecdotal, though.

But I agree that applying it to politics/culture is usually a case of calling things you don't like r-/things you like K-. Comparing liberals and conservatives of different races is much less clear then between the races themselves.

>naming it - the camo: disintegration

I wish that fucking airshit rifle would disintegrate.

092322 No.335875

Aight OP, here is some actual constructive criticism. Your pattern is too detailed and busy. Smaller patterns, like Flecktarn, are better for close ranges, while larger patterns like Woodland are better for longer ranges, sine it blends better with the terrain. Also, your camo is too bright. The only thing that neon green in a temperate area might be ferns or other very young plants. There is a reason it is olive drab not olive neon. Darker colors reflect less light, so it takes longer to spot a person in dark camo. Also, be mindful of what camo you will be wearing while carrying your rifle. Make sure the colors don't clash.

Wanted to be a degenerate snow flake and use a carbine instead of an Ar-fagteen or Bro-K-47. Would Hi-points carbine chambered in 9mm be okay? Thinking of pairing it with a baretta nano or other 9mm pistol.

I've always wondered why 9mm/.45cal carbines never took off. Must are ugly as man-ass and the really cool ones never sold well or were too expensive for most to actually own.

As for Hi-Point, it seems like they intentionally make their guns ugly so they don't get banned.

If I recall the Marlin camp carbine in .45 tended to beat itself to death, no clue on the 9x19 one though.

I actually have 2 Calicos. One's a wood stocked .22 rifle and the other is a 9mm with a collapsible stock. I'll be honest, they're not great. The placement of the 100 rnd mag relative to the rear sight on the .22 makes getting a sight picture difficult, it can be done but it's not comfortable for me with a sight that low to the default cheek rest. The 9mm stock has a tendency to collapse when firing and rounds like to misfeed by getting stuck on the ejector pin when that happens. I've never gotten through a whole 100 rnd mag on the 9mm without a misfeed or the stock sliding in. Also, they use a rubber buffer plate that will get hard over time so that's a part you'll want to have a few extras for when the current one wears out.

I may get a 9mm pistol someday, I think that's the form factor where the concept will really shine but I know it will never be a practical carry gun, it just wasn't ever designed for that application. It was meant to be a police weapon, FA capability with a magazine that makes that practical. It's a real shame that it never took off in that market. C'est la vie.

I'll never get rid of my Calicos and in spite of their problems they are fun guns when they're working right and an interesting concept that was sadly not fully realized. I think the 9mm models could have been significantly improved if the mags were placed over the barrel and fed to the rear of the weapon like a P90 but that would have been impossible with the .22 models. If you're a collector like me you should get one for the weirdness and stick to the fixed stock or pistol versions but if you want a practical rifle you're probably better off with something like an SKS or a cheap blowback 9mm.

What passes for a cheap, usable Saturday Night Special these days, /k/?

Alternatively, what's a cheap handgun that shoots cheap, without being worthless if I have to ventilate Jamal's chest?

How are you lumping Makarovs together with hi-points? Makarovs are more than 300 dollars now and they're actually pretty good guns. I think guns similar to the makarov like that Polish radom or whatever it's called are still cheap.

The Mad Balls® are still the premium choice for affordable self-defense. Cheap, easy to make and completely untracable.

Yet I STILL think soap bars are best suited for the task.
