So YandereDev's working on elimination methods now. I know he hates hates hates suggestions, but I just thought of the most sadistic elimination method yet: Disfigurement by Burning.
You ever seen pictures of third degree facial burn or acid throwing attack victims? They're horrifying and repulsive, even physiologically painful to look at - barely even human. You want to fucking euthanize them. Sounds like an ideal way to dispose of a pretty girl courting Senpai.
I was thinking, because you can dump buckets of water on girls, or even crush them with objects thrown from the rooftop, and there's a sink on the roof, why not dump boiling water on a girl? (Or sulfuric acid from the Science Lab) She'll scream in horrific agony as her life as a pretty girl ends forever. She'll spend the rest of their days looking like skull face, if she doesn't just kill herself outright.
This is incredibly sadistic, something only the most evil person would even consider. Because of this, there could be like, a 50+% drop in sanity after committing such an atrocity.
What does /v/ think of this slowpoke idea? Is it worth going full Midori over?

So I was replaying the TRUTH mission in MGSV for 100% completion and I can't believe I didn't notice this earlier.

So according to this vid, one of the changes coming this year is a major overhaul because "the game is too hard for beginners" and so a bunch of changes will happen including getting rid of the Void and changing the way guns level which will make several mandatory mods we all have invested in worthless. Am I the only one who thinks this is fucked? Is this true? Is there any reason to be optimistic that this won't just fuck the game up for everyone who has been invested and dedicated to Warframe?

TL;DR: Persona thread
I made one of these threads after finishing the first Persona, so I may as well make another one of them.
I decided it was time to try the Persona series after ignoring it for years. I liked the first one, it was great, especially the music (played the Japanese PSX version). I just played the PSP versions of Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment.
These two games were really hyped up, pretty much just for the story. The story was definitely interesting, especially in Innocent Sin, I thought the cast really worked well together too. It was really damn easy too. I basically just Fusion Skilled my way through the game.
A lot of people seem to really like Eternal Punishment, though I wasn't as thrilled by it. I think it's because, as far as the story goes, anyone who played IS would pretty much know what was going on, I didn't expect to have to chase after some idiot who was being tricked into repeating the events of IS for most of the game. If I hadn't played IS I think I would have been much more interested in it. The dungeons sucked because the random battle rate was insane.
Which of the two do you prefer? What do you think about the old games compared to Persona 3 and 4? I've heard Persona 3 is where the series changes quite a bit, and it sounds like I'll either love it, like it, or hate it. I'll play Persona 3: FES in a bit. The Persona 2s already felt like they were lacking something the first game had, I'm not sure what. I think part of it is that in the first game shit just got fucked up all of a sudden, In the Persona 2s it was more just strange things going on for awhile until things got really fucked up toward the end. It also didn't help that people just ignored demons in Persona 2. The guy running Giga Macho didn't seem terribly perturbed by me fighting demons 15 feet away from him.
Another thing about EP is the villain. He didn't seem quite the same in EP as he did in IS. You really got the impression that he was a master puppeteer in IS, and even after pounding him, he doesn't even seem out of breath. In EP he just seemed like more of a bastard than anything and lost his shit after getting a beat down.
Also, why was Philemon sort of phasing in and out when you first see him in EP? I thought they'd explain this, but if they did, I missed it.
I'm not really totally sure of my thoughts on EP yet. It was alright, but kinda "meh". There was also some really annoying design aspects, like the pitfalls in the Undersea Ruins that dropped you nearly back to the beginning of the dungeon. Without save scumming or Estoma that'd be hell. Also, IS just felt like it was a good wrap up, EP felt unnecessary, though it was satisfying to slap Nyarlathotep's shit again. Though with other Tatsuya consigned to a doomed world… that's worse than just having his memory wiped.
Speaking of him, how is the new scenario for the PSP version? I just remembered it, I haven't played it. Not sure if I will this time or not, it doesn't sound terribly interesting.

Oh yeah, and Maya not talking at all (aside from some stuff in battle) was one of the worst things about Eternal Punishment.

Which game should have been the last in the series and why?
Personally, I think the series should've ended with MGS3. It gives us some actually crucial backstory on Big Boss that changes how we look at him (as opposed to the unnecessary side stories that are Peace Walker and TPP), and it has the best gameplay in the series. It also doesn't needlessly explain the threads left intentionally loose in MGS2 and doesn't reveal the most stupidest twist in the entire series, in which Naked Snake's support team turn out to be the founders of the Patriots.

Gear VR DEMO
So I have a confession to make, /v/. I didn't think the fucking gear VR would be cool, and I certainly still don't think it would be good for vidya just yet, but it is absolutely fucking amusing to put it on and actually feel like you're somewhere else. I put the demo shit on and there were places it would take you. From standing in the middle of an ocean, to being on the middle of a stage with actors, to being in a room full of asians eating in a room. The last one was watching this smug fuck playing the piano in a giant mansion with a smoking cigar…but anons…it really fucking felt like I was there.
If I could rename this thing, it should be called the dream. It feels like a dream you can consciously see and actually can use your wakeful logical mind to see in this sort of dream thing, but you can't move…which is depressing. If anything, it makes you sad because it shows you fun places with people who look like they are interacting with you when they can't see you and you can't do anything or say anything to them….it feels weird, anons.

Why is the elite 4 so hard in this game? I flew through Heartgold but this game is kicking my shit in. Why? I'm not used to Pokemon being hard. I feel like I have to actually grind all the way to 70 just to beat the elite 4 for the first time, and that's fucking ridiculous.
Just traded my PS4 and $750 (CAD) dollars worth of games for a GTX 970 4GB.

FFXI Private Server installation instructions - Manual Patch/Repair method
First install both Playonline and FFXI on your computer, there are a variety of ways of doing this.
Retail version, steam version, Torrented version, or official from Squares site (http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/download/media/install_win.html)
Once both FF and Playonline is installed, go into Playonline and update it, once it's updated, say you're an existing member, and make a bullshit account
Once Playonline is finished installing Go to tehkrizz.net/FFXI/downloads.php and download the FEB patch files, which, if done correctly
would only take about 3-4 hours of updating. (Most likely less than that though, since the files are fixed, USE A DOWNLOAD ACCELERATOR) (but we'll go over that in the next step)
Take the files from the download you just got from tehkrizz's site, and move JUST the MOV, ROM and SOUND folders into your Final fantasy XI directory, allow it to overwrite
everything it's asking to overwrite
Once that is finished, take http://www.dspt.info/FFXI-UpdatePatch.zip this patch, and move & replace the files within the Final Fantasy XI directory
Then run the Playonline Viewer
Select "Check files"
Check files for both Playonline and for FFXI (FFXI should have "Version unknown")
The check file for FFXI should find anywhere between 2000 to 7000 "Broken" files, repair these (This process should take about 3-4 hours, maybe less)
After updating is complete, and your head filled with that wonderful playonline music, take the /data/ folder from the PlayonlineViewer directory and move it to Final Fantasy XI's
directory

It's been my main outlet for escapism lately, and I've been playing it slow and savorously, fully immersing myself in the world and taking the time to gain an in depth understanding of each civilization and their culture as I encounter them learning the complexities of their interactions and how they perceive one another. I've taken the time throughout to develop characterizations for my royal family and generals all built from the archetype of the heroic figure my royal families name is taken. I've been playing like I'm the living spirit of this Archetype dwelling within my expanding Kingdom influencing it's development and mediating through my chosen royal vassals. I've spent most of my playthrough imagining the people of my Kingdom and the people who come under my authority falling and love with and expanding the culture I've brought to them, developing a mythological narrative that coincides with the growing narrative of my nation that is expressed through the shrines and temples built in honor of it, through the art they create in stories shared at the amphitheater and holidays. Taking the time to weave all of this into the game makes it unfold like a grand scale theater of war drama taking place in a vivid breathing world.
What I need to discuss though, is actual tactics in regards to the battles. I've been playing as Pontus, and as I've established Hellenistic dominance across Anatolia and Lesser Armenia, the Parthian Empire arose as an Iranian nationalist power through the Silk Road and Mesopotamia, becoming my principle rival. The Parthians have tactics and army compositions unlike any of my previous enemies, so my armies are not built to fight against them. My Hoplites are superior to their infantry, but I find myself unable to counter their horse archers and the flanks of their calvary. My Pontic civilian cavalry are outmatched against their Median calvary and I have nothing to match the speed of their horse archers. I've been unable to achieve decisive victories against their armies, leading us to fall back, lick our wounds and return to clash again.
What can be done to overcome the speed of their horse archers and trap them in melee, while repelling their flank attacks? My Kingdom is beset by packs of wolves growing bolder as they circle on the edges of my city states in Lesser Armenia

I've just finished this game. Great game, although I hoped all the repeating cannons and whatnot were a buildup to some really cool final boss fight.
How are the expansions(Extraction Point, Persus Mandate), and how are the sequels? I do vaguely recall playing the third game a while back, and while it was nothing similar to this one I do recall it was decently fun, especially as Paxton Fettle and the Psychic powers. I also remember parts of a really kick-ass mech segment.
Also, are there any games similar to FEAR? Meaty as shit weapons(as in shotguns that reduce an enemy to red mist or can cause dismemberment, assault rifles that leave huge holes in walls, repeating cannons that explode people, particle weapons that reduce people to skeletons etc.), slow motion, nice AI and(optional) a really cool melee system(Also I wonder if a melee only run+pistols+nades is possible?)?
God damn this game was good. One thing I really loved was the lack of jumpscares. From what I remember of FEAR 3's opening there was a jumpscare when pulling some sort of lever. My question is do the expansions or sequels(outside of 3) have frequent jumpscares?

I used to post about this game back in 07, and there were tons of us playing the game. I remember there being a group of almost 400 people from /b/ working together. I came to post it for one to remind people who used to play that there is a lot of updates, including a completely new map, trading and crafting, and lots of new undead skills. I also want to show it to newer people to see if we can all work together, the whole premise of the game is its a survival/horror mmo set in a quarantined city filled with vampires and zombies. You choose to play as a human/vampire/zombie in this city and fight for survival. In terms of game-play its very similar to urban dead except faster paced, and to give fiar warning, there is a AP system, if you don't like that then it might not be for you.
Anyways give it a shot, and if you d come back an log into and older account, there is a button under the movement map that allows you to go to the new map, it will say Go to Serling.
Also, there are some new updates have been added to the game, all new players now start with a walkie talkie(you can use the global channel 27.0 to talk to everyone/ask for help), there are now vaults to store your items(at the banks), traps and and more.
For the most part I think you're all fine lads and lasses but I want answers on some community stuff.
You guys have absolutely no shame in talking about lewd stuff with each other and you'd think that's because of anonymity but as I see it that's not the case, most of you are just unabashed perverts that would talk about that shit IRL if you had the chance. There's always a lot of positive discussion on porn games and lewd things in non-porn games. I'm not criticizing this or anything, I'd like things to stay the way they have.

Hey anons, need help finding a game. It's a pointy clicky from around 2000 I think. I can't remember if it was good but I want to play it again because I think I only played the demo.
You start out driving to some archaeological dig site in new mexico or something, It's just you and a big crevice in the desert. Then you climb down a bit and find some spooky primitive/alien relics and shit. The palette is pretty much orange red and brown with a few blue spots.

I never played a MMO while it was ending, has anyone here? I tried Scarlet Blade back when it first came out. While the tits were nice and all, I realized I just really hated your basic, generic MMO experience, and quit after a few hours. But maybe I'll sign up again and try this out for it's last few days.
I only looked the game up again because I wanted to play something free where I could make a total whore of a character. Any suggestions for games that haven't completely fallen apart yet that I can do that in? Might start up Vindictus again, since I can be a slut and it at least plays like better than most MMOs (to me at least).

I don't come to this board very often, but I have an issue that I need your help with.
See, I'm a pretty hardcore gamer. Back in the day, I was top dps in my raiding guild in WoW. Now that Blizzard's gone to shit I play hardcore Path of Exile as a melee squishy.
Thing is, it stresses me the fuck out, man. It's satisfying, no question about that, but sometimes I just need to relax, y'know? Are there any high-quality games out there that are nice and relaxing, don't require a whole lot of split-second decision making and aren't filled with jumpscares? I'm thinking something deep and story-driven. I'm also fed the fuck up with RNG so there's that.
Also any good hardcore games people recommend? I'm still an MMO gamer at heart but there hasn't been a good MMO since early WotLK WoW. Now everything is nothing but graphics and microtransactions.

7.62 high caliber is the Russian love child of Jagged Alliance. Projectile physics is modeled to the point where accidentally killing yourself via ricochet is very possible.

Basically yes. The game has a story, but not really a memorable one. Most of your time is spent fellating your gun as you mow down bandits, guerillas, native indian rebels and government soldiers all alike
PS. Going full tacticool with your gun can and do incurs massive penalties with your aiming time due to the weight. Waving a 8kg jacked up sniper rifle versus the barebone 5.5kg version of the same rifle feels and shoots very differently.

The most recent iteration to 7.62 is a mod called hard life. The mod definitely has an even more Jagged Alliance feel to it than vanilla. As such, you can smuggle, open up a gunstore, a mine and eventually even raise your own merry band of militia and set off to bring true democracy (voting by gunfire) and liberty (freedom by killing all Jamals).

Yes. A FUCKING GUNSTORE. It works exactly like if you were to open on in a warzone. Pay your rent like a good citizen you are, employ an experienced merc to be the manager of your gunstore (don't forget to pay his salary), obtain beautiful versions of your favourite expensive SF-tier raifus and slap every single accessory your grubby unwashed Jamal disemboweling hands can buy from the local market and resell it to the common people (who don't actually care if the gun can shoot straight. They just want the accessories and bragging rights). In fact, my gunstore is so successful that I made more money in 23 days than I ever did in the first 136. Turns out light machine guns and souped up sniper rifles are really great hits.

I just played my first Metal Gear game :) The one I played was Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes. Took me all night to download the 4.8gigz and I beat the first section in about 2 hours.
Can someone explain to me how I unlock the rest of the game? I completed the side missions but nothing happened, I also checked the store and I couldn't find any DLC or anything. Google is being ambiguous about it too.

Shinji Mikami did some work on this game, so I imagine it was partially inspired by that one tough spiky zombie in Resident Evil 4.

So what do you think about the Dark Zone now its been out for over a week?
I'm only around rank 30 and have been into pve with friends who hate all types of pvp and spent tonight farming up DZ currency before tonights patch nerfs the drop rates and its interesting to watch the player ecology of this unfold.
The idea is sound. Anyone can find great loot, but must extract it at a set series of locations before it is usable. Other players can gank you and steal it to extract themselves or you can work together to clear out the roaming mobs for greater rewards and hope nobody is just waiting to drop a grenade under the evac chopper when you all go to hand your stuff in.
You dont have to be the ganker, but you can and instead of traditional factions or teams this creates a really interesting climate.
Personally i've not gone rogue because i dont like the idea of ruining another players good time and prefer the exploration and looting i do myself gameplay wise and its very satisfying to be jumped by 4 guys talking over voice chat like cliche gangbanger wannabe niggers who then send you hours of hatemail after you stacked crit with crit buffs and high crit/stability smg/marksman rifle builds and they all die to the nugget, it kind of reminds me of what i was sold WoWs world pvp as back in the days of the early 2000's and i wonder what it says about the player who chooses to play their own preferred ways in the DZ.
i also wonder if theres some correlation between rogues/darkwraiths and none hostiles/sunbros in terms of people who play dark souls as well with its invasion mechanics.

That interested me. I've always enjoyed walking around levels just drinking in the art and design, its honestly why i kind of enjoyed Dear Esther before hipsters jumped on the idea of walking simulators as pretentious get out of college free 'art' rather than exploration or explorations sake. I love noticing things in games like the TV's in FF8 displaying Edels screaming from the Lunatic Pandora or walking through an overgrown ghost town suburb in The Last of Us and seeing the remains of a firefight and faded graffiti about looters being shot on sight and wondering 'just how did this all go down and lead to this setting?" and so on. It was strange to hear someone not even notice it is there, which i guess might say something about how certain types of people get immersed different ways than others, but what about you anon?
Do you enjoy looking around and seeing what the level/world can tell you about its story? or is it all just window dressing for the facilitation of gameplay?

Rimworld Thread / Dwarf Fortress-Like General
I never seen anyone talk about this, probably because it's an unfinished game you can only buy directly from the dev.
It's essentially a single layer sci-fi western Dwarf Fortress clone with the addition of cover mechanics similar to CoH/DoW.
Looks quiet similar to Prison Architect and has a some of the same mistakes, like a shallow research tree that might as well not be there and you feel like you've seen everything very quickly.
There's a lot of items but you're stuck being able to craft only shitty ones and have to trade for everything advanced like cybernetic prostheses or even guns.
Was gonna gonna drop it until I looked at the mods and there's a modpack called Hardcore SK that actually fixes most of these issues, mainly by the addiction of more complex resource chains.
If no one wants to talk about it we can talk about Dwarf Fortress and similar games in general.
What other games like that can you recommend?

I loved Hammerfight, and I was really excited when I heard about this game.
Unfortunately, it seems to have a modern setting, so I guess I'll just have to play Hammerfight again to get my helicopter-smashing wrecking ball fix.

Vidya Fundraiser
I've made a thread some weeks ago where I ran a smash tournament for a school club fundraiser. Well it went well, 22 people and raised $200. Now we need to do more fundraisers, and I need ideas.
A few Ideas we spitballed
1) Using a friends gf to stream on twitch to get that beta male $. She doesn't play video games, so we're gonna get her to play huniepop.
Issues: I have never streamed or watched a gurl gamer stream before, so I don't know how to best milk this.
2) Call of Duty tournament at a movie theater using their screens. 4v4 tournament.
Issues: Don't know if wireless controllers can reach the consoles from theater seats to projector. Don't know if the latest COD has all unlocks on local play unlocked already.
Don't know what to give out as a prize to the winning team.
Backup plan: Online tournament instead.
3)Lock in/Lan party
running a lock in at the college. People bring their own setups. Lots of TVs available.
Issues: Age group restrictions? Don't know how many college students will attend, gaming community is kinda sparse. Should underage kids be allowed?

So what are your favorite strategies anon?
My favorite is abusing the shit out of the Nova canon. The dumb fucks always clump their ships together when they're fighting the Imperium so I usually use 3/4 ships with Nova cannons while using Stasis bombs and Micro-warp drives to keep away to get off as many shots as I can before they get to close to fire.
Also I use escort ships as a probe and a diversion at the same time. You just have to upgrade the detection radius and the speed. You should always customize the escorts to fulfill specific roles.

I'm getting really bored of the launches in KSP. I can't time warp, it's REALLY repetitive, and it takes up the vast majority of my time playing the game. It feels REALLY grindtastic.
