Former Valve Employee Tells All

Revealing Valve the "self-organizing company" is a communist shithole ran by untrustworthy and anxious paranoid schizos and manipulated by incompetent bosses, overly-competitive employees and management. Valve, the face of PC gaming is highly compromised. Ever wonder why they haven't done ANYTHING in years? Here we go.

some highlights:

>So-called self-organizing companies have a corporate arm somewhere controlling the entire operation from “above”. Find them and their friends to figure out who has the real power.

>If you’re at a place like this, you must learn who the corporate managers are, who are their friends, and the cliques. They are the ones with real power and everything else is an illusion.

>Another employment tip: Never tell your coworkers or manager that you have a lease, or are locked into anything long term. Leave it ambiguous/private. If they know you’re “locked in” you are opening yourself up to exploitation.

>Another type of temp strategic hire you can make is to recruit a well-known author, a famous dev, or a person with specialized skills (like an economist). Have them write gushingly about their amazing experiences at the company. Once you’re done with them quietly let them go.

>If you run a self-organized firm and you have turned up the anxiety levels too high, your company will become brittle and prone to mass talent flight. Wealthy competitors can come in and make offers and basically steal all your tech and devs right out from under you.

>All legit self-organizing firms have to “leak” an official unofficial Company Manual. It’s got to be slickly made and fun to read. Developer Marketing gurus create these productions to sway new recruits into the Hiring Funnel. Insiders laugh at these things.

Enjoy the sinking ship. More coverage will happen in time.

Game collection thread

Do i have shit taste /v/?

I want to see what you have to say about my game collection.

All my games are vanilla PS3 games, along with a few DSI XL games. I don't have a need or want for next-gen at all.

-Shadow Of The Colosuss (Currently on my 4th playthrough, i have spent way too much time playing that game. Best game of all time, 10/10. I owned the PS2 version for a long time too before my old PS2 bricked.)

-All the CoD games from CoD 3 up to BO3

-Battlefield 4

-God Of War 3

-Far Cry 3 (Also filled with shitty memes and a trippy story.)

-Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon (The enitre game is a self-parody, filled with old memes that aren't funny anymore. Cheesy 90's look sells it for me.)

-Skyrim (Argonian god, level 200. Almost have all skills maxed out, and i did that potion glitch and now i have a set of OP daedric armor that makes me unkillable, along with several other insanley high values. All quests in the base game are done as i don't have the DLC for it and it's boring for me so i don't play it that much.)

-Oblivion (Beat main quest and thieve's guild questline. Speed based light armor nord that never uses magic and is a skilled acrobat with over 100 acrobatics and athetics, along with my character being level 146.)

-GTA 4 Episodes From Liberty City

-Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection

-Fallout New Vegas (Same situation with Skyirm, though i beat all the main, side and DLC quests…except for the battle for hoover dam as i don't want to do that one. Once again, this character is a literal god and has almost every regular and unique weapon in the game, with a glitch that lets me have well over 1 billion caps on hand. Always wearing the Elite Riot Gear and using the Gatling Laser. Hated by all factions and i am pretty much shot on sight by anybody that isn't from Goodsprings as they like me.)

-Doom 3 BFG Edition

-Saints Row 4 (Also a god, used cheats to blast my way through the story in a day and my character has everything in the game.)

-Metriod Prime Hunters (I don't understand why this gem of a game gets so much hate. I have sunk so much time into the game and it's my 3rd favorite game of all time.)

-Pokemon Black (Somebody owned it before me, i got it along with the DSI i still own in 2011. He already had the game's story fully beat so i just got a gameshark and hacked in a ton of level 100 legendaries and went on to gather a large collection of OP pokemon.)

-Call Of Duty Black Ops DS (Another fun FPS for the DS. I have also sunk at least 100 hours into that game.)

-Populous DS (SSDD, sunk too much time into that really challenging but fun game.)

-Scribblenauts (Another great game. Haven't played it in ages.)

-A few other DS games i never play anymore.

As a side note, i have beaten all of the games mentioned here to near 100% completion except for Oblivion as i started a new save a few weeks ago. I got my PS3 slim back in 2014, though i did not figure out how to make a PSN account until 2015. Most played game is Battlefield 4 with almost 800 hours, followed closely by Far Cry 3 and Skyirm. What is your console/PC and game collection?

Fullderp: Beached Edition

What's this all about?

Fullderp is a game where one of us declares himself the champ and takes a ragtag team of six Pokemon assembled by anons into an online competitive Pokemon battling simulator.

To quote one of Showdown's mods…

>@MacChaeger: None of these people are youtubers

>@MacChaeger: They impersonate verlis to to gain notoriety and attract new members

>@MacChaeger: These people regularly trick others into getting locked

>@MacChaeger: But this is the single most toxic group of players on PS

Can I give the champ something?

Of course. If we've got a champ, feel free to come in and watch and give him something when he calls for a new team. No experience necessary, and everything's done in-browser.

How does it work?

When the current champ calls "new champ", the first poster to claim it is our champ. The first six legal Pokemon suggested once champ has been claimed or "new team" has been called will be the team our champ uses to battle.

Suggesters are not to make multiple suggestions for a team unless 15 minutes have passed since their last request, or unless the champ specifically asks for resuggests.

The champ will be battling in Smogon OU unless he specifies otherwise.

The Rules:

Failure to follow the rules will result in IMPEACHMENT and/or BULLYING.

1. The champ cannot forfeit or intentionally throw a match.

2. The champ may not edit a set without the suggester's permission.

3. All Pokemon must be nicknamed.

4. The champ is not allowed to timer stall.

5. If someone resuggests before 15 minutes have passed since their last suggest, the champ must ignore it.

6. The champ should replace resuggests with fresh suggests that come in later.

7. If champ gives himself Smogon sets, he's a faggot.

Why do people give this game a bad rap?

Over all it is an extremely well rounded game.

It's got all of the Batman family roster.

Solid roster of Villains

Excellent Level Design and Atmosphere.

Detective work.

Bat-Tank fighting.

And a very fleshed out combat system.

>You can spam counter to win all fights.

Not true and has never been since the first game.

The game punishes you for doing that by denying you the combo flow and throws enemy attacks you cannot counter.

To say that is the depth of Arkham Knight's combat's is disingenuous.

The one flaw that can't be argued about this game is the way optimization was handled on the PC.

Stuffing Nvidia AND Denuvo into it and having the worst AAA launch in PC gaming. Wew

This is a valid point and it should be noted that Denuvo is still in it today.

However the performance issues have mainly been patched and the game runs fine today.

I feel like this game is given an unfair judgement by most people here.

People will say the games bad because it handled X boss fight badly, or the Stealth is too simple, compared to (insert stealth game).

I feel like even though this game tries to do a lot of things at once, it still executes the gameplay mechanics in a way that stays fun and challenging as you being to master them.

What do you think about this game?

Tencent WeGame: the biggest Monkey's Paw drawback of all time

>As reported by the South China Morning Post, an international version of the store and social platform will launch in Hong Kong. This instalment is designed to reach players outside of China, and to promote Chinese games overseas.

>Despite WeGame's somewhat modest profile, Tencent owns League of Legends studio Riot Games and mobile game company Supercell—and has holdings in Epic, Activision Blizzard, Robot Entertainment and more. Its total revenue for the 2016 fiscal year was $22 billion.

>Publishers in China are required to submit games for review to authorities so these can be sold in the domestic market. This process typically takes months to complete, and games with the slightest violent or sexual content are likely to get rejected.

You either start learning chinese if you want to survive, or go down in flames taking as many fucking chinks as you can. In any way, this is really grim future we're facing right here

ToonTown Corporate Clash: Seemingly Playable Edition

ToonTown Corporate Clash is a brand new ToonTown private server that just opened to the public 13 days ago. It has done major reworks around the entire game, including new tracks and gags for each track, areas and endgame. Cogs now go up to level 18. Progression has changed completely. You won't have to wait until you are 60 laff before you get to do something other than buildings. There's new bosses and cog related content that you'll bump into before making it out of TTC(Derrick Man).

>Official Website

>Release notes(must read for vanilla TT players)

>Wiki(at least read about the gags)

>is the game playable?

Depends on when you want to play. Around 3AM~9AM US time you can play for hours without crashing. During the day it's really hard to go more than half an hour without having the game close on you(more if you know the mechanics of crashing).

The last maintenance made the game way better. While still not perfect, you can even play through most of burger time.

On an additional note, they've also been getting DDoSed from the very first day by a retarded underaged kid whose goal in life is to ruin the project. Sometimes their servers can get really unstable.

>are we playing together?

Yes, we have a club currently sitting at 19 members. There are other anons playing, but they still haven't joined the club that is fairly recentdue to a bug where you would crash once you accepted the invite, that has now been fixed. If you want an invite, just say so in the thread, you might be able to arrange a meeting with me or someone else within a few minutes. Our club is named "Lawful Gamers".

Clubs have instant club chat, simply add "/c " before your message.

Opening your book you'll see that clubs also have their own message board.

Mices have a bug where no one will invite you to our club.

>what gags do I start with?

While having lure, toon up and other non-damaging gags is a viable start, I recommend picking 2 damage gags to make the start a little bit faster.

Drop, throw, squirt, sound and zap, basically.

If you want to pick zap, you HAVE to pick squirt too. Seriously.

If you want a really cheese start, go either zap and squirt or throw/squirt and dropprestige drop asap in this case.

>which district do I join?

It's not that important, but we've been trying to stay in Whistle Woods. With the club we can now teleport to each other no matter the district anyway, but I've kept the tradition of finding people on Whistle Woods.

Vidya weapons: Flamethrowers

Flamethrowers, often useless at long range, but excellent against swarming melee enemies and above all the most fun weapon in video games because of the burning scenery it can provide.

I don't know of many long-ranged flamethrowers which shoot like gigantic fireball infinitely or even ones which leave lava behind for defensive measures.

Still, the flamethrower has especially been the most fun weapon in video games because the flames highly interact with the environment especially in forests. When you want to turn everything black and leave a nice spectacle of flames behind you then you use the flamethrower.

The only acceptable flamethrower is the one which leaves the flames on the ground and walls, otherwise in my book it's not a real flamethrower.

You won't see the acid, lazer, rocket projectiles offer the same spectacle as a good flaming scenery.

2. Vola room owner edit- Upload 5 files and then zip the rest if the dump is larger then 6-7 files. Music Albums exceeding 5 files are to be zipped. When uploading .torrent, either add them to the a zip of the game or just don’t upload those misc files.Properly label files so that they can be identified without asking someone else. For lewd stuff with filenames like RJ74765 either add a .txt linking to the contents on a website or just add the title to the .txt e.g "BIG BOOTY WOMEN SIT ON SHOTA FACE (RJ34734)".

3. You can filter files by file type (.txt, .rar, etc) or search the file list with the bar hidden by the filter files button.

a. When in doubt, archive as a single [or split if too large],then upload.

Chart for ethical vidya consumption in current year

Hey fags, I'm getting tired of seeing people constantly ask questions about what devs, storefronts, publishers or whatever are worth supporting or if anything's worth buying in current year or the countless kinds of similar questions, so I'm going to create a chart for easy use and people to be able to link or share it anywhere so that people can finally learn about other companies to give money to besides the giants who are trying to monopolize and ruin the industry.

I'm debating on whether to make it formatted like a tier-list (god-tier, good enough to support-tier, okay/gray-area; support at discretion; be careful and vocal if you support these companies, and just flat out "Do not buy from" tier), or just to make a gigantic chart filled with every possibly worthwhile company.

The general format will be

-Company logo (and possibly website link)

-What they are (storefront, publisher, localizer, developer)

-1-2 sentence blurb underneath about why they're worth supporting, or 1-2 bullet points.

For the gray area ones I'll probably include their cons as well.

-(Storefront, Localizer, Publisher)

-Staunchly anti-censorship

-DRM-free games and VNs

And so on.

This will mainly be the thread for feedback, ideas, and spitballing some companies and shit.

Designfags also welcome, I was thinking of making it pretty simple. White background, black text but any ideas are welcome there. If it looks good even better.

Here's a preliminary list of companies I'm going to include somewhere on the chart.

>THQ Nordic

>Nihon Falcom

>Platinum Games

>Compile Heart

>Idea Factory/Idea Factory International

>Devolver Digital

>B.B. Studio

>Spike Chunsoft

>Access Games

>CyberConnect 2

>Koei Tecmo

>Level 5

>Monolith Soft

>Piranha Bytes

>TaleWorlds entertainment

>Deep Silver

>Notable indies like Team Cherry and Studio MDHR

And so on. Provide alternatives, suggestions or ideas and I'll throw 'em in or not. Feel free to provide information I'm not aware about about these companies. I feel like I'm pretty informed but everyone misses something from time to time.

Game with Similar Art Style To Darkest Dungeon

Alright, I've checked other places and I can't remember the name still. There was a game with an art style pretty much like Darkest Dungeon's, but it was an isometric turn-based game on a hex battlefield. The whole story theme was that the wilderness had become extra cursed and dangerous, and it had started to take out entire villages. You basically send in Bloodborne hunters to deal with the beasts. Does anyone remember or know what I am talking about?

30 dollarydoos for a game who just plays itself.

I have nothing against so-called "idle games" as they aren't games to me. Yet something like that irks me to the highest point. Most, if not all idle games are free one way or another, yet this one chooses deliberately to push a high price because "we worked hard on this one". And the worst thing is, it might actually work because lots of people "played" the first one for weeks, if not months.

Expect more shit like this in the incoming months. Pic partially related since it's what brought us all to this.

Dwarf Fortress Succession Game

How many here play Dwarf Fortress? How many would be interested in playing in an 8chan succession fort?

For those not familiar with the term, it means that each player takes turns playing one year as the overseer before passing the save to the next player. Anyone may also ask for a dwarf to be named after their request, but first and foremost we need enough players to get the fort going.

The Meta

What's the meta right now and what would completely crash and dominate the market, setting new trends and standards for the next decade to come? Let's analyze what's been done, what everyone is asking for and what everyone doesn't know they wanted but will instantly love it.

MMOs - mmos are always level-based, economy-based, completionist-based which turns into grinding/farming. And most mmos have a world to set it apart from multiplayer games.

My answer is to remove the levels and economy, simply have everything available from the start, even the locations. Furthermore enemies should always die from 1-5 hits instead of 10-300, unless it's a boss. This should drastically set aside how today's MMOs work.

Erotic video games - it's nothing but animated loops with different speeds and a loading bar for when you or her climax.

Actually making it an interactive game with the NPC would greatly break the meta and cause everyone to call you a hero and a spirit of originality. Things such as custom cock size, sensitivity, sanity, the NPC having an AI during the sex would greatly improve the erotic video game genre.

Brawlers/Fighting video games - Most of them are based off Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat which have terrible controls in terms of jumping, damage hitboxes, recovering, cornering.

Instead 3D fighting games like Naruto Shippuden and DBZ seem to have it good. Same for the really old Game Boy Advance DBZ game. They seem to balance fast melee pvp without making one player dominate the other, thus we get some really balanced fights.

It's too bad most 2D fighting games and brawlers couldn't learn more from Hack n Slash type gameplay. Simply being able to activate your supers, ultras, combos under certain conditions without memorizing and inputting dozens of keypads would instantly help fighting games's popularity.

Can't help but look back at the past a little.

NES - the controls

If a popular NES series of games had good controls then that series would have dominated the market. Controls on the level of the SNES, Genesis, GBA. This could have easily been done by allowing: attacks without animation FOR THE PLAYER, invincibility frames, more accurate jumps or grabbing, no death pits, blocking, no floaty controls, no stiff controls.

Freedom Planet/Gunstar Heroes/Ristar/Rayman > Sonic.

HR Giger Aliens video games - Aliens and Predator games always end up being extremely generic and unfinished games. Outside of the arcade video games which are still generic, but have an immense amount of quality added to them.

There's 2 ways to go about this. Either make an interesting video game, meaning a non conventional/original video game about base defense/resource management, exploration, open world, simulation, something with depth like GTA and Far Cry. Or just make a generic action shootah or horror game but make it really good like 2D Contra, Gunstar Heroes, Vietcong, Medal of Honor 1, Alan Wake, Silent Hill.

Shadow of War loses microtransactions

And the cow has been thoroughly milked.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today released a free game improvement update for Middle-earth: Shadow of War, featuring a host of new enhancements and content to provide existing players and newcomers with the best gameplay experience. This robust update brings together a multitude of different elements, including a richer campaign experience, streamlined post-game Epilogue, new player skins and Legendary gear and the removal of the market, in addition to hundreds of other improvements. Below is a short list of the latest changes. To check out the full rundown of content updates, visit: community.wbgames.com/SOWSupport

• Removal of the Market: The market and microtransactions have been completely removed from Shadow of War. Orcs recruited through Online Vendettas and Ranked Conquests will now be stored in the Garrison, and in-game Mirian can now be used to train, upgrade and customize your personal Orc army.

• Changes to the Shadow Wars: Renamed the Epilogue, the post-campaign has been vastly streamlined to include new narration from Shelob, the Witch-king and Dark Talion. Victory in the Epilogue rewards players with the Masks of the Nazgûl, unlocks powerful new abilities to raise the dead, curse enemies and summons more powerful monsters. And players also have the option to continue upgrading and defending their fortresses and army in Mordor after the final credits conclude.

• More Ways to Customize & Build Your Character: The follower level cap has now been increased to 80 and the enemy Captain level cap has been increased to 85. Plus, players can level up faster with greater XP rewards for Nemesis Missions, defeating Captains and Online Conquests. New Prestige Skills are available and offer incremental upgrades to skills. Players can also spend Mirian to upgrade gear to current levels by completing the upgrade challenge, and these gear upgrades now allow players to re-roll abilities for the perfect combo.

• Nemesis Improvements: There are more Legendary Orcs to encounter, more ways to get Training Orders (incl. Legendary Training Orders) and followers can now surprise players with the occasional gift. And if any followers are too keen to help out and have been stealing kills, there is now the option to turn off the Savior feature in the menu.

• New Player Skins: Players can now take the fight to Sauron as Celebrimbor, reliving the first War for Mordor, or battle as Dark Eltariel and Baranor.

Translation Statuses are:

HDN, HDN Mk2 and Victory: NISA cancer.

Re;Birth 1 and V-II: Translation is alright, no worries from these ones.

Re;Birth 2: Not obviously bad at the start, but gets much worse as it goes along: in particular Neptune and Ram were screwed hard during localization. However, there is a Re;Translation made on our very own board (see above links).

Re;Birth 3: Better than the original NISA translation in Victory but still quite a lot of cancer. Main game has been retranslated, translators still required to translate DLC content.

All of the spin-offs: Varying translation quality. These range from cancer to mediocre. Recent releases have been somewhat better overall.

What build you rolling?

What do you want in Nioh 2?

I'm doing a Raikiri based spirit build that uses buffs and debuffs. Pretty fun.

Enemy variety and better level design is the big things the sequel needs. It's confirmed to feature character creation so I hope it lets you make a loli. Tome's height and frame doesn't really break anything if you transform into her in the first game.

I recently bought a nip model of PS2 fat (SCPH-35000, NTSC-J) through ebay, but I'm having issues to read games that use Disc Compact discs (all PS1 games and some early PS2 titles like Phantom Brave & Kingdom, EDF1, Growlanser 2 & 3, La Pucelle, etc) while the DVD-rom discs run all fine. The console has difficulties to recognize the Disc Compact on startup, and it takes a couple of retries to have the console recognize those.

I was wondering what part I should replace, and if it's possible to swap the part from a PAL model or something, or if I have to rely on importing the detached parts.

Tag Force Special (2015) is the best to play for learning the game with many of the new cards.

The World Championship series (2004-2011) and Duel Academy (2006) are pretty good too. Definitely check out Dungeon Dice Monsters.

All are fun for pet/archetype non-meta decking. Legacy of the Duelist is shit.

Trend of Less Faggy Kid Main Characters

A bit late to the party on this but I've noticed a recent trend of more manly underage boys in vidya. I'm wondering if there will be any games in the near future like this or if the idea is already worn and while having young boys going on a journey to become a man isn't anything new but it's nice that Japan decided to make a few decent kiddos in light of their recent gayness. Although I wonder if people would prefer if they went all the way and just decided to feature more games of grown men acting like grown men instead of kids. Personally I'm fine with this as long as we get more characters like 9S and Lapichet and I'm wondering if there are some more recent games that also followed this trend.

Why couldn't there be a modern Robocop game that exists outside of the movies? If you look at the franchise, all the games are based on the movies and most of them are made by LJN and are terrible. I think there was maybe a good arcade game and the Gameboy version of the first game was passable. Everything else has been absolute shit.

There are comic books and other media that some dev could work with to put out an actually decent Robocop vidya. Or fuck, maybe even an original story. It wouldn't take much.

If someone made some kind of sandbox cop simulator where you play as Murphy, I'd probably buy that for a dollar.

Fallout 76 Features A New Perk Card System

It looks like Bethesda will be doing some things differently with Fallout 76, whilst adding new things like Perk Cards. Additionally, the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system is reported to be revised for a multiplayer environment, too.

Website VGR wrote up a report regarding Fallout 76 — Bethesda Game Studio’s upcoming online Fallout title — leveling, perks, and S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system. If you want to know more about this game, hopefully, you’ll find it here.

Firstly, fans of the Fallout series will find that Fallout 76 will keep the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system, which means Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility, and Luck will stick around.

Moreover, the site reads that the game has it where you’ll earn EXP and levels by doing things you would usually do. After a level, you will earn a perk point. However, the way that you spend perk points in Fallout 76 is different from that of Fallout 4.

You will be able to spend each perk in one of the seven S.P.E.C.I.A.L. categories. Instead of choosing a perk from a chart, the game will display three Perk Cards. Each card, with a max rank of three, offers a different perk, but you can only pick from one card, though.

Furthermore, instead of having permanent access to all perks that you’ve invested in, you will have a limited number of card slots. You can assign any Perk Card you’ve upgraded in one of these slots if you want to benefit from it.

It’s worth noting that you can’t use all of your Perk Cards at the same time, but you can rotate them whenever.

It’s unclear how this system will work in action with multiple people scavaging around West Virginia, but I’m sure the beta will give potential players and leery folks an idea.

Devil May Cry Thread

With Gamescom is right around the corner, I want to talk about Devil May Cry 5 and what we should expect from.the series. Honestly I'm hoping they make Nero a bit more fun to play in this game, he was alright in DMC4 but I felt that he could've done more with the Devil Arm instead of just throwing things. Now that we see his mechanical arm can do that and other things, I kinda wanna see how they'll approach Nero's base combat. Perhaps they'll make it more like Bayonetta where you can mix between buttons and use them for different moves. Additionally I hope they completely revamp the movement to make it something more akin to Bayonetta or even Prototype.

So what would you like to see from DMC5 /v/?

Japanese Learning Thread: いいケツ Edition

So, you wanna learn the Nipponese, huh? Well, you've come to the right thread. You know the drill; All of the relevant resources are available below. It's not an official list or anything, just an OP I threw together from items taken from previous threads. If you have any suggestions on how this list can be improved, then please don't hesitate to say something.

>I'm completely new, where do I start?

Learn the Kana. Start with Hiragana and then move on to Katakana. Yes, you need both, and yes stroke order is important. Use Realkana or Kana Invaders for spaced repetition. Alternatively, you can use the Anki deck, but I'd recommend the first two. Tae Kim has a Kana diagram on his website, and you can use KanjiVG for pretty much any character.

>Alright, I know the Kana. Now what?

You have to learn vocabulary and grammar in order to speak and understand the language. Some will tell you to grind the Core2k/6k deck until you're blue in the face, others will tell you that grammar is more important. Truth is, you need both, but it doesn't really matter which one you decide to do first. You're teaching yourself here, so you move at your own pace and do what you're most receptive to. If you want grammar first, then Tae Kim has a great introductory grammar guide, there are numerous grammar related videos in Anon's all-in-one-Anki-package, IMABI has an active forums and an abundance of information on grammar, and there's always YouTube if you're lazy. On the other hand, if you want to learn vocab first, then grab the Core2k/6k and grind until you're blue in the face. For mnemonics, see Kanji Damage.

>Well this is great and everything, but I still need more help

That's what these threads are for aside from the obligatory shitposting. You shouldn't assume that anyone here knows more than you, but there are anons here who are willing to help. Try to find shit out on your own, for fuck's sake, but if you're stumped, then maybe someone will have something to say that can point you in the right direction.

Vidya sterograms

Not sure if I posted this here before, but I once made some Skyrim stereograms, the type of images that appear to be 3D if you look at them cross-eyed.

These images here are quite large, so you may need to either 1) step back from your monitor or 2) resize your image viewer.

How these work: Each image represents the POV from each respective eye. When you cross your eyes so that the two images converge, you get the same effect of focusing on a physical object with your eyes. While viewing, you can even adjust your focus to objects further in the distance just the same as you would with a physical object. With FPS games (probably any 3d game really, even sidescrollers), these images come out extra clear since the 3D effect mimics real life environments.

How to make your own:

>Find a game that supports freezing time while also allowing you to freemove

>Position yourself in front of an object or scenery that you wish to capture as a sterogram

>The first position will represent your left eye. Take a screencap

>Now move just a tad to the right. This new position will represent your right eye. Don't move too much or this will simulate what it would look like if your eyes were that far apart. When in position, take screencap

>Open both images in an editor, position the first screencap on the left and the second on the right. Save image

Anyone want to take a stab at making your own?

The Real Reason Why Games Are Popular

Think of every single smash hit of the past 2 years or so.

>Super Mario Odyssey/Maker

>Monster Hunter World

>Sonic Mania

>Final Fantasy XV

>Rocket League

>Vermintide 2

>Ni No Kuni

>Breath of the Wild

>Splatoon 2

>Stardew Valley

>Divinity: OS2

>Guild Wars 2

People often try to identify the common factor that makes these games popular, with things like replayability and catering to normalfags being cited. But the true answer is something that transcends difficulty, genre and message. The true answer is something absurdly simple.

Bright colors.

Every single one of the games I just listed has a bright, energetic color scheme, often accompanied by a cartoonish level of detail. The fact of the matter is that people play video games to experience a heightened experience of reality that just isn't possible in the real world. They play video games to escape from their dull, boring, realistic lives and enjoy something more exciting and happy.

Color theory has been a known and documented phenomenon for decades. Detection of certain colors stimulates certain emotion-associated neurons in the brain. Red makes you feel passionate. Bright blue makes you feel energetic. What the fuck do gray and tan make you feel? Bored and apathetic, that's what.

Of course there have been exceptions, going both ways. Including:

NieR: Automata

God of War: Wife's Son Edition

The entire Souls genre

No Man's Sky

Battlefront: II

But statistically speaking, these games are outliers. They succedded/failed not because of their choice in color scheme, but rather in spite of it. The success stories brought unbeatable gameplay, graphical detail and humor to the table, and the failures had to do something jaw-droppingly out of line, such as turn your entire game into one massive virtue signal or have an outright absence of content, or be the greasiest kikes to ever pinch a nickel.

This pattern is nothing new. You could even argue as far back as Minecraft and Skyrim. I bet you that you could take any existing game and boost its sales just by doing nothing more than boosting its brightness and color contrast.

This is why the "gritty realism" meme needs to die. Normalfags will argue that they want "immersion" and "serious emotion" but then games like PUBG, Fallout 4 and Destiny 2 continue to get rolled over by their more lighthearted counterparts. Normalfags don't know what the fuck they want.

TL;DR autists like colors.

Souls Thread

I finally got around to playing the DS2 DLC. Is this a joke? Some people actually consider this content not only the highlight of the game, but the highlight of the whole series? I've gone through Sunken King and over half of Iron King and it's the same shit as the base game with slightly better level design. Same enemy spam with shit AI with no really memorable encounters. Elana just stands there getting shit on and then summons fucking Vendrick of all things, which isn't even hard to just avoid while finishing her off. Sinh is hardly a threat outside his odd charge hitbox. Fume at least put up a fight. Everything else has been pretty forgettable. Is Ivory King going to improve things at all?

Attorney Online

A game needs your help /v/

There's an online version of Ace Attorney around, it's called Attorney Online. Oldfags probably remember it as /v/ used to play it every now and then, we even had a server. Well, today the game is dying slowly, the amount of regular players is around 100 and I really wish the activity could increase because this is my favorite game ever, I've never had as much fun as I have playing this.

>How do I play? Where do I download?

Click downloads obviously!

>How do you do trials there?

We have joke trials such as this:

And serious trials, such as the ones you can find in the website I linked. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivRVHXmi5nM

We can even do the normal cases from AA in AO, remixed or played straight.

So please /v/ help save this game, it's the only good ace attorney online around there and it doesn't deserve to die yet

>/v/ server

/v/ NOW HAS A SERVER GOING. The name is "Attorney Online Vidya (Dedicated)". Come join us!

How the fuck did a game about a haunted children's pizza joint turn into shit about soul extraction and some grand conspiracy about a serial killer's family?

And where the fuck did Scott's creativity go when designing the gameplay of the sequels? It was all just the same shit but with a gimmick slapped onto it.

Also I unironically somewhat like UCN. If you actually try to challenge yourself, shit gets stressful and good muscle memory is required to beat some of the more intense animatronic combinations..

Latest Denuvo iteration has fallen

So while everyone is bitching about fake news and manufacturing outrage I guess we missed something that actually matters.

What may or may not shock you is this part though:

>“The game executable is 128MB big, of which just 5-6MB is the real game code. The rest of it is Denuvo. It’s the most bloated Denuvo I’ve ever seen.”

For those wondering, here's a list of games that use Denuvo, it's depressingly large:

It basically covers almost every single large company in the business and even some smaller ones. We need to get people to actually care and vote with their wallets. I don't wanna hear any defeatist shit either, crazier things have worked before.

>Literally thousands of volunteer hours of user created content which could easily be put into the game isn't because Epic isn't willing to have just 1 guy approve the user made content on his off days

This is seriously the most kike thing I have ever seen. Imagine working for two hundred hours making a map or whatever and when you go to get it approved by Epic to be put into the game you just get silence. There are still dozens of volunteers waiting for Epic to approve their user made content but they aren't even willing to do that. That was after working with these guys for years and promising they would treat their fans right. If at the very least they just admitted they are dropping support and making it open source then the game could have still been fucking updated.

Official Spore Forums shutting down

>To better support the dedicated community of SPORE users we will be moving the Sporum from forum.spore.com to EA’s Answers HQ. All users are encouraged to join the new forum at https://answers.ea.com/t5/Spore/ct-p/spore-en.

>The forum is being moved for a number of reasons. Chief among the considerations was the safety and security of the SPORE community that actively uses the resource, the increasing age of the Sporum software and infrastructure, and the reality that the service itself isn’t reflective of what users expect a modern service to be. Moving to Answers HQ also ensures that the SPORE community can continue and have additional help and moderation from the EA Support teams.

>SPORE, the game and service, will go on. SPORE.com, Sporepedia and SPORE itself will continue but the Sporum service will be moving to a new home at Answers HQ. Unfortunately, the current content from the Sporum will not be migrated unless users choose to migrate specific posts, threads, and other content themselves.

>There will be more community support thanks to the EA Support team who monitor the site and will be on hand to help keep things in line. Most of the SporeMasters will be migrating and will be identifiable as Answers HQ Heroes.

>On Wednesday, 15th August we will switch the Sporum to be read-only (meaning the content will still be present, but you will not be able to log in or post any new messages) and Answers HQ will be the location for ongoing discussion and feedback.

>The existing Sporum will be left read-only for an extended period of time to allow time for archiving and moving of your content. Following that read-only period, the Sporum will be retired. Advance notice of the full closure will be posted to the Sporum as well as to the Answers HQ forum.

So does this mean they might finally be shutting down the Spore servers? It's kind of long overdue considering how EA treats their other games. something tells me the community will still carry on as autistically as normal even if that happens

White supremacists use Fortnite and Minecraft as recruiting tools

Will someone think of the children? Fortnite turning kids into Nazis!

Fortnite, Minecraft, and Call of Duty are games hate groups use to recruit young members, according to a former white supremacist.

If you’ve been playing online games and noticed high volumes of hate speech and racist views, it’s not just in your head. According to Christian Picciolini, a former white supremacist leader, recruiters have descended on popular multiplayer games in an attempt to find new supporters.

Picciolini recently hosted an AMA on Reddit (via Gamasutra and Resetera talking about his experiences with groups like the Hammerskin Nation. He noted that in recent years, multiplayer gaming has become a prime recruitment pool alongside mental health forums.

“We sought marginalized youth and promised them ‘paradise’,” Picciolini wrote when asked about recruitment methods. “Today they are using nefarious tactics like going to depression and mental health forums and in multiplayer gaming to recruit those same people … They drop benign hints and then ramp up when hooked.”

He even named specific games targeted by these groups. “[Fortnite], Minecraft, COD, all of them,” he continued, adding those promoting these views are “mostly foreign recruiters from Russia and eastern Europe and Poland.”

Picciolini was a member of white supremacy groups for eight years before he found himself unable to reconcile their teachings with the compassion he saw in targeted groups. He now runs the Free Radicals project which offers education on radicalism and tools for disengaging from these groups.

As such, pointing out common recruitment methods is a good starting point to counter them, especially for games like Fortnite that attract so many players. He also remains optimistic that people caught up in hate groups can change for the better.

“I think first we need to understand that while they are doing monstrous things, they are broken human beings and not monsters,” Picciolini adds. “Start with that and figure out what human voids needs to be addressed.”

Weekend Gamenight: Space Station 13

Weekend Gamenight: Space Station 13

Starting an hour from now long story

SS13 is an atmospheric simulator turned space station turned video game dating back to the early 2000s, duct-taped togethercoded in Build Your Own Net Dream, or BYOND, a DIY game engine dating to the late nineties and filled with shitty anime games. It's 2d, with entirely sprite-based graphics, but has an incredible depth not matched by anything else; Once you get a handle on the game's aging interface and start to figure out how everything fits together, the sky's the limit. Glass shard disposal cannons, station-melting plasma floods, instant death serums and pills that make people explode. Arms trading and black marketeering, kidnapping people into your forced sex-change dungeon. Mecha-fighting tournaments, holding the station hostage with a black hole generator. Or perhaps the simpler pleasures of growing space-weed and stealing the clown's shoes

Every once in a while, I like to look at the Steam hardware survey they they aggregate for developers, and use it to "determine the health of the industry for PC games". Mostly I just look at what's popular, what's not.

>Windows still has a supermajority of users on Steam, over 95% of users

>The most used OS is therefore Windows 10 (top laughs) followed by Windows 7

>The most popular graphics card is made by NVidia, but we all know that AMD still makes better shit

>Based on the above two points (and that the majority of Steam users are from fucking China), it's probably just premade shit skewing the numbers

>Looking at the market share between NVidia/AMD, it looks like the stock prices reflect it, with AMD being slightly overvalued based on its historical trend, while NVidia is also slightly overvalued, yet more in-line for longterm investments

While this comes from Steam, I feel it's still a good representation of the market, since any old normalfag will use it, and provide useful data for everyone.

Do you ever miss places in online games you no longer play?

I havent' played World of Warcraft in maybe 7 years and when i did i was mostly alliance for the dwaves and space goats. Even still one thing i always remembered fondly was when BC launched and the land above the Plaguelands finally opened and it was this sleepy golden woodlands that slowly turned into this gloomy, undead ridden forest.

Maybe its because Autumn is always my premier A E S T H E T I C in games or the music was just so good but years on when i think of a fantasy land i want to explore the first thing that springs to mind is Eversong Woods and the Ghostlands.

If you played online vidya in the early 2000's you are already thinking of that place for you. Whats its name?

>Marx apparently grew so powerful that killing him and destroying his soul didn't keep him down but now he's basically Kirby 2.0 because he ironically doesn't give a shit as long as he gets food. according to japanese devs he's still an asshole but keeping him fed keeps him in check

>If Kirby is a functional black hole, Marx can literally split himself in two to summon a black hole from inside of himself, which is why he really only cares about food now

>The Nova Comet that gave Marx his powers is apparently one of many, and the things that made them are likely still out there.

>Given that Marx isn't dead and there's worse shit out there then him it's likely none of the enemies Kirby has gone against have died entirely and will eventually revive

>Just like every enemy that Kirby "kills" that comes back when you switch areas or go offscreen and come back

>No one in dreamland is concerned about their life, just their shit and their land, because none of them can die

>Most final bosses have never really threatened anyone personally, but most of their plans involved changing the land or quality of life in some manner, taking possessions and food, or other such things

>Dedede is a bro after his first outing as a villain because food isn't nessesary to living, it just tastes good and no one was actually in danger of dying to starvation

>some of the denizens don't even have mouths

>Dedede employs Waddle Dees because they have no concept of what eating really is and thus like him and help him get all the food, they literally just don't understand

Anon's bizarre vidya adventure AKA /v/ makes an RPG maker game. (Dev Note Edition): #004

We’re creating a video game in RPG Maker VX Ace together with other anons.

Here’s how it works.

Everyone is taking turns downloading the newest version of the game, making contributions before reuploading it for someone else to work on it. Only one person can actively work on it at a time. This is because if two people make overlapping changes to the database, scripts or switches, they will conflict resulting in one person having to redo all their work. Changes to the map and events can be copy-pasted from one version of a project to another so you’re free to work on new maps and new events if its not your turn and add them to the current version of the game once it is your turn.

It should work like this. OP posts newest version of the map. The first person (Anon #1) to respond to OP stating that he’s going to work on it becomes the active game dev. Once Anon #1 finishes and re-uploads it, the first person to respond to him gets to work on it. So on and so forth. Additionally, whenever you re-upload a new version, reply to the anchor post, it’ll make things a lot easier.

General Rules

>Don’t mess with maps, events or anything else you didn’t make. Although, adding minor stuff like a connection between two areas or fixing bugs and typos is all fine.

>If you’re ok with others editing your stuff, leave a note saying so.

>You’re free to add characters and the like, to the inter-dimensional tavern.

>You’re also free to make changes to game settings, unless its something we’ve agreed upon (we’ll probably do this via a poll)

How do I RPG Maker VX Ace?

>Here’s a good tutorial series if you want to learn how to use it. inb4 jewtube

What about RPG Maker MV?

>We decided in the last thread that we’re using VX Ace. We’re not changing this again. Get it out of your head right now. If you made content in MV you’ll have to back port it to VX Ace. It sucks, but we’re not doing any more engine changes.

Why don't you fucks use version control?

>Like RPG Maker MV, we tried that and the project died. Nobody wanted to learn git. It can't be helped. Plus someone needs a (((premium))) account if we want the project to be private.

Add X to the Game!

>Suggestions are fine, but if you want something added to the game. DO IT YOURSELF. Its not that hard.

What should I add?

>Go nuts, add whatever the hell you like! (However, please keep in mind that if the filesize of this project gets too large it’ll become unruly to work with. So please be somewhat conservative when adding large music or .ogv files.)

Is OP a faggot?

System Shock games

Mark you fucking fat nigger, there was nothing wrong with this thread, why was it deleted

What is everyone's opinion on the System Shock games? I ask since I finally beat them back to back as I wanted to finish and have a fully formed opinion on two of the "greatest games of all time".

Well, I can honestly say SS1 > SS2. No question, SS2 is a vastly inferior game compared to 1, from it premise, to its mechanics, to it laying the foundation for the Bioshit games, and so forth. Just my observations comparing the two:

<SS1 starts you out as a "weakling hacker" who already knows how to fire a gun and jump from large heights

>SS2 starts you off as a "soldier" who, regardless of what branch of military you train in, is a complete dumbass who can't use a gun and has weak endurance, because muh RPG stats

<SS1 gives little direction in where you need to go outside of journals, notes, and audio logs that it expects you to read on your own

>SS2 constantly has NOT SHODAN barking in your ear on what exactly to do next, then rewards you with cyber modules for your doing what you're told like a dog

<SS1 levels felt like smartly designed places, like there is logic to where things are placed and where rooms go

>SS2 levels are mishmashes of corridors that often blend together. Body of the Many is also fucking bad start to finish

<SS1 had a nice mix of cyborgs, robots and occasional monsters that you could actually KILL on nearly every floor, besides the invisible monsters on the elevator deck

>SS2 has fucking re-spawning monsters, mainly for you to farm nanites from. Too bad it's always fucking zombies that are tedious to fight

>ALSO FUCKING SPACE MONKEYS fuck this wasn't funny or clever in the medical floor, and it was fucking aggravating seeing them on other floors

>SS2's finally poor recreation of SS1 Citadel station and final boss fight reek of Levine's pretentious bullshit that would give way to Bioshit Infinite.

>SS1 had midi music that didn't quite scare you but it was at least disarming in how upbeat it was compared to the horrors around you. SS2 just has generic techno music that tries to be intense but fails

In short, fuck System Shock 2. Ken Levine was always a hack even before he shat out Bioshit.

Is the developers giving you the ability to quicksave/load as much as you want and determine the punishment of death yourself a cop-out on their part?

If the developers determine the level of challenge of their game through enemy and level design, why, in order to provide a consistent degree of challenge, should they not also determine the degree of punishment of dying for the player by themselves? Players can often pick the most suitable degree of challenge for themselves by picking an appropriate difficulty setting, but in most games the freedom with which you can savescum is the same across all difficulties.

So you still get people savescumming every five seconds on the hardest difficulty, which kind of contradicts the point of playing on the hardest difficulty (playing for a challenge), or people redoing sections over and over to nail them perfectly. But at this point you're asking players to just restrict themselves and to not push the game too hard in order to not break the game. The aspect of challenge becomes vague when the game makes no distinction between completing a level without using saves and someone who savescums like a grandmother.

Sure, savescumming is accepted because it's a solution that pleases the most people, because it leaves the punishment of death, and thus a larger part of the difficulty, entirely up to the player. But then what's the point of difficulty settings if you're able to savescum indefinitely?

Ace Combat

Finally done with the holy trinity but I'm curious about one thing.

Was ace combat 4 supposed to be more difficult? I played 4 and 5 on normal and when I felt I knew the ropes I did Zero on hard but for some reason none of the other games had me sweating bullets like Yellow 13's fight, it was undeniably the most difficult mission for me and the most personal for some reason.

Now that I'm done with these should I move on to the god tier list? (speaking of which I don't have the charts, could one of you please supply)

Th Evil Within Discussion Thread

Finished TEW1 when it came out. It wasn't the easiest game but I liked the challenge of the clunky melee and slow, tankish movement. I wish the game's story had been a little more fleshed out in the first game but I still enjoyed it One of those games that makes you feel satasfied that you made it to the end.

Half way through my second playthrough of TEW2. It's been quite some time since I have done a replay immediately after finishing a game. The story is a little more fleshed out, visuals are great, and the combat is fun.moreso with a higher difficulty setting The first person mode can be kind of clunky at times but it does change things up for some extra tension or more accurate fire.

Plus it's fun when a game installs with multiple spoken and text languages to choose from. Surprised to see out-of-cutscene characters lip sync pretty well for any of the chosen spoken languages.

Have to say I haven't enjoyed a "horror" game of any genre this much in years. Makes me want to go back and actually finish all those Resident Evil games I never played.

Genuinely surprised at how good the sequel turned out. Not as hardcore as the first but still engaging and fun to play.

What's your experience with The Evil Within? Think there is a future for the franchise? Was the sequel a let down? Was the first game too clunky ?

>accidentally up-backwards all the time, Ibuki jumping like a retard

>joystick is so soft it returns to neutral position too slowly for me

>square gate

>feels as if it was going to break any time

Soon I discovered I was supposed to move it with the tip of my fingers and not with my wrists, like the other arcade, but by then it was too late. Turns out all Japanese arcade sticks are like that, which means most modern fightsticks are like that, and the other arcade cabinet had American style levers, which are generally much stiffer, have circular gates, and made to withstand pretty much pulling the whole cabinet from them in contrast to Japanese arcade sticks, which everyone mentions how easy it is to break them if you don't treat them like a princess' clitoris.

>be browsing for affordable begginer fightsticks

Is there any hope for subhuman brutes like me?

Also, arcade stick general, I guess.

Fortnite is shit

I hate the fucking build mechanic, its so garbage that a shooter relies more on your ability to craft instant cover and outbuild your opponent like your two engineering major autists trying to win the best autist prize or something

All the other mechanics are decent but even the FFA / deathmatch nature of the game itself means that at least 50% of it is luck, get fucked by the RNG? Dead. Turn a corner to shoot a a guy and out of nowhere a guy on each of your flanks pops up, who knows whos gonna win out of you 4 but its not gonna be you

Its honestly a meme game that is build to appeal to normalfags

>matches last 30 mins tops even if you go all the way to the end and manage to win

>easily accessible on console

>free so kids can get it

>everyone and their dog is playing it and its been hyped up by celebrities

>dude lets get drunk and/or high and play FORTNITE BRO

Its a game by casuals, for casuals

Xaviant (The Culling devs) potentially being culled themselves

From the Cold Culling Dept.

I hope you fags are ready for some more schadenfreude, because a another studio is failing due to an extreme miscalculation involving Battle Royale shit.

A little over two days ago, Xaviant released a sequel to their hit game "The Culling" on steam, and we may have player numbers worse than LawBreakers or StillBorn here. It's predecessor even has a higher player count despite giving their player base many middle fingers in the past.

All evidence points to the developers going all in towards the development of this game, and made a critical error along the way. From what I gathered, Culling 2 more follows the stereotypes of what the Battle Royale (BR) genre has developed into now; abandoning the intimate melee focused combat for the addition of small arms. In a great moment of cruel irony, the developers abandoned a successful formula that helped popularize the genre before it really gained it's name.

Their risk has paid off in spades.

Steam Charts

The Culling 2 https://archive.is/o2rzu | vs. its predecessor: https://archive.is/nZMyN

The abandoning of the prior formula explains only a small portion of the failure. The critical failure point lies with how the developers handled the first game in the series. Xaviant released patches for the game that tanked the game's popularity by screwing the balance, fucking with established mechanics, and ignoring or blindly following player feedback.

There's a great deal more that I'm glossing over but one thing sticks out to me. Following an abandonment of the game's development and a leak to the sequel being made drummed up no anticipation for the release of a new game. The developers didn't learn what they did right, twice, and they bet the farm on it.

That counterintuitive friend

Im pretty sure we all have that one friend that was extremely questionable taste in terms of quality where it can be described as backasswords. Like preferring to eat objectionably low quality burger at Mcdonalds than to spend the same amount of money for a better experience at an actual burger joint. To the point where its more objective rather than subjective.

>best friend moves in

>we can finally play vidya together

>he buys the most questionable shit like The Surge, Wolfenstine 2, Absolver, Vampyr, Andromeda, Warframe, Far Cry 5, and enjoys them

>try and introduce him to their much better counterparts like Bloodborne, FEAR 1, Nier Automata, Monster Hunter World, Crysis, Devil May Cry 4, ect.

>doesnt like any one of them even for as far as claiming Devil May Cry 4 is clunky compared to NuGod of War

Love him to death but how common is this?

Guild Wars 1

Game is on sale right now on steam. This is the second time in all of history that digital copies have been on sale.

Unfortunately the complete package is not available. The best deal is to buy the Trilogy and Eye of the North Expansion. DO NOT BUY GOTY EDITION, it is only the first campaign with some bonus starter items.

Despite being called an MMO by many, the devs describe the game as a CORPG (Cooperative Online Role Playing Game). The game plays very much like a quality single player RPG, the combat and class system is a great draw.

The combat system heavily draws from magic the gathering and plays like it too, albeit in real-time and you choose your hand. Unlike an MMO which many draw comparisons to the level cap is low, in fact reaching the level cap of 20 is very much just the tutorial, you will spend the vast majority of the game at level 20 and this is not "end game" as with MMOs. Your character progression will be collecting new skills to choose from and collecting crafting components to augment your gear to your purposes. Your game progression is just playing through the campaigns.

Each Character picks out 2 professions, each profession has thousands of skills to choose from, you must choose 8 and distribute attributeswhich will augment related skills to build your character and of course mess around with gear to get your character working the way you want.

This game is very much designed to be as the devs say a cooperative online rpg. However they did put in many activities for those who have finished so in a sense an end game exists. End game activities include:

Vanquishing: Every map and mission has a hard mode where monsters go above level 20, more monsters and different AI.

Dungeons: Eye of the North Expansion added in 18 Dungeons with Hard Modes included.

Cooperative Missions: Every campaign includes 10 or so story missions which are longer and harder than your typical quest. These are repeatable, include bonus objectives and hard modes.

Story Books: Related to Cooperative Missions is completing story books. These books represent a campaign, when you do a mission with a book on you it is marked as in the book as completed. When you reach a certain level of completion you can hand them in for rewards (exp, gold, reputation).

Challenge Missions: Unrelated to the story, generally related to faction or pve rewards.

Elite Missions: These are seen as the hardest content and the true end game by many. These are specifically: Sorrow's Furnace, Tomb of the Primeval Kings, The Deep, Urgoz's Warren and Ebony Citadel of Mallyx. Unofficially the following are considered by most to be Elite Missions too: Underworld, Fissure of WoE and The Last Heirophant.

Hall of Monuments: Achievement Whoring and the only reason GW2 players play. Also to blame for all the gold farming since GW2 playes want to just buy their way through the game for some GW2 skins.

PvP and GvG can be done from the get go with PvP characters, so I'm not sure if they can count as "end game".

Videogames that replicate real world locations in 1:1 scale

This is a specific fetish but god i love it. Alone in the Dark 2008 for example was a really shitty game but it made a copy of central park and turned it into a nightmare horror scenario and that was great.

Lots of places replicate parts of locations but can't match the scale so cut places or entire sections out like The Division or The Crew but when you find a real world location you can walk around and do something impossible like fight monsters its a specific feeling that makes small penis the big penis.

Do you share this particular game design fetish?

Vidya rage

So I just got so pissed off at the final level of Cave Story that I nearly destroyed my controller by throwing it against the wall. A piece from the hand grip broke away and the vibrating module thingy was hanging out, pissing me off even more to where I just ripped it out and then threw it. I wish I didn't do that because now the controller is heavier on one side.

Gearbox fucked up Aliens because of a fucking typo

Gearbox fucked up Aliens because of a fucking typo

>Aliens: Colonial Marines has an almost mythic status as a bad videogame. One major issue is that the enemies - the same aliens that shredded a badass platoon of marines in the film - aren’t particularly menacing. They kind of wander around and forget you're there. It turns out, the reason they’re so dumb is a single misspelled variable in the game’s files.

>An Australian modder named James Dickinson actually discovered the bug last year, while working on his Aliens: Colonial Marines overhaul. He was scouring through the ACM configuration file, and found a line of code that looks like this

<ClassRemapping=PecanGame.PecanSeqAct_AttachXenoToTether -> PecanGame.PecanSeqAct_AttachPawnToTeather

>See the problem? ‘Tether’ is misspelled, so this string doesn’t actually do anything in the game. It turns out, that’s the instruction that should let enemies know where they’re supposed to be fighting and how.

tl;dr: Some random modder discovered that fixing some random code in the game made the AI much better. Also Randy is a cuck.

What are the de facto BEST games of each genre and subgenre?

I don't want to be extremely vague and say "Action Games" or "Role Playing Games," but I don't want it to be as specific as "Action-Oriented Story-Driven Cyberpunk Space Opera game with First Person Shooter elements" either.

Only contribution I'm confident with posting is Burnout 3 as the best Destruction Derby Racing game. Not to be confused with a Combat Racing game, because that's a tossup between the PS2 Twisted Metal games and Vigilante 8.
