It's fine but suffers from being a poor adaptation that doesn't really do justice to the source material.

Literally the only below-average show on that list is Shikabane Hime. Medaka Box and C3bu suffer from genre shifts that turn some people off but are still otherwise fine. Although C3bu doesn't follow the source at all.

PSG and Pleiades are great, Magica Wars is fine if you appreciate that it's essentially a pixiv art collaboration and is part of a larger project not meant to be viewed as a stand-alone thing.

Hanamaru Kindergarten is great if you like cute shit. No sexualizing allowed.

Gainax only gets a lot of flak these days because they're just another studio now. They're not producing hits one after another like they used to, but they're not terrible either. And even then, Gainax still produced some top-quaity garbage back in the day. Pic related.

other shows i'm interested in are space runway ideon and patlabor, but i've never seen a single episode of any of them. the only reason why i am drawn to them is that they are considered classics.

i am not asking where i should start, but simply the reasons why you like them. sell me on the idea of watching them.

another question is, do any of these shows have an enjoyment curve? some shows are boring until a certain point, and it becomes more enjoyable after that point, so do any of these have that curve? if i watch the first 5 episodes of gundam seed for instance, and i don't like it, is it reasonable to assume that i wouldn't like the rest of it either?

Patlabor is a lighthearted comedy about a police team in a sci-fi future. The robots are almost an afterthought (except in the first movie), and the focus is on character interaction and wacky hijinx. The second movie is a more serious political drama.

Ideon is old-school super robot goodness mixed with cosmic horror. It starts strong with some great episodes that set up the conflict, but the show drags as it goes on. The ending movie is a fucking masterpiece, though, so if you don't mind slogging through the repetition of the show's last third, it's really worth watching for the movie.

The new batch of Cinderella Girls singles comes out today, so I'll be dumping all of the ones released until now starting from Rin, the first CG to ever receive a voice. It was a simpler time, when the 765 anime had just ended, most CGs still hadn't been developed beyond their introductory lines, gaijin were still able to play the mobage without much difficulty, and the only reference to "New Generations" was Rin's SR+ card's subtitle.

It was a better time.

I think it was out of place only because that sort of reaction hadn't been used before and the entire amnesia arc was so bland. They made a clear point of showing that awakened Kyoma is more emotional. He gave out a headpat to the robutt, got worked up over his friend's defiled corpse, and was pretty triggered by the shota's apparent death. I mean really, that assassin was being a total fucking nigger.

Cheapened and stale is what you get when you use colored Bleach panels as dramatic emphasis like the show usually does.

This whole episode felt kinda poorly paced. Just stuff that we either already knew or had been previously implied, but all the characters have to go over it again to get on the same page for the climax. Watching the sorcerer juice people was a nice moment, but everything else was unrewarding. Hell, it also seems that the last episode might end up rushed with how little this episode advanced everything.
