Its got an interesting idea of mixing bullet hell with turn based, there's some serious detail put in with dialogue and odd item functions so its a good guess that the creator gives a shit, and the soundtrack is nicely done.

It's major flaw is that it entirely relies on the player becoming emotionally invested in its characters. So you have a bunch of people frothing at the mouth with love for the characters, and people who were bored with the plot. Almost no middle ground.

For what it's worth, I liked the game.

You don't have to start over. It's possible to spare her without buying anything. It'll just take more turns than if you ever did buy anything, and she'll call you stingy, but will let you go because at least you never hurt any spiders.

What I find great about the interface including what you see above that, is, they actually fuck with you. the dev actually has a pair of balls to do things to the player and confuse them.

It does play out like an old game but it also has new elements that you don't expect would have been done in such a game.

Even if you're bored with the plot it does at least have one playthrough to enjoy. Its biggest accomplishment to me is having juuust enough for even the disinterested to enjoy one playthrough. It's not often a game going "jack of all trades" will result in something so decent. What I think gets people so hype about the story is if it's hitting 3 or 4 areas of their 'vidya core' at once. It's like how aerobics isn't for everyone but people into aerobics become utter fanatics

Also I like that the only hard puzzle in the game was a ginormous troll.

The actual "hardest" fight in the game (against the backer credits) is also a massive troll.

Beating it finally opens the door with those 4 mushrooms (the fact the mushrooms aren't a puzzle was a troll in itself) which results in a SH2 dog ending style developer room, although you can continue on and finish normally afterwards.
