sounds nice lad, is the book any good? I keep wanting to play the game but I've not gotten around to it yet

 No.23805

>>23804

I played the game and loved it, so far I'm 20 pages into the book and it's really good. The vocabulary's very simple, but if you can get past that it's really immersive. I might be biased though because I have a hard on for post apocalyptic stuff.

 No.23806

>>23804

Not him. I didn't play much of it, but I thought the game was pants. Generic post-2007 FPS, not worthy of any of the hype /v/ was giving it at the time.

 No.23811

Not going to lie other than the fact that it's a linear FPS metro doesn't play like COD at all

 No.23812

>>23804

I played the game and it was shit, stopped about an hour or two in.

I'm really perfectionist/autistic about games so you might like it idk

 No.23813

I tend to play game for the story rather than the gameplay (unless it's super shit) so I'll give it a go even if it is just a generic fps as long as the plot's decent.

 No.23814

>>23811

I found it to be pretty much identical at least in terms of the single-player gameplay, but like I said, I think that about most FPS games in "recent" years.

It used to be my one of my favourite genres, games like Half-Life, MoH:AA, Half-Life 2, Far Cry 1, F.E.A.R. 1, Crysis. And then it all went to shit.

>>23813

I don't mind there being a plot, but I like it how it used to be in a lot of older games, just a neat cutscene after every 4 levels of solid gameplay. Not loads of shitty scripted sections that pull you out of the game every 2 minutes, and hours of following an NPC around doing tutorial-tier shit.

 No.23816

the plot's definitely good, but you'll get infinitely more background, context and all round enjoyment from the book, if you really give that little shits about gameplay.

NEET = Not (in) Education, Employment, (or) Training. You're enrolled in college, so you're not NEET, but you could still have social anxiety or just be a bit of a hermit.

You didn't even go NEET for a full year though, and in my opinion you're only classed as a NEET after a whole year although you won't know >tfwneet until your third year, after that point every year feels the same. Students on gap years and people who get made redundant but find a job 6 months later aren't NEET for example.

I'd have been NEET for 7 and a half years under your definition, after leaving school I went to college for 3 years but it was only 2.5 days a week, and I only had 66% attendance. All time not spent in college was spent shut away in my room.

Also it's not a good thing, you don't ever want to be NEET, the being-neet-is-cool thing is either just a joke or a delusion, and it's very easy to become delusional when you never leave the house and have nobody to talk to.

Admittedly most of my usual showering time is taken up by standing under the hot water and daydreaming, but I didn't do that at all today, and it still took 20 minutes.

Does everyone else do every single crevice of the body? When I was reading before it seemed like most people just did face, armpits, privates and feet at best, but maybe they just weren't going into detail. I do every single part of my body quite meticulously, like the inside of my ears, behind my ears, every inch of my back, behind the balls, between my toes, everything.

After the shower I wipe everything down making sure the bath area is spotless, rinsing the bath so there are no hairs in the tub, using a window scraper thing to remove any water on the shower door, etc. That probably adds a lot to my time.

First, there's the fact it's a piece of plastic with a waveform carved into it. The waveform you can carve into it will not be a perfect representation of what was on the master recording. When a needle runs through it, the grooves get worn down, so each time you play the record it sounds duller and duller and noisier and noisier until there's hardly any treble left at all, and it sounds distorted. It does take a significant amount of plays to get to that stage though.

Second, there's the mechanical noise, because there's a needle on a plastic disc, on a slipmat, on a rotating platter. It's audible at normal listening levels on breakdowns or quiet sections, but you'll start to ignore it after a while. Rumble also comes under this, if you walk about in your room, the needle will pick it up, and create large amounts of low frequency content, and may even make the needle skip.

Next, is the sound of dust, which you're not going to be able to remove without really going out of your way to clean the record. This is completely audible even at normal listening level.

Then, you've got scratches. Records without scratches are very hard to come by, and it is extremely easy to make them, even just by accidentally knocking the tonearm. Which you will, especially when you're new to vinyl, it happens to everyone. These can be really loud, and can make the needle skip if it's really bad.

Next is warping. If a record is ever in direct sunlight, the vinyl goes soft, and then it hardens slightly out of shape. This will make the pitch go up and down when you play it, and that makes it unlistenable.

Then, there's RIAA equalization. In the process from studio master tape -> master pressing, an EQ curve is applied that rolls off all the bass, and boosts the treble. This is so that the grooves on the record aren't so wide from the bass that they knock the needle out of position, and also has the added benefit of allowing more grooves, thus longer recordings, on the record. When playing vinyl back, you'll have it plugged into a "phono" input, which contains a pre-amp more noise and an RIAA EQ that does the opposite of the one in the studio, turning up the bass and bringing down the treble.

However, the standard of this curve isn't very strict, every mixer or phono input you come across will make records sound slightly different, and they'll never perfectly match the one they used in the studio. Not to mention the standard for this curve changed over the years, so records from the 50s, 60s, and 70s, won't sound like they were intended to on modern equipment.

These are just some of the reasons why vinyl is a terrible audio format, at least compared to digital copies of the original master tapes.

Audio tech is my thing, I could sperg about it for days. Note, most of my own equipment is fairly low-budget due to being either a teenager or NEET when I bought it, but I've used tons of high-end equipment over the years and while I was at college, so I'm not ignorant to what's out there.

I normally listen to things on my computer, I've got a USB audio interface Tascam US-1641 going into an analogue mixer Soundcraft Compact10, decent mixer but the pots are all knackered and crackly on mine after 8 years of constant use, which my headphones Sennheiser HD 25-1 MK2, can't beat them for the price are plugged into. The signal quality is ever so slightly worse compared to coming straight out of the audio interface headphone socket due to all the various mixer components in the signal chain, but I prefer the convenience of having all the devices in my room coming out of one headphone output without me having to move.

For speakers, I've got a couple of Alesis M1Active 520 monitors they're a little bright, so I've got tissue taped over the tweeters, complemented by a 10" subwoofer that used to be in my dad's car, powered by an old rewired PC power supply. I'm very makeshift., again hooked up to my mixer. They're both a little smaller than I would really like, but it still sounds pretty decent. Not accurate or "flat" in the slightest, and my room has never been acoustically treated, so for actually making music I use my headphones, but it sounds decent nonetheless.

 No.24024

>>24022

A rule of thumb I learnt in college is that if they're less than £500, you're getting decent hi-fi speakers, not monitors. However, unless you've got a proper acoustically treated home studio, that doesn't really matter, because they wouldn't sound flat meaning all frequencies sound equal volume to the average human ear, with no colouration anyway.

Most studio monitors don't reproduce a whole lot of sub bass so they're usually complemented with a subwoofer, and smaller monitors will be lacking on the bass even more so. While this is usually a problem, it could be a good thing depending on your living situation. They'll have a crap tonne more bass than the tiny horrible plastic PC speakers that people normally have anyway. High-frequency content is fairly consistent, I don't believe there's such thing as a dull monitor, but the mids and bass can vary greatly, even just by where they are located in the room.

I've heard these http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B005F3H6Q8 , and they are really good for that price range and size. I actually bought my mum a second hand pair of these for our downstairs area, and she uses them instead of the shitty, tinny kitchen radio that triggered my audio autism. It's kind of surreal having high quality sound with bass that you can feel in your dining room and kitchen.

For making music however, I prefer to work in headphones. My monitors and sub are basically "just for fun", although if you're making dance music like I do it's nice to know how it "feels" as well as how it sounds. I mostly make dance music, but I've done various other bits and bobs too. Most of my life I made house and garage because that's what I grew up with, but these days I'm more inspired by older disco and funk tracks, with synths everywhere. It's hard to really pinpoint my own sound, I just make things that I like to hear.

You are a fountain of knowledge my friend, my sincerest thanks.

I-If you post some music I'd love to listen to it? Failing that I'd be more than happy just to know what artists you enjoy. Garage and house are genres I like but I've never gotten deep into, I kind of suck at delving deep into music in general. I tend to just listen to the same albums over and over again rather than discovering anything new. Those monitors look nice, I'll bookmark them and mull it over.

I guess that's true, I just feel like I should have done it already. And the thing is I know I could have done, all the opportunities were there for me but I was too anxious to talk to anyone or do anything. I still am in fact. Plus, I fell into a "writer's block" somewhere around 2009-2010 when my depression was at it's worst, and even though the worst of the depression has long since passed, I've never really managed to get back into making music like I used to be able to.

I used to make 2 or 3 tracks a day when I was 13 - 16, now I start 2 or 3 per season of the year. I was so focused on being a DJ/producer back then, and so confident that this was going to be my career that I didn't focus one bit on my GCSEs or socialising with friends, and I went straight into college in a different city to do music tech. That's when depression and social anxiety hit, and everything just came tumbling down, and after several years of drowning my mind in anime, video games and imageboards, I've gotten nowhere.

Although the last time I "gave it a shot" the best place to shill your music online was myspace, so I'll have to do some research as to what the cool kids are using these days.

I've felt old ever since I was about 18. I wish I could just pause my age and not get any older.

I always feel so uncomfortable seeing the old people in supermarkets who need the staff to do everything because they can barely move their arms. There's an old man on my street who sometimes asks me to put post in the postbox because he can't walk a minute away from the house without having to take a break every 30 steps to catch his breath.

It's scary.

yeah, the trouble is that the left wing types want to ignore that it's an illness that can really fuck people up, they even have rude names for those of us that do think it is.

I agree. I believe there is a liberal agenda in promoting this sort of lifestyle of acceptance or degeneracy but I don't know for what purpose. Id like to think that medical companies are trying to find out what's gone wrong in their heads though, and attempting to find a way to solve it. Our current extremist culture of embrace everything is only hurting the chances of us ever finding a solution.

(And while I know mental health treatment through medication is a bit hit and miss, it's better than nothing, and if it existed for trannies it would definitely be a whole lot better than cutting off their dicks/tits)

 No.24202

Today is the 5th day of the 12th month of the 654th year. Ours is the final generation. After us, the dogscape will be all that is left and all remaining men will either absorb into mother dog or perish from this swiftly dying world.

I have only a vague memory of my mother. Whether she was killed, stolen, or absorbed, I can't say. Really, no one is quite sure what happened to the women. Slowly but surely, they've disappeared, often vanishing in the night without any warning and leaving no trace. Women are the only thing of any value in this world anymore; and the primary purpose of the tribe is to protect the group's claim to a woman, who is used for the benefit of all the members

Our tribe's woman was taken several months ago. The first month, we mourned her. She may have been a captive in many ways, but many of us could not help but become attached to her. The second, some of the men began engaging in homosexual activities with one another out of desperation. I'm sure that I was not the only one who realized that there was little meaning to our continued companionship and that soon the tribe would disband. This is the third month since she was taken and it's all falling apart. First the elder was killed over a dispute; it was really just a confirmation that the unity of the tribe no longer existed, no longer had any reason to exist without the tribe's woman. And so, we began to drift apart.

 No.24203

I know what will come next. When tribes dissipate, the members, alone and confused, come to depend on the mother dog for sex in much the same way they do for food, warmth, and shelter. Mother dog's sex organs dot the landscape like diseased watering molehills in the dogflesh. The men find a sex organ to claim for their own and spend their days thrusting into it. Often, they find entrances near dog trees, fucking when they're desirous and eating the fetuses when they're hungry. They have no reason ever to move from their mound. In this way, men forget the world around them and become obsessed with mother dog; now not only a mother, but a lover too; it is their everything. It is common to see skeletons, either bare or being picked apart by dogs, their pelvises still pressing into a dog mound, surrounded by the still-reeking stench of their own filth.

Today is the 27th day of the 12th month of the 654th year. As I had predicted, the former members of my tribe have slowly but surely fallen into a degenerate lives as mound humpers. The desperate scum have forgotten their own humanity. Sickening. I vow never to fall into that disgusting state. And so I will walk this lonely, depraved dogscape searching. It can't end this way, with all humanity uselessly masturbating itself into extinction. So I continue, knowing I may end up hopeless utterly defeated by the dogscape.

I'd likely get hypothermia before getting clean. I've tried standing under the shower while it's hot, and turning it off, because our shower has some anti-limescale thing where the temperature drops to cold before the water stops. Thanks, yeah the chair's from IKEA, but it's pretty battered now, all the "skin" on the headrest is coming off. Most of the stuff isn't plumbed in, but from top to bottom I've got my Soundcraft Compact10 mixer held up by a couple of old surround sound speakers, an Alesis MIDIVERB II DSP unit (1986), Yamaha TX81Z FM synthesizer (1987), Tascam US-1641 audio interface, a patch bay currently not in use, and an Alesis 3630 compressor from the 90s I think, it's pretty shit, also not in use.

Not that much outside of the 1200/1210 MK2s I'm afraid. Those decks are solid as fuck though, they could smash a brick. Any deck you do end up buying/obtaining make sure it's direct-drive and not a belt-drive piece of shit. Research the way vinyl playback works, and you'll quickly come to the conclusion that you need some high-quality and solidly built equipment to keep everything stable.

I'm an elemental shaman m8. I'm the one who sold my accounts the other day; I didn't intend to play again, but I realized that I now have massive amounts that I'm unsure how to spend–so I'm playing again, albeit not as much. Overall I'm pleased that I sold them, because now I'm £170 better off, and I quite enjoy leveling anyway.

Yes, dwarves get by far the best priest racials on Alliance, while undead get by far the best ones on Horde. Blizz really fucked up the balance in that respect, because if you don't play either dwarf or undead as a priest, you're massively gimped.

It's just a cash cow now. Their board of directors is full of Jews, they put the least amount of effort possible into their expansions, hardly ever release content, and have a massive cash shop for ingame cosmetic items. You can even buy high level characters now. Also, Bobby Kotick is the most stereotypically thriftmaster kike I've ever seen. It's my strong belief that Jews killed WoW.
