Getting /fit/ during winter

I need help getting /fit/ while indoors. What workouts are good for burning calories while indoors? I need workouts with reps/sets for a weakling beginner. I use a treadmill from time to time and it feels like a weak exercise. I am not in a very good spot with my health and pretty much obese, but I have the inspiration to continue (lost 40lb so far).

Zinc Suppliments

I got some chelated zinc supplements because I know that my diet may be low in zinc, impeded by soy, and drained by fapping (I've improved on that last one a lot). One problem is that it started giving me a terrible morning shit, so I stopped but I still retained a marked increase in body feeling and vitality.

Do any of you have any experience with zinc supplements? Apparently this is not uncommon due to zinc toxicity. Does anyone have advice?

Moving forward I'm thinking of taking zinc after fapping and once or twice a week, although the bottle recommends once a day. My brand is sundown naturals and each pill is 50 mg, which is apparently 30 mg above the daily recommendations.

Working out While at Work?

Currently I tend to have a lot of free time from 9am to 10:30am where I'm not doing much and usually just on the internet, I'd like to use this time to exercise since I get home kinda late. I've just been doing push ups and situp's for the past 2 days but those get pretty repetitive and I'm pretty sure they don't do much unless you do like 200 of each. (I haven't brought any equipment yet).

- I can't leave and I need to be able to drop everything at a moments notice in case I need to answer the phone or do other stuff.

-And large equipment would probably get annoying and look unsightly, I'm thinking dumbells are the biggest thing I should use since theres a good spot I can put them.

what would be a good routine to work around this? I'm used to having access to my roommates benchpress and full body workout machine so I've never really cared much for routine. But a lack of equipment makes me think its more important. I've got a lot of money right now so expensive equipment isn't a problem. We also have a shower which is nice even though it looks like a gas chamber.

I just started experiencing pain a few days ago in my lower core. When I fart it relieves the pressure and pain a little and when I eat the pain and pressure start building up. I think I have gas buildup in my intestines since it's in my lower abdominal area and i think the stomach is higher up.

Home Workouts

I've been trying to exercise twice per day, so I've started going to the gym in the morning and doing some light exercise at home in the evening before bed. I've wanted to develop a full body, body weight routine for these days as well as a more thorough workout for times where I am unable to go to the gym. I really don't do body weight, so I need some suggestions. I currently do this:

Long time lurker here, never had the conviction or motivation to truly see the light that is gainz, but now its time. I need to shed the the normie image i have and ascend. I have flip flopped between regular gym time and diet planning, and literally doing nothing. At my peak i went 3 times a week, pretty much just used machines (too intimidated for public free weights just yet) and did a little cardio

Some context, 5'8'' manlet, 140lbs with a higher body fat % (I dont know specifically but my body type is chubby as of current). Eventual goal is around 155/160ish with a low body fat.

Am i better off trying to shift off the fat before going for gains, or just bulking and working x2 to cut the fat while building muscle? Ive had some suggestions from friends who gym regularly, some recommending a do Keto diet for about 3 weeks and then following a standard gym and diet plan, some saying just bulk from the get go.

Chronophobia, homesickness and depression

I'm losing it, /fit/, i'm actually losing it. I thought that i could deal with those feelings on my own, or that they are normal, but it's clear to me that i'm sinking lower and lower. I came back home from the capital where i'm studying and wherever i look, i just see myself when i was a child overlayed on top of the grim reality. I can only think about how bad everything is now, and then i think that by all definitions i'm still a kid/young adult and that things are only going to get worse.

Now that i'm home i spend all time at the computer, i refuse to go out and see my little city because i have countless memories scattered everywhere, nearly all of them with friends that i lost forever to the capital and the passage of time. I refuse to eat, i sleep 4 hours every night if even that since i try to avoid sleep as much as possible and i haven't opened one fucking book since i'm home, neither for me, nor for school. The past two weeks I've had major headaches nearly every day and for the past two days I've had a cold and mild fevers. Hi. I just started lifting weights. I don't want to be a betafaggot soyboy anymore. I wanna be STRONG. Also I don't want to be fat anymore. So, here's what I am doing

I began my serious training almost a year ago. My dad contacted me with a fitness teacher. He's excellent. Taught me everything I need to know about nutrition, good practices and of course he guides me in the gym.

Well, I'm not quite there yet but I can see it forming and every week I notice more definition in the abs. I can touch my stomach and feel the rounded shape of the abs. It's almost a scary feeling.

Then, there's the things that were promised by my "online research" here in /fit/ and in other places. The most important is the face. Oh fuck the face. If only every man knew. I look so fucking different. I can see my adams apple, I can see my neck is much thinner and nicer, then my jaw is so much more defined. The jaw is such a big difference. My cheekbones appeared out of nowwhere and just basically I have a many face now. The only thing that ruins it a bit is my scars from acne I had as a teen. Still, it's such a massive improvement. It was exactly like those before and after pics suggested.

It comes down to baby fat. I wasn't fat, I mean maybe I was. "Chubby" or whatever. Since I'm tall, I didn't look that chubby, but the fat was there. I was hitting 100kg, now I weight 78kg.

In my training, I build muscle as I lost fat. I went through a bit of a skinny face, it didn't last long tho.

My body now is lean and muscular. Baby fat is fading. I don't have huge muscles, those who are tall will understand that our muscles don't look the same. However, next year I'll probably pack some serious heat if I keep going this way.

I was also able to quit porn and fap less. Now I been fapping once a week for about a month.

I got more confidence, got friends and now I'm thinking of getting a gf. A year ago I was a loner, I never called myself "incel" or any faggy name but I was just that: alone in my room playing vidya or doing whatever.

My testosterone levels are probably higher. I'll ask my trainer about that. I want to start approaching girls, but I have my doubts as to what to do for religious reasons.

Help with sugar and caffeine addiction

I've been fed sugar and caffeine since birth, 41 years. I have been trying my best to break the addiction, especially from refined sugar, AKA table sugar.

I have problems with acute migraines, in my doctors terms. Caffeine and sugar seem to help eliminate them. My problem, beside feeling sick at my stomach, is my migraines come back worse than ever when I give these two things up. Within a week, I'm back to consuming caffeine and sugar in large amounts. I don't know the amount of caffeine, but I am ingesting 3 to 5 full cups a day of sugar through food and mostly drinks. Southern sweet ice tea is my addiction. I can go through 1 to 1.5 gallons a day. Along with little packets of sweet candy.

Any tips or advice to help get off this stuff before it makes my health worse? My doctor only wants to give me seriously powerful addictive drugs for my migraines. I don't want that. I'm 12.5 years sober from a very long dependency of alcohol.

A few years ago I had a fire lit under my ass and decided to Get Better At Life. How do you guys train your foot work? I haven't done any footwork training since high school and am looking into getting back into it. I use to have mini hurtles that I would jump through in a bunch of awkward patterns, and it really made a difference. When I first started I was just tripping over myself and constantly stepping on the hurtles, but by senior year I could do all the normal stuff easily.

Becoming an asshole/ego from lifting

Lately I've been working out harder and being more serious about eating enough to get gains etc and I've noticed that my mindset has become more aggressive. I smile less, have more negative thoughts about other people and am more outspoken about things that annoy me etc. In some ways those are good traits, not taking shit from any one, being upfront about things that annoy you rather than a passive agressive beta etc, but overall I don't think that my personality has "developed" in a good direction. Overall I'm usually a positive, extroverted guy that makes friends easily and people complement my good vibe/energy/positivity. Now I often feel like I'm on coke, just full of my self, an unwarranted sense of being above others around me, I'm more introverted etc.

Is this just a normal effect of testo levels rising? Will it level out over time, or should I do some psychedelics or something to confront my ego? I dont use roids or anything for the record.

I experienced a similar phenomenon last year as well when I became more stringent about my diet and went harder at the gym. My mindset became more negative, ie putting down others in my mind who I percieved to be below my status, I felt entitled to women and would feel pissed off etc when rejected rather than not making a big deal out of it. Then I started caring less about gains and more about my happiness, ate more crap etc (I've a fast metabolism) and I became happier, more sociable, made more friends again etc without really going out of shape in any way as I originally feared would happen.

I'm on a SARMs cycle of mk 677, rad 140 and cardarine. I burn 500+ calories a night on the elipitical, do push ups, sit ups, chins and full body compound lifts 3x a week and have a labour job. I also eating at a calorie deficit that is suppose to let me burn 2 lbs a week.

Guys what the fuck do you do about protein farts? I'm trying to bulk right now and the farts I get are insane. I find myself constantly holding in farts to the point where my stomach hurts. To give you an example of what I eat; today for breakfast I had 6 (usually have around 4) scrambled eggs and 4 slices (usually have 2) of wholegrain toast. For lunch I had a yogurt ( I eat these everyday) and some fruit. Dinner I had some fish, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots and potatoes with a litre of milk. Roughly 3000 calories in total. I also take a probiotic supplement everyday. I don't even take any protein powders or anything.

Crippling DOMS

I've always had bad DOMS, but missing a week's worth of workouts seems to have brought them back at full intensity. Just a week. Lifting when ill

I was wondering if one of you fellow /fit/izens could tell me if it is bad to lift when one is sick? I have had a fever the last two days, which has prevented me from going to the gym. I am much better today, but I still am sick - the sweats and chills are over, but I am not 100% (still snotty etc). When is it okay to work out and when is it not? I have read online that fever is where one should draw the line. I hate idling at home. I am currently bulking and albeit being sick, I still managed to eat all that I am supposed to eat. After doing a 4 day water fast, I stopped eating bread. Normally I'd eat something like 9 slices, divided between breakfast, lunch and supper and some kind of warm meal with either pasta or rice. Now I usually eat two meals a day. However, I am having a hard time getting enough fat in my diet, I know it's supposed to be something like 50-60 percent fat, 45-35 percent protein and 5 percent cards, yet I am having a hard time getting all the right fat. I have heard that a common thing people do wrong about keto is going 100 percent protein without any of the needed fat. What are some good, preferably cheap ways to get enough fat? I have gout, which is essentially a disease where too high uric acid in ones body ends up crystallizing in ones joints, to avoid this from getting worse, I have to keep a low level of a substance "Purin", its basically in everything, but to different degrees depending on the food.

I'm a very thin manlet. Overall, I'm very very weak. Sometimes, I will get into fights because of anything.

/fit/, I've been working on site as a laborer for a few weeks now, and have noticed considerable gains to my upper body, but since the work usually involves a lot of lifting and working with hands/arms, and only really a lot of climbing stairs/walking around and SOMETIMES picking some shit off the floor that makes my trousers split even more if I lift from the ground, so my calves haven't really grown much either.

I'm kinda sick of the lack of calf growth in my body because:

1) I know bad genetics is no excuse, but some people start off with decent calves, and I've always really had shit ones, but decent thighs, so the schism between them is even more obvious. They look quite disproportionate even.

2) The nature of the job means that I'll usually come home sweaty and tired, thinking I've had a workout at work but only my upper body seems to really look much different, and I know I already had a decent upper body anyway.

3) I've been looking for a solution to my calf problem for a while now, but I have no intention of getting a gym membership or anything of that sort.

I'm looking to get into bearmode, and at 95 kg + (6'0) with a waist line about 34-38, I'd say I'm not doing too terribly bad, but I feel like my disproportionate calves are holding me back. What do /fit/?

Big guy no more

Man it's been so long since I've visited this board. But I've decided to call upon my old friends for a favor.

Now, I understand spot reduction is the biggest myth bro science ever spouted and that I can't just simply lose fat in one area.

That being said, I'm a T-Rex and I simply need to get rid of that state.

Now I don't want to follow some routine that focuses on the upper body till it all evens out. I need to have over all smaller legs and thighs because in a sport I'm practicing bigger legs aren't a plus, beyond a certain point bigger legs are a liability holding you back rather than helping you.

Now I don't know what I am supposed to do for this, so any help is appreciated.

I thought I would try and maintain my caloric intake or go on a slight cut, and focus on the upperbody in the gym and leave my legs only to cardio (rowing, running). This way, since I'm not doing work to maintain my lowerbody muscles their volume would be reduced and that cardio and my sport would maintain it at the volume I needed, Fat of course will go at the same rate unless I turn to have been fucked up by nature and have higher fat distribution there.

I also believe that doing more cardio involving leg muscles or doing higher volume leg work in the gym would make the muscles adapt by reducing the volume of glycogen reservoirs as opposed to lower volume training like SS or SL. I'm just pulling this outta my arse here.

About myopia

Have anyone any solution regarding myopia?

I know there is surgery (even though there is in REALITY around 20% of complication, like halos at night etc..), but seriously, surgery is not gonna change anything I'll pass to my descendants. I would be able to not wear glasses (and that's not even sure since it can changes after the operation), but I'm too afraid of the complication, and having dry eyes. Moreover, the industry of eye surgery is very very powerful. That's why there is a huge marketing around it (I'll not talk about how they passed injuries for complications to make them able to operate etc..).

Seriously, because of myopia, I feel like I'm crippled. I don't think any normal functioning human could have this disease if he develops normally. What is crazy is that I never actually realized until now how bad this is for me (huge myopia, -6 at each eyes). I only truly considered it when I tried to get on the "fighting" side. For example, because of my myopia, I can't do competitive boxing in my country (limit being at -3.5).

I know the Bates method, it seems good, even though there is a lot of "scammers" around making money out of it, calling themselves specialist of the method (it truly makes the thing feels bad) while not having any background. That's truly a get back

Moreover, it seems that myopia don't have anything to do with genetics, even though having parents with myopia makes you more prone to have it (I would personally put it on bad habits they transmit to you). Recent studies put the cause on lack of sun light when young because of modern schooling… So maybe the next generations will be spared (they already implemented changes in asia)… But can I do anything about that?

Extreme Cutting

Eating >500k a day until I'm not an enormous ham-planet anymore.

Yesterday I had a can of v8 for breakfast, a rice cake for lunch and some broccoli for dinner (total about 150k). Today I will have celery for breakfast, spinach for lunch and steamed cauliflower and carrots for dinner (total about 200k)

Current Goal

What's your current goal, /fit/, and how is your progress on it? Doesn't all have to be /fit/-related, making any positive change in your life goes. So, I'll start:

I started at 235, now I'm 227 after around four weeks. I plan on losing about two pounds every week.

I used to do a strength routine a few years ago, never reached very impressive numbers but it benefits me to this day. I don't want to measure myself by where I used to be back when I lifted regularly, and besides, I'd like some aesthetics. I think my genetics are quite good for that. My upper arms are naturally big and I even have some visible veins, and my skeleton is that of a barrel, good conditions to become buff.

I first wanna focus on the weightloss and start the routine when I'm lower, maybe 200lbs. Otherwise, the two goals might interfere. They don't have to, but I know who I am and that in my case, they probably will. Until then, I'll try to get back in the habit of going to the gym, and see what that feels like with reduced caloric intake. That's just the experimentation phase.

Oh, and one more good thing: Higher volume (thinking of 8 to 12 reps on most exercises, besides deadlift) means I get more practice with the moves, and one of my biggest issues is not muscular strength but that my coordination is shite and I therefore can't recruit my muscles properly. So a bodybuilding routine will probably do more for my strength levels than one focused on muh powerlifting.

Forming good nutrition habits as a picky eater

Just how in the hell are you supposed to push yourself to eat healthy if you are and have always been an extremely picky motherfucker when it comes to food? Do any of you dudes actually work in the fitness world? How is it? What do you do? How hard is it competition-wise? From gym instructor to being a bloody kinesiologist, I wanna hear about it.

I'll be honest, I'm a sad cunt right now. When I used to lift (I really want to get back into it, I really enjoyed the gym) I realized that it was the closest thing approximating a "passion" that I had as it allowed me to feel accomplishment by solely relying on my own body. I have zero other hobbies or interests besides lazily playing vidya and the occasional anime, I can honestly say that lifting was the first time I really felt "alive".

Part of the reason for this thread is because after hopping from college course to college course I realized just how much of an uninspired asshole I am. I'm now thinking of trying to get into fitness somehow as it's basically the last thing I know myself to enjoy. I'm 24 so the clock is ticking regardless.

Though I realize enjoying something doesn't equate to being good at doing something as a career, if I were to seriously attempt this, how would/should I go about it? What would be the minimum requirements to land a job at a gym and how should I look at things to properly invest in a future in fitness?

To start off I'm thinking of just dropping by the gyms near me and asking around, see what advise they can give me, but I figured you guys might be able to help me alongside it.

How to Deal with Other People?

/fit/ anons, I have problems.

My parents bring in junk food and make it harder to lose weight. It's worse when my mother says I don't have a weight problem, even though I'm 180lb which surely isn't muscle. A while ago I was very obese, 230lb; I had started calorie cutting, improving my diet, and finding some spare time to exercise. But only when I am away from the household and find time to eat at places. When I am stuck around the household, I fall into their habits. It's like my parents want to keep me fat, and they're very indifferent about the weight problem.

As an anon who was once obese, it's difficult to cut food cravings. Probably a lack of protein. But I need the strength to resist temptations and cook for myself rather than lazily eat. I'm still overweight and trying to crush the final curb with 20 lb to lose before I make for gains. It hurts my morale when my parents tell me, "Anon, you're completely fine; I don't want you to lose or gain anymore." I know I am not fine, and I have an awful stomach. I desire to lose the weight first and proceed to get an athletic build with rigorous running…

The running part proceeds to another problem: social anxiety. I dislike going outdoors and have no street smarts. I get nervous around other people and feel like I could be attacked or something.

Before an anon proceeds to tell me it's my fault, it's very hard to maintain a good diet with constant inflow of junk food coming in. It really sucks being coddled… it makes you weak (socially and physically).

How accurate are calorie counters on workout machines?

As it says in the title, I was wondering: How accurate are calorie counters on workout machines?

I'm asking because they seem too forgiving and yet wildly varying from machine to machine - for example, me doing 5 km on the elliptical machine in 17 mins yields about 80 calories or so, while 1 km in 5 min on the rowing machine yields 50, and a workout buddy who's a fatty trying to get better seems really encouraged by 15 minutes and 2 km on the treadmill yielding 150 calories.

I'm asking partly out of sheer curiosity, but also because I'm trying to put together a calorie in/calorie out equation, and I need accurate numbers to plug in.

I am 4 months into my regiment, I was originally 374 pounds of useless NEET, I hard-started a 1450 calorie a day keto regiment and haven't deviated at all. I am doing more a 40 40 20 of protein, fat, and fiber

Hey guys, newbie here. Want to ask a question: I want to get fit, and had been doing so for some weeks a year before. However, I am clumsy and whenever I fuck up doing something, I get depressed immediately. So, how do I cope with this? I don't want depression to interfere with my progress all the time.

Is anyone having confidence problems after masturbation? When I didn't masturbate for 2 weeks I went to the club with my friends I get 3 girls numbers and had a sex with 2 girls that night. Why Do Minorities Hate Me?

I'm an average sized white male. I ride my bike a lot to stay fit and active because it is just a fun pastime activity. For some reason, I have had lots of shit thrown at me. Bottles, rocks, fast food, rapid fire spanish, etc. It has only ever been a minority throwing shit at me, never a white person. I don't get it.

Am I built for powerlifting?

I never lifted and want to get into powerlifting this summer vacation because I am somehow stronger than most people I know (the only one stronger than me is a fitlad, so it makes sense) despite the fact that I am a lazy lardass that does no sport or exercise at all. I spent nearly $4000 on a road bike and in one month doing about 150 miles minimum each week got super fit and feel great everyday physically and mentally much more stable and positive. I then musterd the confidence to ask out a 11/10 QT and we’re going for ice cream next week. Keep your chin up lads, it only took 1 month to change my life for the better

Hey /fit/. Fa/tg/uy here. I've been a fat fuck my entire life 25 years, and I never really cared. I had my vidya and warhammer 40k, and as a quasi-NEET only ever worked part time jobs, never more than 20 hours a week, that was good enough. Sure, my knee is fucked, constantly popping out of the socket when I walk, but who REALLY cares about that, I thought.

And then… Three months ago I ended up managing to get a full time job, and I ended up making some friends with the door-greeter, who turns out to be a lot like me, but seriously into LARPing - SCA, Dagohir, etc. I'll be honest, I always found LARPing to be pretty cool when done right, so it didn't take long for him to get me interested in it.

Problem is, I'm a fat fuck who is used to sitting still for days, playing video games or assembling 40k models, and Dagohir, the LARP he does, is a combat game, so it is the opposite of what I've done for a decade. So while he's going easy on me, I'm getting my ass kicked regardless. I can't move fast enough, I tire quickly, and I'm not strong enough to hold back his charges, even when I've got a tower shield and am bracing against it. However, that wasn't what even made me decide to get into shape.

Two days ago he had let me borrow his biggest Gambeson a type of padded armor, that was XXL. It was too tight for me to get it on. That was when I realized how fucking fat I am. It was so fucking humiliating, and I had to make a change. I loved playing vidya, and I loved playing 40k, but LARP, as goofy as it can be, has my passion, and the fact that I can't take part in something I've fallen in love with is spirit-breaking.

Sorry for the blogpost, but I was hoping I could get some advice. I don't live anywhere near a gym - Closest gym from where I live is two hours away - And all I have is an old exercise bike. I need to get into shape. Not just drop this fat, but gain strength, gain endurance, gain stamina.
