We all know that Youmu varies both in personality and in eye color both in canon and in fanon. So here's my theory why that is. It still has some issues though: I think that Youmu is a very moody person (although always very diligent). We know that she got easily influenced by the scarlet mist in PCB and her eye color not only got red but she also became somewhat irrational and crazy. Basically, I think that this condition arose because of her growing up in Meikai. Due to Hanrei being external she gets affected by the Yuurei around her. Her feelings are then apparent from her eye color. Basically: Red means insanity, blue means composedness and yellow means being focussed. Dark colors are more intense and light colors less intense. Of course, mixtures are quite common, too. Blue is her primary eye color but it is often mixed with yellow and therefore becomes green. Now, if you add deredere to any of the possible combinations, this may result in various dere-types (usually lighter colors). But I usually see her as Kuudere sometimes mixed with Dandere. Depending on those around her, her eye color may change all the time.
I know, there are still some issues (especially in the picture) and I'm really unsure about the assignment of the main colors (insanity, composedness, focussedness), but I will continue to work it out.

Never really thought about it that way, I just considered it fan/zun inconsistencies.
I generally think of her as sort of Kuudere/Dandere myself. Doesn't have many friends besides people she's really close with. Willing to talk to other people but doesn't open up to most of them. She's really protective of people she's close with though.
I've always considered blue eyes my preference. Might be because I'm blue eyed along with everyone in my family.

…but Tobiichi Origami is probably the closest anime character to how I imagine Youmu so far:
- kuudere and badass in serious situations
- dandere when feeling comfortable
- almost emotionless in other situations
- very attached and loyal (some mild form of yandere and stalking)
And yes, I totally agree with you when it comes to her reservedness. She's clearly an introvert and doesn't show much of what she really feels, but will feel comfortable just being in your presence. I really like this kind of platonic love.

Another thing: It's said that Youmu controls Hanrei subconsciously. Do you consider Hanrei being able to take a (translucent, transparent or otherwise) human-like form canon? (It's canon in Immaterial and Missing Power.)
