You'd better not limit it to sorting the gear and polishing photos in editor

Hey guys, glad to see traffic is starting to pick up around here.

Anyhoo, I have a couple of boxes of old family photos that I want to scan and digitize. Any recommendations on a good scanner?

I don't need anything state of the art, just something that can scan at a high quality and isn't to large.

Thanks!

That's not really what I'm talking about at all. I'm talking about 5x7 photos.

Thanks for the bump though and your hipster video. How neat!

Epson's film scanners are considered to be pretty good. Personally, I've been looking at this one:

I can't speak for the quality of any of these, though.

OP just get a macro lens for your dslr and a small macro tripod. Take high quality photos of your negatives then just invert the colors, set the levels, and crop in Photoshop or gimp. this method has way better quality than most scanners that mortals can afford.

This sounds so wonky though.

Thanks for the post!

How much would you have pay for a scanner that beats a $3-400 used APS-C dslr? How much is a decent macro lens?
