/cyber/ got a facelift, what do you think?
Any suggestions, bugfixes and criticism of the new .css? I'd like to get a nicer tiling background that's more high-tech, but I couldn't find any.
If you like the old version, it's still available as a custom theme here:http://p.pomf.se/6881Post last edited at

Other than that and the background it's pretty cool
Whatever happened to that scanline background, couldn't get that to work?

here's an easy fix. If centered layout is too unpopular, I'll just do it this way.
The scanlines thing didn't work well on a lot of browsers.
No.19905
I second the comment about hexagons. Hexagons are more high-tech than lozenges.
Also I wish we'd have monospace instead of courier, courier isn't black enough for me (having a fixedsys-like webfont would be the schwayest).
No.19908
I liked the old look better personally but you can do whatever you want, its your board.
Everything being centered is messing me up to be honest.
No.19910
I have to say that I liked the old look very much, but the fact that I was so used to it may be the reason.
I like the colors of the new one. Less h4x0r, more 80's high tech.
No.19913
I'm the shaz who called the last css shit.
The orange seems a tad bright but other than that it's fucking schway! LOVE the use of green and purple, colours a well matched. The centering is cyber as fuck, please keep it. It looks extremely cool, very old school.
If I was to nitpick I would say the body could be a little wider.
Also the boardlist is centred. I am working on some css to fix that because it's causing some unneeded wrapping.
I'm just a dick though, don't be put off by my negativity. It really does look fucking great. Nice work.

Ok dude, check that out, let me know what you think. I think the width could go up to 80% but any higher and it looks off on the right hand side. Not played with the orange, colours aren't my thing.
Again, it looks great.

Previous background was better, seriously this one is awful m8, at least use some high definition squares or some shit.

This new CSS is fucking amazing, now that the sweater-background has been removed.
I'd like to point out that I have no hate for the sweater-background's design, just that the fact that it's sized up and the edges are blurred really pisses me off. I'd be okay with a low-res sweater background, but just don't fuck it up with anti-aliasing.
Static background is always good though.
No.20066
This is much better. Cleaner and more readable. Great job.
No.20068
This color scheme is out of whack, at least get rid of the blue borders.
No.20069
I like the direction of the new theme but it needs work. Pic related, my take on the theme. I just modified it in my browser, so someone is going to have to explain to me how to submit it to the board, since I have no idea how that works. I'm good at writing CSS though, so no problems there, and I don't mind spending time on it.
The main thing is that the colors need to follow a scheme. Since the green main text looks good, I built the rest of it around that. Purple for links since it's a hot color and complements the green. Yellow and cyan for borders since they have a triadic relationship with purple, and look more /cyber/ than blue and red IMO.
Second, the colored shadows are schway in theory but in practice distract from the text, which is really bad, since the text should be the main attraction. So, I got rid of the drop shadows.
The background is iffy, I just opted for a flat dark grey, but that comes down to personal preference I think. I'm a /min/amalist, so I like flat design, but that might not be what other /cyber/punks are into. Some kind of hex grid sounds cool to me.
Again, if people like these ideas, and someone can tell me how to submit the CSS, I'm very happy to work on it, and implement ideas from others as well. Cheers.

Don't get so cocky just yet.
You've got some shit-tier indentation in
http://pastebin.com/UKAccC9M, and you need to read up on some color theory.
>>20068It's purple for me. Check your monitor settings.
No.20089
>>20084Sorry, I didn't mean to come off as a braggart. :/ I'm no expert, certainly. To be fair though, I was not at all trying to make a final product there, I was just trying to make a demo in as little time as possible, working off the original (which had some spacing issues to begin with), so cut me some slack. If anyone likes it, I'll re-write the whole thing and make it nice.
Regarding the color scheme, I actually have been studying color theory. Again, I would not call myself an expert, but I think I have a decent understanding of the basics. Could you please be specific about what you don't like so I can address it? Thanks.
No.20101
>>20089Most text editors allow you to use 'ctrl + [' to remove indentation from an assload of lines at once.
In regards to your color scheme, the lime text and the yellow borders are too similar in color. The orange and text being there by default just makes it burn so much worse.
Your CSS also removes the ncurses style dropshadows, which is probably the best thing about the new CSS.
No.20108

No.20111
>>20069>>20101Okay, take two.
http://pastebin.com/P6De073GThe main thing that's bothering me about the current theme is the mossy green and blueish purple border around the posts and threads. They really clash with the slightly yellowish green main text. The red links don't look that great either.
I tried to compromise somewhat with this version.
Oh, also, I'm pretty much entirely focusing on the thread+post styling for now, so please ignore the other parts.
No.20120
Should change the greentext color from that weird baby blue to amber, and change redtext to white or something
Amber is much nicer to look at, and people greentext a lot more often than anything else
No.20182
>>20111The color scheme is still fucked. Better, but still fucked.
You also put the ncurses shadows on the wrong side, so they aren't uniform with the ncurses shadows with the return/go to top/catalog/update shadows.
Protip: The complementary color for lime is purple.
The orangish-yellow on black is still stabbing my iris.

The basic points:
-Open Source
-Procedurally generated planets and cities
-resource mining
-NPCs compete with other NPCs in a simulated free market economy for all goods/services in the world.
-Player can start a business to compete with NPCs(or other players since via multiplayer) Any good or service avalible in the game can be done by the player.
-Can be anything from a bounty hunter, hitman, pirate, courier, miner, or simply just set up shop in a city. Anything that you have the ability to make a profit off of you can do it, even things the devs never thought of.
-can spend brouzouf on stuff like weapons, armor, vehicles, cybernetic upgrades or furniture for you're ship/home ect.
-Perma death

First Person. It's going to be pretty minimalistic though. I don't have the capital to add everything I want like scripted quests(It's just pure sandbox) or procedural conversations(in the spirit of Animal Crossing I suppose) Though a lot of the mechanics I've had to cut corners on have actually turned out to be better methods. Not being a complicated Arma-tier mess is a pretty nice quality as well.
Some other points if you're interested(Just because I enjoy talking about it):
>The game is mostly physics based rather than have pre-scripted mechanics. You can imagine it will play a bit like gmod, just without the tacky comedic props.
>For building construction there will be a minimalistic snap-to-grid sims style house editor. Only for the building itself, all furniture and what-not is freeform, you place it yourself. This is actually easy as fuck to do.
>Rather than hand making animations, I plan to just use this with bullet physics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHj8RDfyqP0
>I also want to point out, being procedurally generated ≠ "blocky minecraft shit"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yI5YOFR1Wus <Case in point.
Everything I need is open source or at least has a fair amount of documentation on methods used. The art assets are all low poly(pics related, the style I'm going for) so the assets aren't an issue(Especially considering I'm making all the assets myself, yes it's that easy)
I really only need a few programmers(I would never be able to do all this myself)
Actually I lied, it's just another closed source early access zombie survival mining crafting game for windows ;^)
