キタ━━━━━━(゜∀゜)━━━━━━ッ!!

/cyber/ got a facelift, what do you think?

Any suggestions, bugfixes and criticism of the new .css? I'd like to get a nicer tiling background that's more high-tech, but I couldn't find any.

If you like the old version, it's still available as a custom theme here:

 No.19901

Looks schway as drek, but the background is kinda well wierd.

 No.19902

It's almost fucking Ouyabun

schway double dubs

>>19901
Agreed, needs hexagons

 No.19903

I don't like how threads are centered, really throws me off
Other than that and the background it's pretty cool
Whatever happened to that scanline background, couldn't get that to work?

 No.19904

>>19903

body {
float: left;
max-width: 95%;
margin-left: 10px
}

here's an easy fix. If centered layout is too unpopular, I'll just do it this way.

The scanlines thing didn't work well on a lot of browsers.

 No.19905

I second the comment about hexagons. Hexagons are more high-tech than lozenges.

Also I wish we'd have monospace instead of courier, courier isn't black enough for me (having a fixedsys-like webfont would be the schwayest).

 No.19908

I liked the old look better personally but you can do whatever you want, its your board.

Everything being centered is messing me up to be honest.

 No.19910

I have to say that I liked the old look very much, but the fact that I was so used to it may be the reason.

I like the colors of the new one. Less h4x0r, more 80's high tech.

 No.19913

I'm the shaz who called the last css shit.

The orange seems a tad bright but other than that it's fucking schway! LOVE the use of green and purple, colours a well matched. The centering is cyber as fuck, please keep it. It looks extremely cool, very old school.

If I was to nitpick I would say the body could be a little wider.

Also the boardlist is centred. I am working on some css to fix that because it's causing some unneeded wrapping.

I'm just a dick though, don't be put off by my negativity. It really does look fucking great. Nice work.

 No.19917

>>19908
This, Plus I really dislike the background from a cyberpunk point of view.

>>19904
Damn Chromers.

 No.19918

div.boardlist span {
float: left
}

div.boardlist.bottom span {
float: none
}

Ok dude, check that out, let me know what you think. I think the width could go up to 80% but any higher and it looks off on the right hand side. Not played with the orange, colours aren't my thing.

Again, it looks great.

 No.19920

Previous background was better, seriously this one is awful m8, at least use some high definition squares or some shit.

I like centered threads, it just takes a while to get used to.

 No.19921

Centered layout a shit.

 No.19922

>>19921
I personally like the centered one.

Yay, you broke it!

Just what this board needed!
> background hosted on imgur
> background looks like a fucking cardigan sweater
> top bar a shazbots asshole distance from top of page and chills there while you scroll around
> Broken by privacy addons (pic related)
> Not flat and minimal with a reasonable color scheme

It looks like anal birth resulting from several hours of brutal and excruciating corn-hole pounding between the Easter Bunny and the guy who designed Hotline Miami.

THIS, FUCKING THIS.

Centered FUCKING SUCKS.
Especially on my god damn netbook that I use to browse from bed.

>browsing /cyber/ from a shitty laptop in bed

>>19904
Make the entire look like actual formatted text.
Meaning:
>use a monospace font
>ensure that the 'shadow' of posts conforms to character height/width
>make sure the padding is right on all the stuff

This theme ain't half bad if you implement that.
Too lazy/busy to do it myself, sorry boardu-owneru ;_;

>>19905
Thirded.

Although, the green/aqua whatever color you use right now is so fucking schway. Holy fuck. Please keep that, Board Owner. <3

PS: use strawpoll to ask for feedback!

 No.19927

The background doesn't feel all that cyberpunk at all. Also these tiny, centered threads look like shit and are really offputting. Although, unlike >>19925 I kinda like the top bar

 No.19944

I don't like it as much. I think the old layout with the new layout's colors would be best.

But what do I know, I get shit on all the time here

 No.20024

This is 10/10, but the font is fucked on the Name, Email, and Subject fields.

 No.20028

Is it just me or is the old CSS back?

 No.20033

>>20028
just you, your browser probably cached it.

Not that guy, but I was wondering. Thanks.

I like it, but I don't know about the background.

 No.20041

I've changed some formatting things and replaced the background with the old "static" one since I liked that one more.

also the font's lucida console now.

i'm having a hard time replicating this issue >>19925, and I have noscript enabled.

 No.20049

>>20041
It's likely the issue is solely his. He didn't even state which browser he uses, which "privacy" addons and whether he was using custom css/scripts. He could just need to clear the cache.
I wouldn't sweat it.

 No.20061

This new CSS is fucking amazing, now that the sweater-background has been removed.

I'd like to point out that I have no hate for the sweater-background's design, just that the fact that it's sized up and the edges are blurred really pisses me off. I'd be okay with a low-res sweater background, but just don't fuck it up with anti-aliasing.

Static background is always good though.

 No.20066

This is much better. Cleaner and more readable. Great job.

 No.20068

This color scheme is out of whack, at least get rid of the blue borders.

 No.20069

File: 1428505558430.jpg (236.68 KB, 1280x800, 8:5, cyber theme.jpg)

I like the direction of the new theme but it needs work. Pic related, my take on the theme. I just modified it in my browser, so someone is going to have to explain to me how to submit it to the board, since I have no idea how that works. I'm good at writing CSS though, so no problems there, and I don't mind spending time on it.

The main thing is that the colors need to follow a scheme. Since the green main text looks good, I built the rest of it around that. Purple for links since it's a hot color and complements the green. Yellow and cyan for borders since they have a triadic relationship with purple, and look more /cyber/ than blue and red IMO.

Second, the colored shadows are schway in theory but in practice distract from the text, which is really bad, since the text should be the main attraction. So, I got rid of the drop shadows.

The background is iffy, I just opted for a flat dark grey, but that comes down to personal preference I think. I'm a /min/amalist, so I like flat design, but that might not be what other /cyber/punks are into. Some kind of hex grid sounds cool to me.

Again, if people like these ideas, and someone can tell me how to submit the CSS, I'm very happy to work on it, and implement ideas from others as well. Cheers.

top schway
Don't get so cocky just yet.
You've got some shit-tier indentation in http://pastebin.com/UKAccC9M, and you need to read up on some color theory.

>>20068
It's purple for me. Check your monitor settings.

 No.20089

>>20084

Sorry, I didn't mean to come off as a braggart. :/ I'm no expert, certainly. To be fair though, I was not at all trying to make a final product there, I was just trying to make a demo in as little time as possible, working off the original (which had some spacing issues to begin with), so cut me some slack. If anyone likes it, I'll re-write the whole thing and make it nice.

Regarding the color scheme, I actually have been studying color theory. Again, I would not call myself an expert, but I think I have a decent understanding of the basics. Could you please be specific about what you don't like so I can address it? Thanks.

 No.20101

>>20089
Most text editors allow you to use 'ctrl + [' to remove indentation from an assload of lines at once.

In regards to your color scheme, the lime text and the yellow borders are too similar in color. The orange and text being there by default just makes it burn so much worse.

Your CSS also removes the ncurses style dropshadows, which is probably the best thing about the new CSS.

 No.20108

Looks proper and cool.

 No.20111

>>20069
>>20101

Okay, take two.

http://pastebin.com/P6De073G

The main thing that's bothering me about the current theme is the mossy green and blueish purple border around the posts and threads. They really clash with the slightly yellowish green main text. The red links don't look that great either.

I tried to compromise somewhat with this version.

Oh, also, I'm pretty much entirely focusing on the thread+post styling for now, so please ignore the other parts.

 No.20120

Should change the greentext color from that weird baby blue to amber, and change redtext to white or something
Amber is much nicer to look at, and people greentext a lot more often than anything else

 No.20182

>>20111
The color scheme is still fucked. Better, but still fucked.

You also put the ncurses shadows on the wrong side, so they aren't uniform with the ncurses shadows with the return/go to top/catalog/update shadows.

Protip: The complementary color for lime is purple.

The orangish-yellow on black is still stabbing my iris.

 No.20190

I'm liking it, pretty schway

 No.20213

I really like the new version.

 No.20219

 No.20255

It'd be nice if the font family was set to monospace rather than specifying Lucida Console. That way it uses the user's monospace font of preference (mine is set to Terminus).

 No.20325

If anyone wants a flat, minimal style for the site, here's a replacement sheet for cyber.css

http://pastebin.com/reV5eti9

Let me know what you think.

 No.20328

The new theme is very nice. It's a bit too big on my screen though (1366x768) I put my browser on 90% zoom.

 No.20329

It looks a lot better now, good job!

 No.20338

is there any way I can change the style myself and keep it that way when I revisit the page? I don't know much about anything beyond writing the css itself.

 No.20349

 No.20353

I was poking around trying to figure out how to use the styles people posted.

Looks like you can install an add-on called Scriptish that lets you write custom styles for websites. It will automatically load on whatever pages you tell it to.

Hope this helps.

Nah, here's what you need to do:

There's an 'options' button on the top right of any page on 8chan, with the board list. Click that and go to 'theme' on the left of the little pop up. Set the theme to 'yotsuba b' and then paste in whatever custom CSS you want, for example >>20325

Cheers.

I really like the late 70s, early 80s terminal aesthetic.

More like eyesore yellow.

 No.20517

>>20513
this, actually, for real

yellow would be a bit eye-straining, green is softer and more pleasing imo

the drop shadows are a bit much though, and headline text should probably just be dark green

in fact, the pallete should be a bit more limited in general, the weird magenta in places is strange and ill-fitting. the outright red is okay though

 No.20521

The basic points:

-Open Source

-Procedurally generated planets and cities

-resource mining

-NPCs compete with other NPCs in a simulated free market economy for all goods/services in the world.

-Player can start a business to compete with NPCs(or other players since via multiplayer) Any good or service avalible in the game can be done by the player.

-Can be anything from a bounty hunter, hitman, pirate, courier, miner, or simply just set up shop in a city. Anything that you have the ability to make a profit off of you can do it, even things the devs never thought of.

-can spend brouzouf on stuff like weapons, armor, vehicles, cybernetic upgrades or furniture for you're ship/home ect.

-Perma death

First Person. It's going to be pretty minimalistic though. I don't have the capital to add everything I want like scripted quests(It's just pure sandbox) or procedural conversations(in the spirit of Animal Crossing I suppose) Though a lot of the mechanics I've had to cut corners on have actually turned out to be better methods. Not being a complicated Arma-tier mess is a pretty nice quality as well.

Some other points if you're interested(Just because I enjoy talking about it):

>The game is mostly physics based rather than have pre-scripted mechanics. You can imagine it will play a bit like gmod, just without the tacky comedic props.

>For building construction there will be a minimalistic snap-to-grid sims style house editor. Only for the building itself, all furniture and what-not is freeform, you place it yourself. This is actually easy as fuck to do.

>Rather than hand making animations, I plan to just use this with bullet physics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHj8RDfyqP0

>I also want to point out, being procedurally generated ≠ "blocky minecraft shit"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yI5YOFR1Wus <Case in point.

Everything I need is open source or at least has a fair amount of documentation on methods used. The art assets are all low poly(pics related, the style I'm going for) so the assets aren't an issue(Especially considering I'm making all the assets myself, yes it's that easy)

I really only need a few programmers(I would never be able to do all this myself)

Actually I lied, it's just another closed source early access zombie survival mining crafting game for windows ;^)
