I am disappointed in the amount of DIY in this thread.
The current vest I wear is an all black punk-inspired denim vest with black patches painted with black paint, (so they're shiny and visible if you look closely) black pin-buttons, and black pyramid studs. I wear it with shirts and ties that I like, sometimes I go full void and wear an all-black shirt, black tie, black jeans, and my doc martens.
I'm planning on punking out my standard leather motorcycle jacket, with bold, geometric sections of purple and orange, to wear over this vest.
No.20547
>>20535My own motorcycle jacket has buttons from shows I've been to, some other buttons that amuse me(such as one that says "I READ derezzed BOOKS"), and some cone spikes. I prefer to keep it slightly subdued but still very noticeable. I like the balance of the two.
No.20548
>>20547Right on.
To me, the best cyberpunk aesthetic is whatever you fucking want to wear. Plus, supporting the bands who play at shows near you is awesome, and that derezzed pin sounds neat. My old high-school vest had cone spikes, as well… although honestly those are the only cool thing about it.
I like seeing both the Ice-Ts and the Keanu Reeveses of the world, if you know what I'm saying.
No.20570
>>20548goddamn word filter.
The pin says I READ B.A.NNED BOOKS and has a little image of an open book with a flame above it. Another has a little chibi style Cthulu. and another simply reads "log in" in yellow letters on a black background. I picked them up at a local shop I like that sells tabletop games and card games and little kitchy things like coffee mugs made out of a camera zoom lens and superhero themed art from local artists and vintage clothing. Almost picked up a nice flatcap from there that was made in 1956 but someone else had bought it before I had the brouzouf to snatch it up.
To me, in terms of cyberpunk stuff, one of the coolest things to do is to buy from as many local and small businesses as possible, even stuff on etsy and rebelsmarket, rather than to buy things from big corporate conglomerates.
Oh, and the rest of my pins are The Vibrators, The Forgotten Rebels, Orphan Grinder, The Matadors, Nekromantix, Charged G.B.H, The Creepshow, The Brains, and The Protomen.
I actually want to get a lot more. I have plans to get a vest made by a friend when I have the brouzouf. Leather and black canvas, maybe some EL strip accents, and plenty of pockets for electronics. I dig that kind of stuff, plus it's more of supporting a local artisan.
No.20574
>>20570The pin seems a lot cooler, now, actually. And yeah, of course, support your friends and allies, and the 'little guy' in general.
Nice collection of bands. I can't say the bands I have on my vest are very cyberpunk, or even entirely punk. I have The Taxpayers, Alexander the Terrible, The Monks, The (Young) Pioneers, Comus, and an Against Me! backpatch, all DIY. They're just my favorite bands, is all.
If I ever commission clothing, I'll probably get something on the more effeminate side of things. A hoodie dress combination has always been one of those things I've always thought sounded cool but have never seen.

I've always liked the look of gold printed on black in an overall pattern. Reminds me of the paisley shirts that were popular with the shoegaze crowd in the 90s. And the torc…I have a different one from the same artist, that has a look reminiscent of the construction of spiders' legs. I dig the sideshields because I have a light sensitivity issue, specifically sunlight and halogen lighting. Florescent lighting is pretty harsh on my eyes as well. Popped up out of nowhere in high school to the point where I need to wear sunglasses everywhere. I currently have a pair of wraparound shades in a style that was semi-popular circa like 2006, and they've been through so much hell that the outer layer of plastic has begun to bubble and peel.
The sidesheilds seems a logical alternative to the plastic shit I'm tired of wearing, and has that classic military look that I really dig.
I used to have a pair that were a bit more rectangular, but they didn't shield my eyes properly, and the degree of red tinting on them has since become somewhat illegal for optometrists to sell. I might end up going with something like pic related with a custom tint. Sure would be a lot cheaper as the chunkier framed ones shown in

i didn't read any of the arguments in this thread lol
i posted a little bit about the 'fashion' i'm into in the aesthetics thread but i guess this is a better thread.one of my resolutions for 2014 was to get in better shape - i was underweight and spent most of my time ill and i'd end up winded going for a light jog around my block. 4 months now i'm in a lot better shape mostly from jiu-jitsu and running (i want to start lifting but the closest gym is too far for me to realistically get there on my current schedule while maintaining any sort of decent lifting program).
anyway as a result especially where i live where the weather is harsh in both summer & winter i have been getting more into the technical side of clothing. reading about different fabric types isn't exactly exciting and schway but i've been a lot more picky in my outerwear and casual wear even for clothes i'm not wearing for running.
i have a thing for clothes that don't call a lot of attention to yourself but if you were to inspect it you could definitely see the 'tech' influence and how well made it is.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9lkXq_py0g < —- some of these jackets are clearly attention-grabbing but the attention to detail and multiple functions of the jackets is something i respect. unfortunately i made the decision of pursuing a non-STEM career so my income situation is just 'ok'… meaning most of these articles of clothing are out of my price range for the immediate future. oh well. you get my point & fashion interests. maybe this isn't enough cyber and not enough punk. i could write a goddamn novel about merino wool or something.

>>20899My jacket I got on the cheap for 100 dollars, since the business was closing. It's thick cowhide leather, which is why it's so strong. the softer the leather is, the easier it's going to come apart. The funny thing is that the lining has town in several places, the pockets have torn right open, except the one in the chest, and still the leather is fine. I got caught in a downpour and my jackass roomate at the time knocked my sopping wet coat off of the chair I had left it on to dry. The next day it was in a nasty crumpled mess and mold had started to grow on it from the dirt on the floor(it was s shitty basement apartment). I took some soap and water to it and got it cleaned off and dried. The leather hadn't even cracked, and that coat STILL smells like fresh leather. It's the greatest fucking thing I own. Shit, even after shoving pins and spikes through the lapels it's a fucking beast.
