I use Jabber+OTR for IM and why should I use Tox? I dont need a voicemessenger, I would only use it for textchats.

>>9715Jabber is decentralised too. You pick a server where you want to make your account (you can host one for yourself) and as long this one server is online, you are available in jabber.
Many organisations who fight censorship and for the web are hosting servers. Like the Chaos Computer Club. Im still looking for a EFF server, they should have one too.
No.9721
Also, Tox doesnt hide your Ip from the other chat partner by default (I hope you guys here realize that). Jabber or other XMPPs are still using servers to communicate, which means you only have to find a trustworthy server for your account and this problem is solved by default. Still you have to activate OTR tho.
No.9722
>>9709If I recall correctly OTR is actually one of the few forms of digital communication that the NSA currently can't decrypt. so that speaks in favour of OTR.

There has been a good amount of traffic through here. I counted about 8 or 9 active users in all throughout the day, which ain't bad for one day on a slow board. I figure once I get the bot right for auto invites people will get on and stay since there's a reason to.

If it is I could do simple floods to fuck with his speed. I could port scan for vulnerable software to try and fuck with his server. I could even find out the address associated with the IP depending on the ISP. Shit, he is probably already on a list somewhere for being associated with this data.

Yeah, I'm running µTox with a "–portable" option, which takes the "Tox" folder out of "/home/user/.config/Tox" (Linux) and "AppData/Roaming/Tox" (Windows), and puts it it either /home/user/Tox or wherever you installed the program.
I'm then simply syncing that folder with Mega Sync, pretty easy stuff.
