It's non-free (freedom denying) software. That means that it does not respect your four essential freedoms.

>The freedom to run the program as you wish, for any purpose (freedom 0).

>The freedom to study how the program works, and change it so it does your computing as you wish (freedom 1). Access to the source code is a precondition for this.

>The freedom to redistribute copies so you can help your neighbor (freedom 2).

>The freedom to distribute copies of your modified versions to others (freedom 3). By doing this you can give the whole community a chance to benefit from your changes. Access to the source code is a precondition for this.

You pay for free apps with your information.

Windows has backdoors and information collecting software installed by default and you should only use it if you have literally no worries with being spied on 24/7. It's like masturbating with your front door open and your blinds removed.

 No.2878

probably rooted since 1993... whats ur point?

intel inside ... literally meanse intel inside

these nukkas are working off firmware/bootrom exploits...hardware backdoors, router backdoors, firmware backdoors.... all internet ssl traffic goes over TLS wether its SSH or HTTPS.

it dont matter son

are they pro-alien or anti-alien thats the only thing that matters... aliens spells "alliance"

Use Linux if you don't.

Preach it, brother!

At some point, we all say things that people in power won't like, even if they're officially fine. You don't want constant inspection at that point. Power corrupts.

I have Windows 10 on one of my laptops and so far it's alright. Overall it's a nice upgrade from 7. They've toned back a lot of the negative aspects of Windows 8 (forced tablet bullshit) and made many usability improvements. A very small example of this is I had to reinstall Windows 10 to fix a network issue and when it finished installing it left a .html file on my desktop with a list of programs that were lost during the reset. The list even had links to redownload software, though I'm not sure how accurate it was (some intel software went to a login page for example).

Major downside is that the default option for logging in to your device is via a Windows Live account. It looks like you can use a local account instead. Also, a shitload of information is by default turned on, stuff like "tell Microsoft how I write".

TL;DR:

Good for sheep

>>2894

Microsoft says so when you sign up for the Insider program. Until it releases I'll just use my other laptop for porn. When installing with the default/express settings you agree to transmitting tons of information: Browsing info, programs, etc. All of these can be disabled on install if you do a custom install.

OK. Now, why are these freedoms important? The majority of PC users have been using this non-free software for decades now and appear to be happy with it.

at least it has more games than the xboner :^)

Seriously though, it's not quite as bad as people say. The only games I've had trouble with are Skyrim and Crysis 2, which aren't even very good.

Look at Microsoft, Windows 10, the state of the OS, data mining, targeted advertising, this thread, and ask yourself that question one more time.

The NSA can get you on any system. You think the NSA is like other LEA where they are retarded as shit and actually need backdoors? NSA is everywhere. They can have fucking usb cables bugged when you buy them from fucking monoprice. If they really want you, they will get you.

And if you're smart enough to protect yourself then you're either not using a PC or too smart to be on this imageboard.

Use the fucking OS that works for your needs.

There have been reports that you can't disable some of the tracking stuff.

>And finally, some traffic seems quite impenetrable. We configured our test virtual machine to use an HTTP and HTTPS proxy (both as a user-level proxy and a system-wide proxy) so that we could more easily monitor its traffic, but Windows 10 seems to make requests to a content delivery network that bypass the proxy.

Are you seriously trying to tell us that we should just say fuck it all and not care about security or privacy just because it's technically possible that the NSA could find out anything if they really wanted to?

Are you assuming we are all enemies of the state or something?

They have much bigger fish to fry. Our sheer numbers is our security against that sort of thing, and it's quite effective.

I know they still have data on us, but any data they have on me is probably just robotically collected without any actual human monitoring me personally, same way any other company collects mass data on the internet.

I'm not doing anything illegal, nobody is bugging my usb cables or sitting outside my house monitoring me.

and I would be surprised if some of their data isn't also coming from google and microsoft anyway, which you're basically saying I should just give up freely.

>Redpill me on Windows 10, /g/. Both technical and political aspects.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Windows, is in fact, NSA/Windows, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, NSA plus Windows. Windows is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another expenseive component of a fully functioning Spy system made useful by the NSA core-spyware, reverse shell utilities and vital keylogging components comprising a full botnet as defined by Gen. J. Clapper.

Many computer users run a modified version of the botnet system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of spyware which is widely used today is often called “Windows”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the NSA system, developed by the NSA. There really is a Windows, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use.

Windows is the cover: the program in the system that hides the spying resources from the other programs that you run. The cover is an essential part of a botnet, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete botnet. Windows is normally used in combination with the NSA spyware: the whole system is basically botnet with Windows added, or NSA/Windows. All the so-called “Windows” versions are really versions of NSA/Windows.

This. Windows used to be called DOSSHELL until the NSA got involved. Bill saw the writing on the wall and decided to take the money instead of sticking up for the people. He was aware that they already approached Steve Jobs that same day, but Jobs had told the government that he had to "think about it." Jobs was also aware of government contracts with IBM, who provided data mining services to Germany during World War II, and did not want Apple associated with the killing of his distant relatives. It was also the reason why Apple demanded to have its own hardware type for so long because he knew how deep the US and Israeli governments had penetrated the manufacturing business and stayed that way until Jobs first discovered that he had cancer.

At that time he went back to the businessmen that offered the contract yearly, and accepted that Macs would support Intel and other PC hardware in exchange for profits in order to pay for his cancer treatments. Some of this was done under the table, and another section was done to test out propaganda techniques on the public with the form of the initial iTunes adverts. They were pleased with their success, and again in 2008 when the same techniques that were improved upon help to win a presidential election.

TempleOS will...

>capture everything you'll type on your keyboard and send that to Microsoft and NSA. This data is used to improve spell checker among other things.

>listen to environment it's being used in if the microphone is plugged to system, record that stuff and send it to Microsoft and NSA. Those samples are used to improve Cortana which is Microsoft's Siri.

>turn your PC into a network node that is used to deliver updates to other PCs and deliver data from them to Microsoft and NSA. Which essentially means using your bandwidth to deliver data on behalf of Microsoft.

>capture few images from the web camera every time program starts video capture and those images will be delivered to Microsoft and NSA for image quality check.

>send list of all programs you use, some of the usage metrics and data to Microsoft and NSA. Purpose is to advertise stuff to you.

>prevents you from blocking certain network addresses even if you redirect them in your hosts file which is why almost all "prevent win10 spying" apps are useless and won't actually protect your privacy.

>turn data metrics and privacy violating features on by itself if you turn them off from the control-panel after a reboot. That includes the Microsoft's anti-virus file scanner Windows Defender which will eat CPU time and RAM and reads your files and sends data forward.

>also do... [sponsored by NSA] and ... [sponsored by NSA]... and who knows what else.

Don't install TempleOS if you care about your privacy. Rather install Linux such as Debian or CentOS.

>20 fps with freedumb video driver

>35 fps at best with proprietary drivers because you are still at best literally emulating Windows

>Nothing "Just werks", enjoy dealing with fucked up resolutions, key bindings, sound, and textures.

>Above is assuming that Wine is even able to start the game, instead of simply closing to desktop

>Literally forced to use the command line just to do basic tasks such as changing your video driver

>Feel forced to go on the internet and rationalize using the worst OS for gaming ever because you are too poor for a Mac, and too special for Windows.

>Rebuke everything with either, "I totally don't play games anyways, not just because I can't". Or fall back on pointless meme-calling.

Set up a computer for nothing besides media/gaming and have it run Win7, then use either a laptop or another desktop running Linux for everything that isn't Steam/Youtube

i deal with linux all the time, im even on it right now, every single day, i can confirm this is pretty much exactly what a new user can expect. amd opensource drivers however are very good now, i get three times as many fps in linux verses windows in the only game i even play anymore (quake live). though the actual steam client through wine is fucking broken and has been for awhile now. you can still expect every other game to be broken in multimonitor setups.

i wish linux weren't so frustrating. its a situation where everything appears to work, but is all so unintuitive. like for example, i want to delete a folder from command line. i forget to type -r (recursive) so i cant delete the folder. for some reason linux thinks that when you want to delete a folder you wouldn't want to append -r EVEN THOUGH YOU CANT EVEN HAVE FILES AND FOLDERS OF THE SAME NAME. such an absolutely useless 'necessary' command. or how xorg forces mouse acceleration by default and the only way you can change that is with sudo permissions. and how about the fact that half of all fucking applications don't put their fucking config files in ~/.config? million little small shits that piss me the fuck off.
