Because I've been around long enough to see what happens when Jap artists go for the Furry market– for starters, they never return to drawing/creating/publishing the things at a quality they did before: it's just murrsonas on plain backgrounds like the rest of the Furry dreck. They no longer do doujins with any effort put in, and what they do put out is 'tiny'/fewer pages, and priced for the Americans– as we've already seen with Sindoll.
The Kemono Fursuiters are also fucking-up bigtime too due to 'wanting to follow the Furries' rather than being a distinct scene of its own. (I was about to start a thread about them a few weeks ago, but checking on what was being done currently was shown to be just a smaller version of Furry-suiters; in 5 years, there'll be conventions of generic murrsuits like in the States.

Here's another pic that made me rage. Sure, the costuming is nice, but: the 3 identical suits were all made by the same person for money, and it's became a Generic like the toonhead carpetsuits.
It's too late for kemonosuiting. The only difference I can see between the second image (from the 'Chibakemo' convention) and a Furry convention photoshoot are the suit's head designs. Expect the Kemo scene to get overrun by guys wanting to wrap themselves in synthetic fur for their internetfriendz, and much less content like we're here being fans of… :/

Something about the credit card's security code and I don't have any other option than pay with a credit card. Last time I ordered from them I paid using PayPal. My card is fine, but it doesn't work for some reason. This is from the Mandarake Fukuoka store.

What's their reasoning behind not being able to use Paypal for adult rated items? I even got a couple of emails today about items on my alert list getting restocked and I can't buy anything.

It's against paypal's terms of service to use it for any adult material, mandarake's been getting away with it under the radar for years. Paypal is probably getting serious with legal threats if they don't stop.
Anyway, just use a deputy service to get things off mandarake that's 18+ for the time being, mandarake will probably try and get a new payment option up within the year.

A service that will buy things in Japan for you and mail them to you, there's a lot of them so you might have to look around until you find one that works for you (and has good rates).
You would probably use paypal for them as well but I believe it sidesteps any legal issues because you're not technically paying for any items, you're paying for a service.

Do artists only sell their stuff once, or do they often do it more than that? There's a doujin that just got released last month at Kemoket (iirc) and I'm having trouble finding it available online outside of about two Japanese auction sites. Sorry, I'm incredibly new to the world of actually buying doujins.

No.2895

Depends on the artist. Sometimes they'll sell stuff throughout the year at various conventions, other times they'll make a doujin and sell it once at one convention and it'll never get reprinted.
A general rule of thumb you should follow in this hobby is to buy something as soon as you can because you never know if it'll be available again.

One thing I would suggest is if you know your favorite artist, look up their website or Twitter. If they're going to Comiket they'll have something there that will show what day they're going and what area they'll be at. Good to hear. I wasn't seriously worried about customs since I didn't plan to bring back anything too questionable. Also I was already planning to be there early on the third day anyway since that's when most of the music is there (gotta pick up all my garbage loli denpa CDs).
I'll start with the list provided earlier as a base, but is it easy to just walk around and discover new stuff? As I said I'm a bit new to kemono stuff so I was hoping to just find things which piqued my interest, but I know Comiket's enormous and full of raging otakus so I dunno if that's really feasible.

It's both easy and not easy. Finding kemono however is gonna lean more towards not easy if you don't know where to go. Usually the kemono artists are located near the same area so finding one circle will lead you to possibly another. The 1st and 2nd day is the best time to wander around different artist tables to search for doujins. The 3rd day is impossible, you have to know where you're going and you have to maneuver around a SEA of people.

Booked a few months in advance it was about 2k round trip through ANA (leaving from Chicago, coming back to NYC). You could do cheaper if you're willing to make multiple stops or if you're savvier with bargain hunting than me.
