Nailed it!
>I don't think people like that would even be interested in meeting up for a party
Maybe they think they're going to get along IRL with those they get along with online, only for their spergers to rub each other horrendously wrong like two hugging porcupines. I dunno, I've always feared that all those stories I read on rpg.net and /tg/ about bad gaming stories (especially those involving weebs and furries) would be almost identical to anime fans. I at least know I certainly wouldn't want to meet me at a party. Or anywhere else, really.
But don't let my pessimism dampen your enthusiasm! Maybe (hopefully) my debbie-downer assumptions are just wrong, that the old adage of "bad news will cross the ocean whereas good news won't cross a stream" is at play here, and that /kind/ers aren't mostly comprised of a handful of creepy pedo fatbearded NEETKVs like I imagine most of /a/ to be.
Sage for /unkind/.
