So according to Alphys's research notes, we know that monsters can be injected with "determination" but the bigger question here is, what is within monsters that substitute the absence of determination?
We know that in order for the Boss Monsters to be considered this, canonically, they must have some driving force or at the very least something more than just the will to exist?
In this case I ask the question of;
What does Sans possess in place of Determination that powers him besides time powers?
Does Undyne possess the buddings of determination enough to be able to DEFY death itself or is it something else?
What does Asgore possess enough of, that he can channel it into his weapon?
Are they all just magic? Like how the dummy you encounter in the sewer is a ghost, but what is a ghost in this world? Is it a devoidment of life, in this case or is it merely something stronger that survives once the will to live has surpassed?
And if that were the case, how would Mettaton function, being a ghost in a body, when we all know robots are just metal and magic?
Does this mean that Mettaton possesses some form of perverse determination, even as a ghost?
For that matter, can you even kill a ghost when it doesn't have the will to live in the first place?
