Game Theory? or On the nature of Flowey/Asriel
So I've been wondering for a while what's going on, exactly, with Flowey, because something about him just doesn't add up at all. We know that robots are made of metal and magic, but what is Flowey made of? The part that I feel most opposed to is the claim that Flowey does not have a soul. This is a fairly typical stance because Flowey is kind of a jerk, and is commonly said to be emotionless, and because Alphys said so. The first part is irrelevant, the second is incorrect (Flowey does feel emotions, just not positive ones; he frequently expresses fear, frustration, and lots of anger), and the last part… well, if you've gotten this far and trust everything Alphys says… you're doin' it wrong. Besides, how COULD she know? She didn't even know that the flower she chose was the one dusted by Asriel's ashes. She thought it was just another flower and picked it at random. She just assumed that it didn't have a soul because flowers typically don't.
Either way, it doesn't make sense that a mere flower could suddenly gain sentience simply from Determination. Determination is a power source, not a mind or soul. It wouldn't make it move. As someone else pointed out in another thread, how could a soulless being that's not a monster even be able to use magic attacks in the first place? Monsters are made mostly of magic so their souls are better attuned to it. Their souls essentially are their bodies, and thus are their magic. This is why their bodies and attacks weaken when their souls lose the will to fight. If Flowey had no soul, and no monster body, where could his attacks come from? There wouldn't be any magic to use.
But the most important reason why I can't accept the soulless-Flowey hypothesis is because it would mean the child you encounter at the end of the game WOULD NOT BE ASRIEL! It would be just something like a copy, clone, or echo of him given some weird agency and somehow pulling his memories from the aether.
It's said that the "Boss Monsters" have souls that can persist for a moment after death, something that doesn't happen with other monsters. Considering that they're the defacto rulers of the Underground, this might just have something to do with a kind of innate strength or power. The more powerful the monster, the longer the soul can last. Strength of the body is strength of the soul because they are close to the same thing. By absorbing Chara's soul, Asriel gained exponentially greater power, and so perhaps his soul could persist for exponentially longer after death. Long enough to sit inert on that flower until it was injected with Determination, maybe. Then, it wasn't until he absorbed the human souls and all the other monsters' that Flowey was able to recreate his physical body and regain a vessel that could process positive emotions, and thus returned to being completely Asriel, body and soul.
Well, at least that's my theory on the whole thing. It makes me feel better knowing that Asriel is still in Flowey somewhere, that Flowey isn't just some corrupted copy that carries his face around like a death's mask. After all, at the end of the Neutral Ending, he DID tell me how I could go back and change things so as to fix what happened. Was that just Flowey manipulating me into putting the pieces in place so he could gain the equivalent to seven human souls, because clearly six wasn't enough to defeat me? That's entirely possible. But I choose to interpret that as kindness, instead. A little bit of the old Asriel peeking out from behind Flowey to help us both get our "happy ending". Kindness doesn't come from dust; it comes from the soul.

Regarding FUN values and plot exploration.
I've been a bit curious as I've played. Has Fox confirmed that all possible story paths have been explored? i.e. neutral, pacifist, genocide, post genocide pacifist?
Is that everything worth hunting down? The only thing that makes me wonder is his comment about FUN values and how they affect endings and such. Of course befriending/killing the main characters are more obvious fun value changers but what about more nuanced things like sparing only certain non boss characters or something along those lines.
Playing from the perspective of the mystery solver the game let's us know that it's in on the joke. The game knows that we're "playing it".
I've noticed I can run two instances of the game at once. Is this only a pirate thing or can steam do this as well? I don't have the time to mess around with this but I was thinking about what affect making different choices in different instances of the game might create. Probably nothing, but it got me thinking at least.
The aforementioned method sounds very cryptic but I feel like that train of thought is the one I need to discover the truth.
If I had to hazard a guess I feel like there's something left undiscovered in either the core or the secret lab.
I know a lot of people like Asriel, but honestly? I miss that we had to trade the delightful psychopathy of Flowey for him. I just can't really connect the two characters since they're so different, even when Asriel's at his most sinister in the true ending, and so I feel like the actions of one don't fully carry over to the other.

So according to Alphys's research notes, we know that monsters can be injected with "determination" but the bigger question here is, what is within monsters that substitute the absence of determination?
We know that in order for the Boss Monsters to be considered this, canonically, they must have some driving force or at the very least something more than just the will to exist?
In this case I ask the question of;
What does Sans possess in place of Determination that powers him besides time powers?
Does Undyne possess the buddings of determination enough to be able to DEFY death itself or is it something else?
What does Asgore possess enough of, that he can channel it into his weapon?
Are they all just magic? Like how the dummy you encounter in the sewer is a ghost, but what is a ghost in this world? Is it a devoidment of life, in this case or is it merely something stronger that survives once the will to live has surpassed?
And if that were the case, how would Mettaton function, being a ghost in a body, when we all know robots are just metal and magic?
Does this mean that Mettaton possesses some form of perverse determination, even as a ghost?
For that matter, can you even kill a ghost when it doesn't have the will to live in the first place?

I want Dogaressa to nuzzle my nose affectionately, then laugh at my reaction to it, saying I should be humiliated for having such an obvious response.
But I can't help myself. Dogaressa is not only the most beautiful monster in all of the Underground, but her nose-nuzzling is phenomenal, sensational, even supernatural owing to her monstrous estate.
I often fantasize of Dogaressa pinning me down, or holding me close, nuzzling my nose as my feeble attempts at resisting are broken down; physically overpowered from the very beginning, with both my mental and emotional defenses being shattered soon after.
Her otherworldly nose-nuzzling would be more than enough to cripple any hope I would have had at denying her, and soon my mind and body would be completely and absolutely under her influence. I would no longer be able to hold back my unbridled affection for her, with any sort of individuality I once had completely and utterly defeated in the face of Dogaressa's wonderful visage and unparalleled nose-nuzzling.
And then, as if solely for the purpose of breaking me even more, she would laugh once again, berating and mocking me for even having let myself fall victim (if it could even be considered that) to her nose-nuzzling prowess. She would giggle and shame me, telling me how silly it is to be so lustful – though not in any sexual manner – of her and her nose-nuzzling.
If I'm lucky, maybe she would consider taking me in as a pet of sorts, provided my desired nose-nuzzling in exchange for long, drawn-out petting sessions. Or maybe she would just leave me there, cold and broken, never able to think of anything but those divine nose-nuzzles for the rest of my mortal entrapment.
